  • It's big and black

Pros: It's much larger than I was expecting so the WOW factor comes into play. Could be used as a club. Assault tip isn't effective. The clickie is good and it is recessed inlike the picture. It's built well and has a well applied smooth surface. Not to shabby. Black finish is even and not spotty. Xenon is replaceable if it dies and thats why I got it. Good spot with plenty of over throw. Only one function - On / Off. The strobes are getting out of hand on every light they offer.

Cons: Finish looks like it'll chip easily but should withstand some abuse. No lanyard and no lanyard hole. It's a little too big to carry around as an EDC light. I'm not a fan of the xenon yellowish glow. Non focusable beam. Could use better heat dispersement.

Other: Larger light that heats up quick. Not necessarily the most praticle light if you're looking for compact use. The overall look is impressive but it could be cheaper.

  • Nice, but expected more...

Pros: - "Cheapest" host at DX for 52mm-LED-mods ;-) - simple use: on / off, no modes - reverse clicky, not "twist on/off" as advertised, perfect for my 5-LED-multi-mode-driver-mod ;-) - good body/size, comes with 40mm extension-tube to use it with 2x18650 - all connections with o-rings, tailcap and extension lubed - can tail-stand (pictures show wrong tailcap) - 16mm switch-rubber, good for big thumbs (see also cons) - glass- lens (but not coated), no scratches - bright - 10° beam, no thrower, good spill, OP-reflector. Very good for short to medium distances. - very "warm-white" (in more than one meaning!), very nice, if you don't like neutral-white light

Cons: - not as bright as I expected for a 10W torch (yes, I know, it's Xenon, not HID nor LED) - drains 2,7A from 2x18650 (blue TrustFire unprotected, fresh from charger. Still waiting for "protected flames") - projects heat at the front ("warm"-white??, but a nice way of heat- management! Not really a con) - no modes (drains 2,7A, so less than 1 hour of light from 2x18650) - tailcap-rubber is a big 20/16,5mm, nothing available here at DX. But it looks very thick and strong, I think it will last. - bad tailcap/switch assembly. The board for the switch is ~1mm bigger than it should be to make a good contact/ fit to the body. If the board tilts, it will loose contact or even cause sparks. I don't want this in my light! I already have dangerous Li-Ions in it, I don't need any ignition.

Other: Bought this as a host for a 5x XP-G R5 mod (SKU.44305 and SKU.18842) to impress some friends, but also to see, how this Xenon will perform. As I'm not very impressed by the Xenon, I hope the best for the mod. I also own a X2000 3AAA (XR-E R2 mod with 1A- multi-mode- driver), and it's much more impressive: 1/4 the volume, fits to my pocket. Nearly similar throw, and much better flood if needed. The modes and the flood-to-throw- ability make the small one useable under all circumstances, and it lasts 10+ hours in low mode. This light is big, so everybody expects it to be bright. I know, it is not very fair, to compare a Xenon with a modded LED- torch, but it is clear, that the time for filament-bulbs ends. I stay with LEDs... To me this Xenon is is nothing more, than the least expensive host for 52mm-LED-mods sold at DX. I bought it for this use, and so it is perfect for me. I had hope for an empty host, only the body, but...

  • Just received mine Jan. 18, 2011

posted by gazurtoid on 01:28:19 G1T 21/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - well made - very bright (are all xenon lights this bright?) - feels good in the hand. In pictures the barrel looks too skinny but in actuality it's good. - very nice incandescent warm-white light--really brings out the colour of wood and trees in the forest, as opposed to cool white lights, which make everything look dull. - cheap! - tailstands very nicely with no wobble. - tailcap switch feels solid

Cons: - of course being incandescent, no modes - spot is kind of small - needed a minor mod right out of the box (see below)

Other: I bought this light so that I could put the 5x XR-E R2 drop-in module in it. But I was also curious to see how well an incandescent light would work. I highly recommend this light.

