What is Bulk Rate? BulkRate is a semi-wholesale system with items priced separately from retail. When you use bulk rates, a flat $1.70 registered air mail fee will automatically be added to your cart to ensure delivery of package. While BulkRate's intention is to offer cheaper prices when you buy in bulk, because it is priced separately it on occassions show a higher than retail price. That's why we ask you to enter BULKRATE as a coupon code to manually activate the rates. You can always opt not to use the bulk rates. If you are looking for wholesale prices please feel free to contact us.

  • Running XP on 8GB SDHC

Pros: Small, simple, seems well made. Worked as planned to install Windows XP onto a SanDisk 8GB SDHC card and is running very well. It's not very fast but that is probably the fault of the memory card.

Cons: None at all that I can think of...

Other: Had to make several steps to get this working... Install XP on 2GB FAT16 partition, expand partition to 8GB FAT32 partition (that would not boot), and then convert format to NTFS (boots fine).

Pros: - Does what it promises
    - Works great on my Libretto 100CT, installed FreeBSD on it
    - Propably fits into any laptop
    - Transfer rates should be good
    - Replace your noisy and easily damaged hard drive with a flash drive!

Cons: - Getting the SD card out is a bit hard, and might break the adapter after a few exchanges, so be carefull
    - Might be impossible to insert this adapter into some laptops since i is really short and some laptops require hard drives to be inserted fron the side - check yours! (You might be able to stick this one in anyway, but not pull it out anymore..
    - SD card wear out faster than hard drives. You can ease the load on the card by disabling swap in linux or pagefile in windows. There are other tweaks too, check google

Other: A truly usable product for great price!

  • Not as fast as is should be

Pros: Makes a cheap and effective flash drive accessible when USB drives may not be.

Cons: Its slow. On tests with two cards, Veho 2GB and a Transcend 4GB SDHC class 6, both where almost half the speed of my USB adapter. On USB the Veho was 11.7 MB/sec read, 5 MB/sec write and the Transcend was 14.3 MB/sec read and 6.4 MB/sec write. On the IDE adapter the Veho was 7.4 MB/sec read, 3.4 MB/sec write and the Transcend was 7.7 MB/sec read and 3.7 MB/sec write.
Pin 20 needed snipping (top row under the C of CE). See the forum below, that's where I got the instructions from.
Either Vista or my PC didn't like the adapter on the Master cable.

Other: It works, its slower than it should be. For my use compact flash would be a better option.
