Pros: It's really cheap! It is bright enough for indoor use and close range outdoor tasks. The clip is rather strong.

Cons: The twist to turn on feels a bit insecure, it feels like it may turn on in your pocket. It is not the brightest 3$ light. I own two of these and two sku.44705. The sku.44705 is definitely brighter! Cannot tail-stand.

Other: A decent budget light if you're specifically looking for an light with a clip and twist. Otherwise there are brighter lights for the same price.

Pros: -I bought 2, and they both work -Outside build quality looks decent -Handy belt clip / pocket clip included

Cons: -The led pill PCB is really crap quality. No gold plating, don't know how long it will work properly -Performance with NiMh's is quite bad

Other: Not the best light, but good value for money still because of the cheap price. Good to stash around car, boat, etc.

  • 0.5 watt or less light

Pros: Incredibly cheap light. Whiter than most cheap lights. Clip is strong. Just as bright as a Fenix E01 AAA light using a 1.2 volt 900mah rechargeable cell in them.
It appears brighter than the Fenix at first glance (but isn't) because the light it a little white than the Fenix & an Arc AA P.
Brighter than the ARC P AAA light (but too bulky for an AAA light).

Cons: It's bulky for an AAA light. About the size as many single AA lights. Twist on/off is too loose. Will turn on or unscrew off in your pocket.
Might be OK in a top shirt or top coat pocket using the clip, but will turn on or unscrew laying lose inside pockets. Maybe OK to keep in the car, tool box or drawer.
Beam spot is average width, with plenty of spill... could be a pro or con depending on what you want.

Other: Bulky for an AAA light. Head screws on & off to lose. Only a 0.5 watt or less light. Being a whiter LED makes me think it might be a modern one, so efficiency & runtime might be good.

  • Not Terrible

Pros: This light was a pleasant surprise. I ordered two of these to use as emergency disposable lights that I could stash in bags I don't regularly use and I found that they're actually pretty robust. They're not particularly bright but both of my lights had reasonably white emitters and were about as bright as one of the lights from SKU.1253.
I like the idea of a twist on lights for backup lights. It just seems more robust to me.

Cons: The light definately isn't a 3W LED. It puts out a decent amount of light for the price and size but don't expect SKU.32875 levels of light from it.

Other: They're pretty ok lights for the price. If you have $4 to throw at a stupid cheap light, get this one. If you want a better every day light that costs less than $10, get SKU.32875

  • Decent little light

Pros: This is a small, sturdy little light. I purchased a similar design from another site and used it as my EDC. One day it came out of my pocket (my own fault) while doing 70 on the highway on my motorcycle. I thought it was gone forever. That night I ordered 2 of these to replace it. Went back to the road I was on and cruised the shoulder and found it. Had some scuffs on either end but it still worked like new! It even rained over night. This MXDL is built even more solid than the other brand but they both have identical internals. While not a photon cannon, it is pretty good for a generic LED driven by a single AAA. Great to throw in your pocket or clip on as an EDC. I use it all the time at home, in the yard, and at work.

Cons: The LED is just a generic 5mm diode. Works for what it is but could be so much better. The regulated driver cannot handle a 10440 battery. I tried it on one of the 2 I bought and the driver burned out immediately. Could not revert back to AAA if I needed to which leads me to my next point... Diode cannot handle a 10440 battery directly driven. Diode lasted less than 5 minutes before it gave up the ghost. This light used a plastic pill like all the other cheapies. No heat sinking here and no upgrading the emitter and/or regulator without making a custom aluminum or copper pill. One of the other buyers here (ecotack) claims to have successfully upgraded the emitter to a Cree R5 and a higher output driver but unless his came with an aluminum pill I don't see it surviving for long.

Other: Awesome, practical little torch! Can't beat the price. Get a few because you will want to give them out to family and friends.

  • Great for modding

Pros: Its great. ive bought 2 of them and they work wonderfully for my purposes, I replaced the original emitters with cree Q5's and they are bright.

Cons: Its internal diameter is about 8-10mm so fitting a driver circuit is VERY difficult but not impossible if you unsolder and rewire some of the components (i bought a better driver).
The original LED is next to useless even when being powered by 10440's.
The original LED does not work at voltaged lower than 1.3 volts :(. This means that your 1.2 volt NiMH AAA batteries will not work in it :(

Other: If your looking for a super cheap/super small flashlight to mod this is as small as it comes.

Pros: Its a very well made little torch. Small and bright enough to be very useful.

Cons: LED could be better. Not a 3W LED.

Other: I will be buying more of these, I thing they are Ace. Perfect to keep in your glove box or hand bag. At this price, if you lose one, buy another.

Pros: Some reviews were complaining about brightness. I don't known what they expect for a 3.4 USD light! Item is very bright for a 1 AAA - rechargeable battery energy supply. Build quality is more than acceptable.

Cons: I can't find problems with the light. Could it be cheaper?

Other: Maybe I'll by another anyway. If you want a bright light, cheap (if you use to lose little objects) BUY IT RIGHT NOW!

  • Cheap light, not really worth it

posted by FreezeXJ on 14:26:42 G4T 07/04/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's a damned cheap LED, it's white, and it is well-made. I think i can throw it around quite a bit, it screws well (it's a twisty). It has a nice black finish, well anodized and a good clippy, so it doesn't float around in your pocket.

Cons: It's dim, big for an AAA light, and battery life isn't exactly great. Dim? Yep it is, my Fenix E01 beat it, and that one isn't exactly a photon cannon. Battery life was some 50 minutes with a full rechargable AAA, 900mAh, 1.24v.

Other: It's cheap, well built, and it might pack a 'wow' for those who never had a LED light before, but it's not worth the money in my eyes. Save a little longer, and get something decent.

  • Very dim, very cheap

posted by compasillo on 19:44:16 G11T 01/11/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: + Well machined, good threads
+ It can take 10440 li batteries (it doesn't mean the output increases too much, though) and has a driver board
+ Small form factor. Fits a pocket easily
+ A clip to attach it
+ Very useful when low light is needed (watching your children bedroom, i.e.)

Cons: - Plastic lens and reflector (not expected better materials for that price)
    - Very dim with AAA (even dimmer than sku 1253). I wonder if some of the previous reviewers had received the same torch...

Other: This is a good and very affordable option for a dim light if you need that. Small and realiable. Could be a modding candidate if you find a reflector.