  • A lot of light!

posted by mameluco on 11:20:05 G12T 11/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: 1. Its a single mode. 2. The amount of light that this bulb produces is impressive. It has a great throw of over 100 meters with a nice spill. 3. Warm light, as usual for incans. 4. Aluminum reflector. 5. Glass lens. 6. Arrived clean and lube. 7. Well built.

Cons: Gets very hot! Only can be turned on with protected 18650 trustfire (the ones with flames). Other batteries dont turn it on.

Other: If it dies, no problem, just buy another lamp.

  • Good light to have around the house or car

    posted by Boondongle1723 on 17:28:27 G4T 18/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: * Very bright. I don't know if it reaches the claimed 500 lumens, but it is brighter than all LED flashlights. * Sturdy construction. * Can stand on its tail. When you do this inside, it lights up the room about as well as a table lamp.

Cons: * Slight battery rattle. It's not noticeable unless you are looking for it, though. * Light is a bit on the yellowish side. * Switch projects a bit too much, making the flashlight a bit unstable when standing on its tail. * Doesn't work with the cheaper unprotected batteries I own. I needed to use premium brand protected cells, or unprotected cells.

Other: At twenty five dollars, I think this is a perfectly justifiable purchase. If you plan to carry it around with you instead of keeping it near your bed or in your car, I'd suggest picking up a holster.

  • Great Value Light!

Pros: Shipping was fast with this light, in fact, I recieved it within a month after placing the order (USA). It came packaged in bubble wrap and included an extension tube that enables you to run 2x 18650 configuration. It is very bright, and you can feel heat from the bulb. Tint is slightly yellow, yet it cuts through fog and rain easily.

Cons: The grip, when combined with the almost shiny finish, makes the light harder to grip when damp or wet. Other than that, I find no cons with this light.

Other: I'd get this light if I needed something reliable and bright.

  • Affordable Xenon light

Pros: This just arrived in the post. The heat from the beam can be felt on the skin a foot away. It is bright with a huge beam spot and an even bigger useable spill. Have yet to test how long the 18650s last.

Cons: The bulb has 2 long spots of thermal glue on the sides of the glass and smoke is emitted from this just after 30 seconds of use. Hope this does not cause the bulb to explode after prolonged use.

Other: It fits the wallet and palm.

  • Amazing Brightness

    posted by testing12345678 on 20:21:53 G2T 03/02/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This one is the best xenon light available at DX.
The reflector is pretty deep and the beam can easily travel 50~60 meters.
The light is also very solidly built and is a pleasure to hold in the hand.
It has an included extender so that we can use either two 18500 batteries or two 18650s
It has a clicky switch instead of a twisty.
It lights up a room well enough to read a newspaper !

Cons: The knurling could have been a bit better. Apart from that, there are no issues with this light.

Other: Get it, it's very cheap considering it's shipped all the way from HK

    Pros: -Very bright.
    -Low cost.
    -Able to use rechargeables.
    -Accepts different battery setups.
    -Many bulb options.
    -Excellent throw with good spill.
    -Comfortable to hold.

    Cons: -Only good build quality.
    -Rough threads.
-Finish of head, body, and tail cap do not match.
-Need to double tap to fire with overly protective/sensitive cells.
-Type II finish.(Although I do like the battle scarred look)

Other: My Surefire M6 is semiretired.

  • Great Light!

posted by Jaygreig on 18:01:24 G11T 21/11/2008 certificated customer

Pros: Very Bright! Unlike some of the reviews I have read before...when I got mine (ran with 2xprotected 2500 18650s) it was not only very bright but very white as well. Now a lot of guys on my department want one as well. Also unlike some other reviews, mine did in fact come with a "clicky" tail-cap, which was a definate bonus.

Cons: Dropped it while out on a call and popped the filament...to be expected but I would prefer not to have to "baby it" perhaps a sturdier construction on the bulb side would help.

Other: You will not be disappointed for the money, output, and throw. The only light I have that is brighter than this one is the spotlight on my truck.
