  • Works great for my Desktop - Not for Samsung TV

posted by GamblorAU on 23:05:41 G7T 20/07/2011 certificated customer

Pros: This product is extremely easy to use, simply plug it in to your computers USB port and run the setup file received with the device. Using Windows XP this was a very simple process.
I found this device works much better than my old PCI wifi card, receiving an Excellent signal strength at all times.
It is worth mentioning that there is a handy little green light to indicate the device is powered once plugged in.

Cons: The plastic casing is held together well enough but it does feel a little cheap. Though for a price this low you simply cannot complain.
This wifi dongle has the RT2070 chipset - This cannot be used on a Samsung TV as a replacement for Samsung's wifi dongle WIS09ABGN(LinkStick).

Other: A wifi usb dongle for under $10. Bargain.

Pros: For the price I think will be hard to find anything better. It is very simple to use. Just install the drivers, then plug into an USB port. Windows will detect it and a list of available wireless networks will be displayed. Just select the one you want to use and enter the network password. That simple! I use it in my desktop PC, because I needed to move the wireless router to another room. Now, I don't need to connect the CPU to the router with a cable.

Cons: It is not the most beautifull, nor the smallest one, but for that price...

Other: I works well, it is cheap, it is easy to use, so I recommend everyone to buy it without any doubt.

  • A good buy for decent moneys

Pros: This one is a good buy.
It works as promised - just plug-and-play, and
A good looking device in terms of aestheics - the plastic is not cheap or smelly.
Helped me to start to migrate my home network into wireless.
At first I used it as an access point, now it acts as a regular NC in my son's workstation.

Cons: It is a tad too big - I found it problematic to fit behind my desktop and had to use the front port, which makes it vulnerable to accidental knock-ons.

Other: A good product but a bit too large.
The price could drop a bit as well.

  • Nicely Done!

Pros: Works right out of the box, tried it with Windows XP, Vista and 7, no problems so far. Excellent wireless distance and has a very nice software, this is not the best one, but it is easy to understand for novice in the network field.

Cons: Its a little bit big for narrow spaces, like if you want to put it behind your CPU.

Other: At the end, does the job perfect, just make sure to put it in a USB port that you wont kick it or push it agaisnt a wall or any other thing that might get on he way. It is an excellent choice for advance and novice people.

  • Good device

Pros: Good wi-fi the adapter. It is easy-to-use, convenient in use, in the complete set it was delivered cd with drivers. In Windows 7 it was defined without problems, even the disk with drivers wasn't necessary. The smart phone mine has found it without problems.

Cons: The minus is one and in my opinion big, it is the size of the device, very big for it.As there are some subquality work with a software, but direct hands and a few patience solve this problem.

Other: As a whole the good device, the price justifies on 100 %. It is happy with the acquisition.

  • Works with Ubuntu

posted by bhassett on 04:28:01 G12T 16/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is probably the cheapest 802.11b/g adaptor that I can find. Verified working with WPA2 on an 802.11g network. Build quality seems good.

Cons: This would never win a beauty contest. The unit is big, square and very plain. Because the unit is big, it will not fit if your USB ports are close together, so you may need to use a USB extension cable or a USB hub.

Other: Very cheap and works well. Not very pretty.

  • Nice hardware, works fine and cheap.

Pros: Works out of the box with Ubuntu 10.10 (it was recognized automagically). With an older Ubuntu 6.10 it didn't work. In Windows it needs the included drivers (tested only on Windows XP).

Cons: It range is suitable for indoor use only. But if you know that before buying it, it is not really a con.

Other: Recommended if your WIFI hotspot is in the same room or very close.

  • Cheap, and works

posted by Jrblast on 18:19:21 G6T 04/06/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It works fine once you install the software that comes with it. The software is a little more advanced than the regular windows software which I like, but you can use the Windows software if you prefer.

Cons: It's pretty big, and the case is mostly empty space. They could have probably made it half the size without even changing the circuit board.

Other: If all you need is a way to let you computer connect to your wireless network, this will work, but I'm sure the other adapters on DX are probably the same.

  • Works as advertised, for a very good price

    posted by Centauri27 on 13:55:22 G4T 21/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - inexpensive way to connect to wireless G network - compact, lightweight

Cons: - though compact, it's still bigger than I'd like - detachable cap easily lost - included software seems powerful and full featured, but geeky to use - need to install a separate driver

Other: This is a very inexpensive method to regain wireless connectivity if the one in your notebook has broken. And if it has broken, it's probably because the notebook is very old. That means it doesn't make sense to pay a lot to regain wireless capability of an old, obsolete notebook. Highly recommended for this price.
