  • Great idea -- really useful.

Pros: Really practical concept and design. Product is compact and unobtrusive. Folding electrical prongs make it easy to store -- without concerns about damaging other items. In fact, you can even carry it in your pocket.

Cons: Unfortunately, I did not read the product details carefully, and only realized once I received this device that the output current is limited to 500 mA (.5 A). This is fine for recharging a cellphone or for powering a small led device; but, it's far too low for recharging a tablet.

Other: This is a very practical portable device for recharging smaller electronic devices -- like cellphones or mp3 players; and, the price is very good. So, I would definitely recommend it.

  • A good 5V AC to USB adapter

    posted by Darkblade48 on 23:57:20 G11T 13/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: For what the device does, it is very cheap. The product on DX is significantly cheaper than if I were to go to a brick and mortar store locally and try to purchase the same item. The AC to USB adapter has indicator LEDs to show you that it is plugged in and that the device is charging and/or done.

Cons: None, really. The only mild complaint that I might have is that the cable that is included could be a little longer.

Other: A reasonably good quality, cheap AC to USB adapter for your everyday, household needs.

  • Not enough power output for my needs.

posted by NomadLee on 12:16:52 G9T 21/09/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: Cheap

Cons: I did not pay attention to the output mA. I wanted to use the plug to charge my BlackBerry and iPhone, as well as PS3 controllers and Bluetooth headset. I could not charge a single one of the aforementioned products. I'm not sure what I can charge with it.

Other: Make this plug charger thingy has enought mA to charge or power the device you are purchasing this for.

  • Great Item For Personal Use Or Resale

posted by Phoghat on 03:35:57 G9T 15/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Inexpensive, but not cheap. It does what it's supposed to do.

    Cons: None Whatsoever

Other: I originally bought 3 for personal use because shops around by me ( Zacatecas, Mexico ) charge over $ 10 a piece. When I showed it to a friend he wanted to buy some for his store. Mo' money, mo' money ! Ka-ching !

  • It works

    posted by danrulz98 on 00:19:02 G12T 15/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Its small and pretty useful. It charges most USB devices and doesn't require me to run my computer all night to do so.

Cons: Low output, doesn't seem to want to charge my Archos tablet. I would recommend something that has a higher output rating. It should work for an iPod or most of the MP3 players DX sells.

Other: It works for small things, not so much for larger things that draw more power.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small, lightweight, foldable mains plug, USB cable included with the item (USB A to mini USB B).

Cons: Realiability and cable lenght seem to be the only issues with this small and otherwise nice power supply. I have two of them and one works flawlessly with the gooseneck LED USB lamp, but the other failed to survive charging my Nokia E51 through an adapter bought separately. It simply died and does not work anymore. Cable could be a bit longer, but this is not a real flaw.

Other: Buy it, for this price it's a steal. Euro/French plug, Messrs DX? Folding type French plug would be cool.

Pros: * Nice form factor, folding AC plug makes it rather compact.
    * Comes with a (small, cheap) USB A-to-miniB cable
    * 2 LEDs, one (red) indicates power present, the other (green) when sourcing over ~100mA.
    * Not that it matters, but it successfully powers up some USB hubs (with nothing else connected)

Cons: Fails to power my USB gadgets (fan, light...).
Fails to charge all the devices I've tried:
    - GPS powers up when connected; doesn't charge though.
    - iPod: nothing happens.
    - Old Nokia 6590: charger green LED slowly blinks a couple times, nothing more.
    - HTC Dream/ADP1/G1 says "charging", but 1%/hour max. Moreover, the touchscreen becomes unusable while this thing is connected.

Other: Found a use for the cable; the rest ended up in the e-waste recycling bin.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Prongs fold in so it won't tear your bag or scratch other gadgets.
    Professional design with LED indicators.
    Doesn't explode?

    Cons: I got a different model which outputs DC 6v (+-0.5v) 200-300mA.
Was unable to charge my mp3 player, but my mp3 player is pretty picky about how it charges, so I would't say it's not working.
Workmanship seems kinda rough but acceptable for an item at this price range.
Very light, could be a pro or con depending on user preference.

Other: Check out the reviews and forum discussions and make sure your device works before buying.

    posted by luis.mano on 10:47:50 G3T 05/03/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Charges many USB devices and MP3 Players.
    - Cheap (good price)!
    - Comes with cable.
    - Rectractable pins (good to carry)

Cons: - DOES NOT charges some USB devices and MP3 Players.
    - Low output "mA" (takes a eternity to charge more powerfull devices).
    - I preffer the SKU 19242 .
    - Not very good build quality (it is ok, but not very sturdy).

    Other: BUY the "Ultra-Mini 1000mA USB Power Adapter/Charger (100~240V AC)" - SKU 19242 .
    It is much better !

Pros: Nicely sized, decently priced, works OK.
Was able to charge several USB-powered gadgets.

Cons: Wasn't able to charge my Razr phone.

Other: Works good for the price, just make sure of the power needs of the device you need to charge before trying this out.
