  • This grip works!

Pros: Cheap! The genuine canon grip is almsot 400 dollars here in Canada. Reads the battery status on the newer canon batteries just fine. Stock battery door fits inside the grip like the canon one. AA battery clip works well too.

Cons: Not weather sealed, but hey a little bit of foam rubber from the surplus store and an exacto knife and you can weather seal it. The fit on the bottom seems a tiny bit off. Nothing for me to really complain about. Its on there plenty tight and doesnt move. I might play with maybe filing down an edge later but for now it fits and I'm happy.

Other: Buy it. If 60 bucks is to much money for you, I don't know how you got up the courage to buy a 5D mKII in the first place. Maybe you should take your 5D back to where you bought it and get your money back. Theres probably a nice 100 dollar point and shoot on sale with your name on it!

  • A grip for around $ 60 ??

    Pros: Hi,
I am used to handle my 5D II but wanted the grip for indoor photos and be able to have a longer battery life without having to change the battery under the rain for instance..

Cons: This is not the best quality, plastic is cheap, the door lock is not the best one, but what.. it is $60 and does what you need !
Never seen a so cheap grip for Canon 5D II so bought it either if I use it twice a year, this is a nice to have !

Other: I appreciate to have all the stuff I need making deals, I trust DX and for the moment have no real bad cons (you have what you pay for !)

  • Great grip!

Pros: Great grip at a fraction of the cost of the original. The rubberized feel is pretty good and has all the controls of the original grip. It makes holding the camera in portrait mode much easier. Also, this is probably the cheapest price for a BG-E6 grip I've seen online so far.

Cons: - The buttons are clicky instead of the softness you'd expect from all other buttons. - The grip is too square. Not nearly as curved as the grip on the side of the camera. This is apparently also the case in the genuine Canon grip. - The battery door is not rubberized unlike the genuine grip. - The build quality although acceptable for the price is still plastic. It is not weather sealed, and feels like it would be the first thing to snap if the camera is dropped. - The batteries do not always snap onto the latches. Not a biggie as you just have to push it in a bit more carefully. - Buttons have the potential to allow dirt/sand into their edges. I took it to the beach yesterday and had to spend 5 minutes getting the bits of sand out of the button holes.

Other: Although this has its good share of cons, it is overall still an excellent grip. If it does break it's still okay because you can get another few and still have change left over. Its definitely a great buy unless you need pro-grade reliability and performance. For everything else this is a must have for every 5D2 shooter!
