Pros: Strongly recommended for family and friends Recommended

Cons: - this was a simple swap in/out for the old controller - took the same DC adapter - cables were a bit longer than the original controller (was a pro to me) - does not look at me with suspicious eyes

Other: I recommend this to anyone who, such as I, want a nonjudgmental, non chocolate flavored RGB light controller to replace an old one that just decided one day to stop working or just sits there with so much disdain in its heart for me that it just wants to make my life a little more dark and a little less colourful.

Pros: - this was a simple swap in/out for the old controller - took the same DC adapter - cables were a bit longer than the original controller (was a pro to me) - does not look at me with suspicious eyes

Cons: - wish the fade function was slower, even at the lowest speed it still cycles quite quickly - wish it would strobe on a selected colour other than just white - remote seems flimsy - does not taste like chocolate

  • nice remote

Pros: Its small and lightweight, has plenty of buttons to use. The connection to the led stripe was the one i needed so thats perfect for me. I connected to a 5m RGB 5050 led stripe and it works great!

Cons: Red and Green lines of colors are switched. You click red and get green. And the colors printed in the remote are not like the ones you get with the leds. the strobo flashing mode is only available with white and it fades so it is not like a flash effect.

    Other: Very good remote.

  • Works as advertised mostly!

Pros: Works great as advertised! You can select the individual colors from the remote, there's only slight differences between them but it does give you a bit more controll over the specific color you want. the buttons are clicky and it works fairy well in general.
    Basic functions:
Flash: goes between 7 colors: red, blue, green, white, purplish, turquose, yellow-orange.
strobe: fades the white color light in and out only.
fade: fades between the primary colors but basically blends from one color into another color so its alot of different colors
smooth: This one is wierd, it just jumps from red to blue to green, it doesnt 'fade' or 'blend' like blend does, so i'm not sure why they call this smooth?

Cons: One wierd thing, you can only strobe the color white, Strobe is basically where it slowly fades from off to full bright on and back to off again. You can controll how slow or fast it strobes, but you cant strobe any other color than white, or at least i cant figure out how. Also, by default this unit only has a plug for A/C adapter no wires for hooking it up to your car for instance, but on the bottom side of the PCB board inside the unit, there are very easy posts sticking up to solder on external wires to hook up to something other than an A/C adapter. That was nice of them!
One other thing, on ALL these cheaper controllers (sub 20 bucks) i've found you cannot lower the brightness while its in a programmed mode (like flash, or strobe, fade, smooth,) it's mostly logical as those modes usually start from 0 brightness and go to 100% but it would be nice to have an 'overall brightness' button so you could make it only go up to 50% and strobe back down say.....

Other: I think the buttons on my remote are all mixed up or the unit is not set up very well. I did a little rewiring to hook up my own connector for my specific strip lights, and after doing so, the primary color buttons are mixed up, The red button makes a blue light, the green button makes a red light, the blue button makes a green light. Now its possible that i just wired them backwards, but why do the function buttons not make sense either? Flash is actually smoothly transitioning between the 7 colors, meanwhile 'smooth' jumps from red to blue to green, very quicly with no transition or fading? I think the remote is labeled incorrectly or the chip inside the box is messed up backwards.
While it works great for the most part, and i can go in and resolder the leads to make the buttons actually do the right colors, it wont ever fix the 'program' buttons, not a HUGE deal though. For under 8 bucks this is the cheapest controller box you can find, and it does basic functions just fine, IF my original box had been fried, this would have been a sufficient replacement to get the most out of my lights.
I dont regret the purchase besides the fact that i dont need it so its just kind of a backup now other than that, a nice cheap box that mostly gets the job done with a little confusion at first!
