  • Decent Camera Grip

Pros: This is a decent camera grip; all the buttons function (shutter and AE lock). The battery bay can take the regular Nikon batteries as well as AA batteries. The camera recognizes the number and type of batteries present. The unit fits and communicates with my camera (D80) properly.

Cons: The grip feels very light and plastic. The shutter button doesn't function exactly as the normal shutter does. The "feel" isn't quite the same and often when I am still composing my image just trying to trigger auto focus the shutter will go off. The build quality is okay; everything fits where it should, but it definitely isn't something I would confuse with a genuine Nikon grip.

Other: This is a decent grip for quite a bit cheaper than what Nikon wants for their grip. Considering that the D80/D90 are older cameras, I couldn't justify spending too much for a grip, so I don't regret my purchase at all. Just don't expect a genuine Nikon grip that has been relabelled.

Pros: Great product, a little expensive for DX price range but totally worthy. It is made by Meike, one of the greatest manufacturers of Grips for digital SLR cameras. I use it all the time on my D90, works every time, has the exposure controls built on the grip so you can have full access to the exposure on your camera. Also, the button has half-way press, so you can lock focus and reframe the picture.

    Cons: None whatsoever. Great product.

Other: Very recommended for extra controls on portrait picture framing and extra grip if you have big hands like me.

Pros: Both batteries provide full information (charge, shots), the button feels and works great and the "enable" switch is a nice addition.

Cons: The screw feels a bit loose and there is a little wiggle room left. I do not have the official part, so I do not know if the official part has the same defect.

Other: Get it is you shoot a lot of portraits or if your camera trigger is getting wonky. If you qualify for neither, it is still a bit pricey for a gadget.

Pros: Great build quality, comparable to what a genuine MB-D80 grip would feel like. The shutter button has a great feel and is not "sloppy". Door mechanism secures tightly, and the AA battery carriage is well-built.

Cons: The AE/AF-L button is a little too squishy for my taste. I often find myself having to apply more pressure than normal to get it to register. But this might be my personal taste more than an actual issue with the product.

Other: If you're looking for a simple, quality grip, with all the features of the Nikon MB-D80 this is the best one for the price, for sure.

  • Feels Solid!

posted by Spizaex on 05:40:29 G12T 07/12/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: The grip feels very solid. The material is solid and the plastic has a matt texture. It has a rubberized felling, and you feel it sticks to your hand - not negatively -. Personally I believe it feels better than the SKU 31891. The grip parts are locked tight, they don't have those huge gaps you see in 31891. Might be just a feeling though. Some people reviewed in there that the batteries holder felt a little cheap, but this one seems to be another history. The tiny "locks" that hold your EL3s in place are solid too, and you don't feel the batteries are dancing inside the grip while you are taking photographs.

Cons: None at all. Maybe the time to arrive... I took almost 3 months for me - guess it was my postal service though -.

Other: Works as a charm. ALSO WORKS WITH D90 - It's my camera! The d80 and d90 build is the same!

Pros: . Perfect work in Nikon cameras D80 or D90. . It has buttons and functions similars the original MB-D80. . Works perfectly with stacks AAA.

Cons: . Sometimes, does not recognize the two batteries and we need change it of slot.

Other: . It's a excellent buy for the price and quality. . I recommend. . How I'm in Brazil, I think the delivery was very quickly - one month.

  • Works great!

posted by Muffe on 17:43:36 G1T 10/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Works great with my D90! - The build quality is good! - You can use EN-EL3e batteries or AA-batteries! - It tightens very well! - You'll get a better grip from your camera.

Cons: - The shutter-button has a little different touch than the cameras own button. - The AE-L -button is rubberish, not at all the same as on camera.

Other: Works great and is cheap! Nikons product costs over 2 times more than this.
