  • It doesn't cut steel cord

posted by adrianofborges on 07:27:21 G7T 24/07/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works fine for copper wire. It's material is weak for steel cutting. A good steel cord cutter cost between 15-20 dollars in Brazil and seems to be weaker and smaller, but still works better.

Cons: Parts move away when you try to cut steel cord. Parts aren't tight joined. Cape handle is thinner then expected. A spring would be nice. Not suitable for stripping cables

Other: Cheap and heavy. Maybe heavier then you need.

  • Cuts metal like butter

Pros: Cuts smoothly, even through thick steel wires. Very easy to use. No stain on the hand after cutting, because it makes the job so much easier.

Cons: The handles could have padded with better, thicker coating.

Other: Very good product. everyone should have one at home. I don't know why people even bother with buying the regular cutters.

  • Just brilliant, Don't cut steel tho!

Pros: these cutters are my 2nd most used tool. been doing electronics for over 2 years now and had these for about that time. unfortunatly i keep loosing them lol and takes about a month for another pair to show up once purchased. But EXCELLENT for cutting and stripping copper cabling up to 6mm, in-expensive and a dime a dozen, i will be buying 4 pairs this time. usefull for many applications.

Cons: Not the best quality, and the metal they're made of is actually quite soft, you will never get through steel with these. and all that pairs i have had have had variations in their machining. not much tho, just noticeable.

Other: if your a sparkey, or a security tech, or someone who often works with wires, BUY THESE

  • Cutter

    posted by vamps4 on 04:29:53 G11T 22/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: As pictured, it is a nice bright yellow so you don't loose it (my last pair was black, on the floor you couldn't see it!). I use it to snip small cable ties and computer wires, it handles this with ease.

Cons: The spring in it is a bit useless, you need to manually pull apart the gripping action after each cut to open them back up. What it needs is a stronger spring to spring back open.

Other: Good for light use, seems sharp. I wouldn't want to use it for anything other than small wires other wise you risk breaking it.

  • Great Cutter saves time and effort

    posted by Bashar85 on 05:17:15 G10T 15/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Cuts through copper wire like hot knife on butter. a little smaller than I expected but does the job for little wires especially if you have many wires to cut. It is very sharp. Stripping is a bit tricky but you could get used to doing it after sometime (although it's not supposed to be used as a stripper, there are special tools to do that).

Cons: DX could offer a bigger size also - no cons for this cutter.

    Other: Get it without hesitation.

Pros: Cuts well Very good build quality (especially for the price) Cuts through steel quite thick that I wouldn't have expected it to cut through.

Cons: Nothing it does the job. We will see in time if it will be rusty all stop cutting well but until the it does the work you want

Other: In that price wont get any better. i think that price and that item you get a perfect cutting tool for your toolbox. if you are a home user is the best Buy it and try it . i will buy another one

  • Good Wire Cutter

posted by eraldolpp on 06:09:11 G8T 17/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: good yarn, and cut, ease of use, thick cut cables easily. good finish.

Cons: a little heavy. not return spring. must be handled with care.

Other: recommend for those who need a wire cutter and robust and with large cutting capacity, and who need to cut thick cables with ease. Despite being a little heavy and not suitable for stripping cables only, due to have a very precise cutting can occur cutting the internal threads of the cable, if applied too tightly in the grips. But cutting pliers is the best of its kind.

  • Awsome wire cutter

posted by helimanjoe on 14:20:05 G5T 12/05/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very sharp. These make cutting wire feel like butter. The cutting edge is beveled curved.

Cons: because of the sharp bevel you need to be careful because if you cut something hard like a bike spoke you may end up crushing the blade. Its really meant for soft material like copper etc.

Other: Buy this wire cutter if you need to cut a lot of copper or aluminum wire.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: Cuts well
Very good build quality (especially for the price)
Cuts through steel quite thick that I wouldn't have expected it to cut through.

Cons: None to be found, although I do se signs that it has been used on the blade, it works perfectly well for me still.

Other: My primary use for these was to cut the guitar strings at the neck when I strung my guitar but I've since found other uses. They have been invaluable for me in cutting all types of steel wire and would have saved me >$30 on a similar pair from bunnings or other such hardware store. I would buy another pair.

  • Terrible, very soft steel

    posted by Simonetti2010 on 22:01:42 G9T 29/09/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: None. There are no pros for this product, because it doesn`t do what it is supposed to. Keep reading.

Cons: Here we go! I got this cutter as a tool for my home bike repair shop. I meant it for cutting gear cables (steel, 1.2 mm) and gear cable housing (that contains a protective mesh of very thin steel cables). The first time I tried this cutter to cut a Shimano SIS-41 gear cable housing, the tool got dented, and not it won`t cut anything. So, I was only able to use it once. When I tried cutting gear cables in the thinner part of the tool, it also got dented.

Other: The bottomline is: DON`T BUY THIS. I ended up buying a Park Tool cable cutter, which goes through steel cables like a hot knife on butter. Get something better, pay a little more, but don`t get this.
