  • Works, although certain precautions must be taken

    posted by NOD127 on 05:01:30 G4T 07/04/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Just as fast as the more expensive one's, but that's to be expected, since they're all using the same chips. So no worries there

Cons: the solder points for the IDE header are capable of touching the metal body of your harddrive, so cover the "collision" zone with thick electrical tape. Also the quality of the solder joins seems questionable, but it works for now.

Other: If you're willing to be a little bit more careful then there's money to save with this one.

Pros: Small, ultra compact, unobtrusive and easy to use. Has Jumper settings for master, Slave ans Cable Select so should work fine with most devices not just computers. You can upgraded my XBOX1 to 2TB with this and works flawlessly. (You have to use XBOX HDD Partitioner 1.1 to adjust the cluster size otherwise it will only see 1Tb of a 2Tb drive)

Cons: Build Quality could be better but at the price, great. All 3 I ordered worked fine. Also you have to use electrical tape on the back to stop the contacts accidentally contacting the HDD. Limited documentation.

Other: works good and is cheap thats what what counts

  • good product, works well in most PC's

Pros: Very easy to use works on most PC's works on most SATA based devices for its price, its a good deal has 48bits LBA which means it can use drives larger than 137GB compadible with ULTRA ATA 133/100/66/33 works with windows, macs and linux it comes in a good, retail freindly packaging so if you owned a IT store you could sell it.

Cons: easy to bend the ide pins quite fragile (although if you are careful with it, it shouldn't break)

Other: it is a very good product for the price, but if you are going to buy this, just be very careful with it, i bent some of the pins just i managed to bend them back straight.

  • IDE Adaptor

posted by canadish on 08:51:30 G11T 12/11/2012 certificated customer

Pros: Has a jumper, and has the usual configuration for this kind of adapter.

Cons: This adapter has no guide on IDE slot. This can lead to putting the cable on back to front. This means you will have to pay attention and correctly orientate the cable to attach it the correct way round.

Other: Will buy again. Latest project required a jumper. This adapter fits the bill. I am very happy with this.

posted by Kobai on 10:15:21 G9T 21/09/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It works like it should. Just plug it into your sata device and pata cable/molex connector and it gets recognized by the motherboard.

Cons: The solder joints seem oxidized or corroded. (check the product picture) But this doesn't affect the working of the product. Building quality is not the best, but it works.

    Other: Simple product that works.

  • Works great on XBOX

posted by jonnyenglish on 11:22:10 G10T 17/10/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works great. Easy to install and is very campact and small.

Cons: Bit flimsy. Build quality is 'acceptable' though.
Some Games wont load from the HDD. Though relatively few. But this may be to do with the cluster size since I have a 2 TB HDD. I doubled the cluster size using XBOX HDD Partitioner 1.1 so it would support 2Tb (as one partition) instead of the previous 1Tb Maximum. My old IDE-SATA converter it worked with every game but the DVD drive would not work. If you have a 2Tb (as one partition) you may have slight issues with some games loading from HDD.

Other: Great . Seems to be perfect upto 1Tb. Doubling the cluster size so XBOX can support 2Tb has occassional issues with this adapter, I believe. Best XBox 1 SATA Adapter I have found.

  • Great product

posted by dukeys on 13:08:38 G4T 11/04/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Works out of the box (on Ubuntu at least)
    Power LED
Has a molex power connector that supplies power to the device and to the sata power connector
Can be used on old motherboards to boot from a sata drive, Note: You may have to select SCSI device in the bios to do so
Uses jumpers to select between master and slave device
    Very small device
Plugs straight into the back of the sata drive

Cons: cheap construction, dodgy soldering but seems to work fine.
You can't plug it into a sata cable, it must be plugged into the drive itself (unless you have a male female sata cable)
This may be an issue if space is limited

Other: Good product, no real drawbacks

  • THE BEST ADAPTER FOR XBOX original

Pros: I got this in the mail in victoria BC canada took 3 weeks but once it arrived it worked like a charm! just be sure to use xbohdm hard drive manager and set both your cd drive and this adapter as Cable select pins 1-3on this card with the included jumper. after you do that it works like a dream!! i spent lots of money on other adapters and bought locally adapters all didnt work this one did so i bought 2 just to be safe id recomend the same to anyone buy 2 to avoid waiting again if its not perfect (both mine arrived fine though)

Cons: only con is waiting time if you live in canada be patient looking at least 3 weeks to be honest but it will come and tracking is non existant after it leaves hong kong.

Other: Deal Extreme rules, always buy orders under 10$ 20$ max to avoid customs, like duty charges so if your spending 100$ on here make 10 orders lol it works (thumbs up)

Pros: Cheap. Easier to set up than similar products. Has power and disk activity LEDs.

Cons: cheap build quality. Hit or miss, works or it doesn't.

Other: Seems I got bum luck on this one, overwhelming positive reviews speak well for the product. Did not work for me at all though.
