  • Inexpensive USB audio device

posted by jstroy on 02:30:57 G3T 10/03/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Excellent price; works out-of-the-box with USB Audio class drivers (i.e. built-in drivers on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS X).

Cons: Poor audio quality. If you're listening through headphones, you'll easily notice background whistling / buzzing induced by poor isolation in the electrical construction. You might also notice distortion at the extremities of the device's supported frequencies. The build quality isn't that great, but it does what it's supposed to do. Even on my high-end workstation, interrupts from heavy disk I/O traffic results in audio crackling.

Other: It's cheap; at $3.00, it's acceptable. If you're listening through speakers, you probably won't notice the audio problems.

Pros: Very small and works perfectly on both windows 7 and on the android mini PC MK808 that i have bought from DX also.

Cons: haven't found any but i will let you know if any comes up in the next few weeks while i am testing it.

Other: for the price it is definitely worth having this device laying around. You never know when you will need an extra sound output for any device you might have. Very small and works perfectly on both windows 7 and on the android mini PC MK808 that i have bought from DX also.

  • Wouldn't use it for anything serious

Pros: Sound quality is okay. Plug and play - no drivers needed on OS X or Linux.

Cons: It causes any earphone plugged in to it to heat up. I plugged in a pair of good earphones and the speaker driver began to heat up. I unplugged it immediately and used a throwaway pair instead and same thing happened. Not sure if it damaged the earphones but I'd be wary.

Other: I bought this to play around with so sound quality didn't matter so much but if you're after a better solution, I'd look elsewhere.

  • Works ok, but don't expect concert hall music

Pros: Installs with Windows XP automatically. No driver disc required.

Cons: Flimsy plastic case broke during normal use. Audio isn't brilliant but does the job. Don't use it as your main sound device.

Other: This is a sub $3 sound 'card' and although you get your money's worth, don't expect more than that

Pros: easyly to use, extemely compatible with MS Windows - It is USB (Universal Serial Bus), so it is very easy to use. It works just out of the box, that is, you just plug it and start using it.

Cons: The case is a lot weak, but it is enough for the purpose of this product.

Other: cheap and easy - I believe this is the cheapest USB sound card around. I suggest getting it strongly.

Cons: It is build with very cheap material, as most products, but it is enough for the purpose of this product.

Other: If you don't have a soundcard, you can go for this one.

  • little gets warm, but works great

Pros: - very lo-cost - plug&play, no needs drivers - amplifies sound (at least for me) - great sound quality - red led lights, when working (little bit annoying)

Cons: - gets warm - the earphone gets warm too (wtf?) - build quality quite low (i used duckt tape, to make it stronger)

Other: very cheap, f___in' worth it. my 3.5 jack is broken, so it was the best way to make it work :)

  • Makes a bargain

posted by Tonyberty on 09:50:36 G6T 15/06/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It is extremely cheap, external USB audio cards in my country (Belarus) cost 5 times as much; installation is easy, doesn't require any technical expertise, you just plug it in any USB port (like ordinary USB flash drive), and that's it; I don't have a USB hub and enough USB ports on my computer, so I had to remove it and then plug in again numerous times - didn't cause any problems so far.

Cons: Sound quality could be better, but what would you expect for such a price?

Other: Looks beautiful (exactly like in the picture), works fine, so just grab it.

Pros: It's USB, which makes it useful for old laptops and computers. Nice if you have a laptop or if you don't want to bother installing a sound card. No drivers, plug and go for me. My mic jack broke on my laptop so I used this to replace it.

Cons: Build quality is cheap, but who cares for the price? Won't last forever, but I didn't expect it to.

Other: I believe this is the cheapest USB sound card around. I suggest getting it strongly.

  • It is good considering the price you pay for it

posted by xandeschmidt on 09:54:05 G2T 03/02/2010 certificated customer

Pros: - It is very very cheap for a sound board having 1 in and 1 out. - It is USB, so almost no driver hassling needed. - Build quality is not excellent, but good enough. - Useful if your ears are not that exigent.

Cons: - Output quality is very noisy and really bad. - Really not good if you are going to listen to good quality music with your headphones.

Other: Although the price is very low, I personally would prefer to pay some more and have a cleaner sound coming out of my headphones. If you pass time listening to music, this one is definably not for you. Buy a better one. My plans was to use several of these USB sound boards in order to make a multi-channel recording. Couldn't try that out yet, though.
