  • L+R Buttons Switches for NDS Lite

    posted by VOC1794 on 15:17:38 G2T 13/02/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I cannot distinguish these buttons from the originals. The new L+R button give a feeling of having your NDS a few days again. I hope they last longer than the Nintendo parts.

Cons: You need to have SMD solder skills. A normal soldering iron will not go. You really need a small soldering tip to do the job. Buy a magnifier as well.

Other: Visually are these buttons not distinguishable from the originals. Beware of the fact that you need to have SMD soldering skills for replacing these switches. They are cheap, it will extend the life of your NDS.

  • Great price for the switches

Pros: Really good price when you order 5+ pairs at a time (better than what I could find on Ebay). I use a SMD rework station to remove the old defective switches after the board is removed from the console. Usually the best temperature I find is a setting of approx. 230-240 C any higher and I find the board blisters alittle.

Cons: The plastic on the switch tends to crisp alittle if you use a rework station, i.e. the temperature that melts the lead free solder tends to also melt the plastic on these switches. So I tend to use the more time consuming method of a soldering iron.

Other: Good for bringing back the L/R triggers.

  • Working Great!

Pros: Pefect solution for a non-working shoulder button. They are great and have been working perfectly for past few months. The shoulder button works like it was new. No more temporary fix by blowing air on the button.

Cons: They are just a tad-bit small than the original ones (nothing to worry though, they got soldered nicely and worked well) Very hard to fix unless you have good soldering knowledge and skills. My brother helped me fix them for me but it's not easy to solder them. (They are tiny in size)

Other: Buy them if you are able to fix it by yourself. they are tough to solder but not impossible. If you know someone with soldering skills, they could fix it easily.

Pros: great solution for replacing ds buttons this works like a push button my right button was damaged, I carefully opened the ds, I was equipped with tweezers, screwdriver and soldering station with a magnifying glass. Board adopt any necessary before welding adopt a sponge to clean the pond in excess do not drink coffee before welding: P, the buttons are very small and could damage the DS if you're not careful

Cons: i buyed 3 of them because i'm not expert in soldering :O very hard to install please pay attention to use a good low power solder machine and a good tip excellent pond with low melting point

Other: be careful when soldering ....

  • Must have soldering experience

Pros: These are perfect replacements for DS consoles that have broken or defective L/R buttons. There is very little noticeable different between these and the original DS button once everything is reassembled. Many DS (dis)assembly videos are available on the internet to guide you through the process.

Cons: You must know what you are doing to install these. They are difficult to get to with a soldering iron. (I ended up using hot air soldering.) Installation can be tricky.

Other: If you have some decent soldering skills, these are a perfect replacement for damaged or broken DS L/R buttons.

  • Might be a must?

Pros: I had to get these to replace a bad L trigger (Metroid Prime Hunters, lol), and they did the trick perfectly!

    Cons: TINY TINY TINY.
You're going to need a nice desk with good lights for this. Maybe even something you can bring closer to eye-level.

Other: Buy these. And don't forget a tri-wing driver.

  • Nice, but hard to install

posted by GoblinTechies on 22:22:49 G7T 13/07/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: They're nice. I can't tell which is better, the factory default ones or these ones.
I had to fix my R button because it didn't work, but I decided to swap both of them for these since I might as well.
Good if you don't like your buttons now

Cons: Very hard to install. Compared to the on/off switch (which I also had to install) it was way harder (the on/off took one attempt to fix). Keep in mind that this was the very first time I had to do something like this (solder new parts on to a circuit board with a lot of precision), I think I did ok. Maybe it would have been better to try it on something not worth about 80$.
On the good side, my DS now turns on. The bad side is that I can no longer play games that require the right button :(

Other: Buy at least 3, maybe more. I lost one, messed up on the soldering on 2, got one working (left). The last one I messed up on also made my right button no longer functional :(

Pros: Fits perfectly, nicer clicky feel than original ds lite buttons.. o.O dirt cheap from a person used to repair soldered components, it's pretty easy to install, was expecting some trouble but worked the first time

Cons: None, except maybe it has to be installed but that's not a con for me. I wish I had both buttons changed since it's not the same clicky feel as the original parts

Other: No brainer, buy it, it's perfect.

  • Must be soldered, AMAZING PRODUCT

posted by punkonjunk on 20:52:31 G1T 02/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: WORKS GREAT. These are SUPER hard to find, and NEVER this cheap! Finally, I don't have to tear apart broken DS's I buy second hand, I just have these! my shoulder buttons always go out in every handheld I own (besides my PSP... hm...) so these are a damn GODSEND.
They work GREAT so far, for me.

Cons: Must be soldered. Not really a con, but important to know - it doesn't just snap in. you could possibly disassemble and add the likely broken snappy disk into yours, if these are constructed the same way as the NDSL stock ones are, I don't know.

Other: GET THEM. GET A WHOLE BUNCH OF THEM. GET A FEW 100,000 OF THEM AND BATHE IN THEM.
Thank you DX for stocking these!
