Pros: Very good flaslight!! The built guality is nice and solid and it feels good in hand! I use mine allmost everyday and it still works fine! Its cheap for guality like this! I recommend!!

Cons: The light beam is a bit too narrow. It would be very nice if it have "flood to throw zoom" The button feels little loose but works fine!

Other: For this price this is very good flaslight and i recommend this for everyone. Maybe good gift idea?

Pros: One of the better case shapes, and more solidly built than a few lights I've used. Lots of battery choices.

Cons: If you don't want the belt clip, you end up with two small screw holes that go right through into the battery compartment. A small blob of RTV silicone fixes that pretty quickly though.

Other: At this price, buy a couple and load them with non-rechargable 123A's for your bug out bag. Can't beat that 10 year shelf life.

  • my first DX flashlight

Pros: the cast iron housing is well shaped if it was all round it would roll away all the time but the carvings prefend that. it is made for a li-ion battery wich provides the current that is needed for this kind of LED flashlights the 18650 protected one i use it with has a 1millimeter space leftover and if you shake it with moderate force you will hear the battery. but why should you shake it? The clip is very usefull for clipping it on to your pants or other cloths the switch can be operated by pushing it on a flat surface as it stichs out a little bit. it survived several drops from 2 meters high.

Cons: The classical sentence: NO tailstand. Light pattern: more trow then flood. Memory mode does not work.

Other: priceworthty. use a decent li-ion charger with more than 500mA current

  • Just works as usual bright flashlight

Pros: - bright - soft power button - long contact springs, YEAH! You can use 18650 batteries of any size and you'll never get "no contact" problem as for many other flashlights.

Cons: - I didn't found any modes, just on\off. First time I was disappointed, but now I'm even happy. - button is covered with thin and soft protective rubber which looks weak - If you'll shake it you'll notice some noise in the button's section.

Other: In fact, even with all these cons I'll prefer it over many other models. It just works and all I need is the simple and reliable source.

  • Very good product

    Pros: Very bright
    Very compact
    Good build quality
    Universal, can use 1 x 18650 or 2xCR123 batteries.
Long run time (~45 min - measured)

Cons: No that I could think of

Other: I use it also as emergency light at home. There are quite often blackouts in the countryside where I live and it's really useful in such cases. I put it into the small vase to illuminate the ceiling in my living room (25 sq m) and it gives enough light to play a board game :)

  • Solid, Compact, BRIGHT!

posted by MJdub on 14:58:27 G9T 03/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Solid. For "rugged" applications I would get a "real" brand-name light, but I take relatively good care of my lights and UltraFire has proven very reliable for me. I've had this light for a little over two years. Affordable. I think XR-E's may not be as good ($/lm) as they used to be, but this is still a great price for a decent Cree light. Bright 'n' tight. I have several other lights; this is my favorite XR-E. Very narrow and well-focused spot. Cool. Doesn't really get warm. Never had any heat problems.

Cons: The heat transfer to the case isn't very good. The LED/driver are a "drop-in". As mentioned though it keeps cool anyway. The strobe/SOS are pretty slow.

Other: Would probably be better to go for an XP-G nowadays; probably doesn't cost much more. However this was my first 3W Cree light and it's still going strong, so I know it's really reliable. Even some MC-Es are pretty cheap. There are also some "underpowered" XM-L lights that are pretty cheap. I keep this light in my car all the time, charge the battery maybe once a year (don't even really need to). I know it's there when I need it!

  • BRIGHT!

    posted by Jon18m on 09:46:51 G7T 11/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Super bright! Battery can last long. Small, can fit right into my pocket. Good design, solid built flashlight. Lens is made out of glass, not plastic. Never knew that LED lights can be so bright. It has a heavy feel (not weight heavy but solidly built kind of heavy) and is cleanly machined (unlike some lights I've dealt with before) so it's easy to put back together and take apart to refresh the batteries.

Cons: Flashlight heats up quickly, if you leave it on for more then 5mins the flashlight can get pretty hot especially the front part. Paint comes of easily if chipped.

Other: I would recommend getting this flashlight. Good price, good flashlight. Can't go wrong with this order. Trust me!

  • Excellent torch for little money

posted by SirDeath on 16:05:50 G11T 15/11/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Feels heavy, solid and well constructed. I'm using it with SKU # 05639 (CR123A batteries) and it is INCREDIBLY bright. Core beam is bright but there is enough dispersion around the edges to give you a nice spot at 3 feet. Brightness is not a problem. The two lower brightness settings could be useful in some situations, but I haven't had need for them. It has a heavy feel (not weight heavy but solidly built kind of heavy) and is cleanly machined (unlike some lights I've dealt with before) so it's easy to put back together and take apart to refresh the batteries.

Cons: The "SOS" mode is INSANELY slow, almost to the point of being useless. I don't think that the "SOS" mode is all that useful anyway so this is not a major con.

Other: Get this torch and couple of the inexpensive SKU# 05639 to power it (or go upscale with some rechargeables if you are a heavy user) and enjoy it.
