  • Pet Stain Finder!

Pros: Finds pet stains really well. I also found hidden food stains on the living-room couch where no one is allowed to eat, now the Tenets can't argue they didn't eat there, I have the Ray of Truth! - In my experience, Pet Stains glow a little brighter and more Orange then the <6 dollar multi LED UV lights that take 3xAAA batteries.

Cons: No suited to be used around persons with cleanliness disorders (OCD) unless you desire to freak them out on how unclean their world really is. I find this a Plus not a Con, Humorous Use!

Other: If you have pets and own 18650 lithium batteries and a charger, Get This!

  • Excellent quality violet torch.

posted by TreeFiddy on 04:26:08 G8T 15/08/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Excellent build quality. It feels very solid. A XR-E Q5 modules drops in easily with good throw and good brightness. Works well on CR123A rechargeable 3V batteries.

Cons: Peak wavelength of torch is 415 nm. The majority of light is in the visible wavelength, which means you probably need a filter to see most fluorescence clearly (yellow tinted ski glasses would work well).

Other: If 395-450 nm light (visible) suits you, go for it.

  • Nice UV-Flachlight, low price

posted by weboje on 04:10:22 G6T 17/06/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Nice bright UV Flashlight, low price, waterproof. Easy one-hand use.

Cons: There are no Cons I could notice so far.

Other: I would suggest this UV-Light to any Geocacher out there. In comparison to the UV light of a friend of mine it's like 1000 times brighter but not more expensive then his.

  • Amazing how far you can spot UV-colour

posted by bayerd on 13:56:28 G2T 14/02/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I went geocaching with several freinds before and it was quite difficult to find hints written with UV-colour on walls. Yesterday, we went for another cache and I brought my new UV-light. It was amazing to spot these hints from several meters distance. And the visible "purple light" is bright enough to see whats in fromt of you. Not a perfect walking light, but bright enough not to fall over something.

Cons: Nothing to complain about. Completely satisfied.

Other: I would buy it again!

  • Nice UV flashlight

posted by MVahlroos on 15:31:26 G10T 20/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright, not heating up too bad, much better than any other UV flashlight around(incuding my selfmade 9x5mm UV led flashlight).

    Cons: None so far...

Other: Very nice UV light and does what it shoud do. Even better than expected... Really worth of Your money, if You need blacklight flashlight. If You have flashlights using 18650 cell, this will be good addition to Your selection!

  • A good/average UV light.

posted by platonas on 04:43:24 G10T 12/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It is bright, much brighter than my previous UV light I bought from DX about 1,5 years ago with the same SKU. It uses a different LED and produces more blue and UV light. Any item exposed to the light of this torch looks brighter than with my previous one.

Cons: Quality is an issue here. 1. The metal (aluminum) body is not completely machined and 2 of the o-rings cannot fit and leave the body assembly (screwing) partially done. Especially the back cover with the switch cannot screwed completely because the o-ring cannot fit between the two parts. The o-rings supplied were of low quality and have no lubricant on them. 2. It does not seem to have a current/voltage regulation circuit. The higher the voltage you supply the torch, the higher the current it consumes. At 4,2V it absorbs 700mA. At 3,7V it absorbs 360 mA. At 4,4V needs 900mA. I haven't tested it with higher supply voltages since it is outside the safety limits of the LED.

Other: I haven't tested it with body fluids but as a general UV light is working fine.

  • Sh!thot!!

    posted by kochy007 on 04:13:20 G7T 18/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Track body fluid...found some of the kids sneeze on the wall LoL couldn't see it without the torch.
Try licking the wall and having a look, not that I lick walls too often, but this was p!ss funny.
Picks up bits of tennis ball all over the back yard and white sh!t on ya suit jacket.

Cons: Not too sure about tacking blood. Cut up a roo the other night and dripped some blood on the ground. The torch didn't really pick it up too well, but that was on concrete. I'll give it a real test when I go hunting this w'end out bush.
    Throw isn't the greatest.

Other: Not a bad, if this one break, I'll be getting another for sure!!

  • good for the price

Pros: A great flash light that is good does its job well, I have used this light for everything from checking IDs, hand stamps and money at work to finding the spot where my puppy went on the rug during the night, its also great for recharging glow in the dark items and finding leaks. Mine came well wrapped in bubble wrap, all the threads were clean and o rings in place (I still pulled the whole thing apart and lubed up all the rings and threads to make extra sure it would be water proofed

Cons: Not really any big complaints about this it does start to get warm after 45 minutes to an hour of use and the finish is starting to come off of it in a few spots but with the amount of use it has seen in the last year and a half I am very happy with it

Other: I would say to get a few extra tail switches because that seems to be the only weak point in this light I have dropped mine a few times and now every once in awhile I have to tap the tail of the light to get it to turn on

  • Has its UPS and DOWNS

posted by Insomnix on 20:17:40 G7T 05/07/2010 certificated customer

Pros: Ok, so you have seen MANY reviews talking about the nanometer of the UV used in this light. This one registered at 393 nanometers. To see TRUE UV something close to 380nm would be needed. But here is the trick. If you buy a cheap pair of those nifty yellow UV goggles, it will help show what you are looking for a LOT easier. Don't get me wrong. UV is UV regardless of the range. I also like that my kids have dropped this on concrete more than once and it has held up just fine. The assault bezel does come off in case you would want to.

Cons: Well, I personally don't have any. Light does not get hot to me, nor have I had to mod anything.

Other: This will give you a nice breakdown of the different forensic light and filters.

  • Well built case, but poor UltraViolet performance

posted by realbriguy on 21:51:31 G5T 18/05/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Fairly well built housing for the price. It's not built as nice as a much more expensive Surefire or Streamlight flashlight, but it's built much nicer than many other discount flashlights I've seen manufactured from China. Button feels solid, cap threads are clean, and reflector is built well. Overall feels very solid.

Cons: The UV spectrum of this LED isn't very effective. If you're expecting to get a CSI effect of lighting up bodily fluids (eew) or for activating hidden UV ink in some currency, you'll be disappointed. I tried on some Canadian currency, and I knew there was a hidden mark that was only shown under lower frequency blacklight tubes. Instead, this light would only show the fibres in the paper (which the aforementioned blacklight tubes won't show.)
I believe these issues were noted by other previous reviewers of this product and the 3W version.
Overall, I'd expect a UV light to mimic a blacklight, which unfortunately, this one fails at.

Other: Do not buy if you want to glow stains for CSI type work, or for currency checking.
Buy this for the coolness factor and for getting fluorescent items to light up.
