  • Great product for a small price

Pros: The price of this macro extension tube/ring is probably the best pro! It is made of metal.

Cons: It isn't possible to use your autofocus when the macro extension tube, but when shooting macro photos i don't use the autofocus anyway. There were two scratches on one of the rings, but that does not affect the quality of the photos

Other: Buy this macro extension tube/rings instead of an expensive macro lens.

  • Sturdy Macro Extension Tube

Pros: I thought that this Macro Extension Tube was made of plastic, but it is actually made of metal. Tube is very sturdy and building quality is very good considering the price

Cons: Does not have electric connection, so the lens and camera can't communicate, but i totally understand it when you look at the price. Would be good if all the parts had marking on how many millimeters long they are, would help those who want to calculate the best amount of extension

Other: Really good extension tube if you want to shoot some macro.

  • Haven't used but seem to be of sturdy build

Pros: Seems to be sturdy and well built overall. I haven't used them, but I think it will hold up nicely.

Cons: metal on metal rubbing sound and feel as you screw them together- they are not difficult to put together and take apart, but it would be nice if they didn't do this.

Other: Great budget option for macro photography. Excited to give it a go.

Pros: A cheap way to achieve great looking macro images without the need of an expensive macro lens. Solid build and convenient with the option to screw off the rings and adjust it's length. (tried out with 50mm f1.2, very narrow depth of field, but it looks great.

Cons: As of now I don't have any. Further testing and usage will reveal if there are any downsides with this technique.

Other: A good product for the prize. If you want macro shots, go for this one. It's cheap, it works and it won't break carrying a heavy L-series lens.

  • Cheap, good and useful

Pros: All metal, good quality, never jams. I achieved great photos using it. Its split in three extension tubes you can combine them as you wish for a different amount of magnification. Its very cheap.

Cons: Obviously you lose your autofocus capability and if you dont own a full manual lens you also lose your aperture control over your lens. You need a good amount of light, and in wider apertures the depth of field is minimal.

Other: I strongly recommend this product, it satisfied all my expectations. You will take stunning photos with a very low budget.

  • For closer-up shots

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: The tubes are made of metal, so you don't have to worry about breaking them. Fitting the tubes is easy enough, so it can be done quite quickly.

Cons: The packaging could have been better to be honest; the box is just big enough and it looked quite used and abused when I got it. But as I said the tubes are sturdy, so no real problem there.

Other: If you want to get closer to your subject or even do real macro stuff; this is one way to do it. You can get extension tubes with electrical contacts to have control over aperture and auto-focus, but they'll cost you a lot more. If you're just playing around with macro or starting out, this is a good investment.

  • Very nice buy

Pros: Really sturdy metal. The aluminium is perfect and has a nice grip to it. You should buy this if you wish to do cheap macro photography.

Cons: One of the rings has a bit of a bad threading, so it's hard to make it fit 100% correct, but it's not a big deal when you think about the price, but it is a little annoyance though.

Other: Just buy it. You won't regret it, and if you need more features, you can later upgrade to a more expensive tube with AF.

  • Good Deal for Amature

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good built, sturdy alloy metal.
Opens the opportunity for amateurs with tight budget to explore macro photography.
With this you can really get close to your subject and take the picture. It works perfectly with my 75-200mm lens. I prefer to use it with my 75-200mm because I don't need to get so close with the subject in comparison with the 18-55mm lens .
Depth of field is really shallow, if proper combination of the extender are matched and focus properly a stunning macro image can be captured.

Cons: Not enough documentation and precaution so just be careful not to force when installing and taking it off your camera and lens can be damaged.
Considering the price... its not a cons.
Not for pro since you will lose the capability to adjust your aprature.
Auto focus is also not working

Other: Highly recommend for those who want to explorer macro photography.

  • A good and cheap camera-tool

posted by Tkmadbrain on 10:28:01 G8T 09/08/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very easy to use - Very cheap - This extension tube is great for its price. Words great with my Sigma 105mm macro lense, and help me get very close to insects and other objects.

Cons: - Be careful when attaching this extension tube to your camera. If you screw it too tight onto your camerahood, it will be stuck forever unless you want to break you camera. If you handle it carefully and attach it not as hard as you would do with a regular lense, you wont get any problems when unattaching it. - If you want to use your flash with this tool, I must disappoint you. The built flesh does not reach beyond the lense and will give you crappy photos. Rather use high ISO and shutter-speed.

Other: I have nothing else to add! Just be carefull when attaching it to your camera and I'm sure you'll be satisfied with it :)
