What exactly is 5G?

By 2020-03-05

There are still lots of people who are not so familiar with this new 5G network and even have many misunderstandings about it. In order to give you a deeper understanding of 5G, we are here to introduce what 5G is? How fast is it compared with 4G? What will 5G network mean for us?

What exactly is 5G?

Simply put, 5G is the fifth generation of network technology, which has 3 characteristics: large bandwidth, low latency and Internet of everything.

What are NSA 5G and SA 5G?

NSA 5G and SA 5G are two universally recognized practical 5G construction and popularization programs. NSA 5G is to put 5G network into the existing 4G infrastructure through reasonable utilization, so that the network can reach 5G level. SA 5G, on the other hand, realizes the popularization of 5G by rebuilding 5G infrastructure and establishing an independent 5G network.

The two are different. Although NSA 5G is a transitional form of 5G, it is still 5G in nature and its popularization speed is much faster than that of SA 5G.

How fast is 5G compared with 4G?

5G is expected to be nearly 100 times faster than 4G. With speeds like that, you could download a two-hour film in fewer than 10 seconds, a task that takes about seven minutes on 4G.

5G technology offers an extremely low latency rate, the delay between the sending and receiving of information. From 200 milliseconds for 4G, go down to 1 millisecond (1ms) with 5G.

The new standard of 5G means devices can communicate with each other with no lag. You know how when you write with a pen, you see it as it happens? That's zero latency. That's pretty much what 5G can do: no waiting. It's an exciting time for faster, more connected devices.

What will 5G networks mean for us?

Through a combination of high speeds, massive bandwidth and super low latency, 5G will allow for improvements in AR, VR, robotics, cloud gaming, immersive education, healthcare and more. It will allow you to send so much more data so much faster and technology will be more responsive.

5G network means:
Faster download and upload speeds
Smoother streaming of online content
Higher-quality voice and video calls
More reliable mobile connections
Greater number of connected IOT devices
Expansion of advanced technologies, such as self-driving cars and smart cities
