  • Useful antennas to get better signal

posted by Cubytus on 19:28:17 G1T 18/01/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Sturdily built. they may not give you a more powerful signal, but a more reliable one in a difficult environment, where wifi has to travel through walls, steel structure.

Cons: Mine came within an exploded packaging. Be sure to check yours if it's not missing parts. A tad expensive addition to a $60 router.

Other: If you signal is unstable, you don't get the download speeds you should, this is the pair to use.

  • Great Antenna

    posted by mightymouse3062 on 15:36:56 G1T 11/01/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Easy to install High Gain Fits WRT54G/WRT54GL without problems

Cons: Packaging for the antennas fell apart in shipping and the cross brace in the middle looked like it was never assembled.

Other: The exact antennas sold on Amazon are $20+ each so I would recommend purchasing them through DX.

  • Works! Strengthen reception by 25%

    posted by domng1803 on 19:43:52 G10T 06/10/2012 certificated customer

Pros: It works. The signal strength is tentatively 25% better. Now my router can reach down to the living room and bedroom upstairs. Router is in the middle floor of course.

Cons: The packaging that it came in wasn't new. Obviously is has been opened and glued back. It was also missing the holder that the product was suppose to come with.

Other: It is the original, it works. Now i have better signal strength at home.

  • the real thing?! I think so...

posted by DieWolf on 03:23:45 G4T 10/04/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Really good price and good build quality. Moderate reception gain. Good packaging and shipping times to South Africa.

Cons: Did not give me the expected increase in reception... The little stabiliser-arm-thing is not necessary and I'm not using it.

Other: This did not give me the expected gain in reception that I was hoping for... But then again for this price any small gain helps. If you buy it don't expect more than a 2% to a 5% gain in reception. But for this price it's probably worth it.

  • It works!

posted by Eleagah on 09:37:47 G9T 04/09/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It works! I just plug it (it was very easy to plug it) and get my laptop and start to try to use the wi-fi network over my entire apartment. It works in every single room. Even in the bathroom, sat in my throne :) it works.

Cons: Don´t expect to make your network works faster. We are talking about the signal range!

Other: If you want to grow your wi-fi network range, and are in doubt to buy it, buy it. I´m very satisfied. A friend, who bougth it too, have the same experience.

  • Linksys Antenna

posted by lleandro on 14:53:22 G5T 08/05/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very easy to install. Just remove original Linksys antenna and plug this one. Item appears to be genuine item. Much cheaper than buying the same item in the retail channel. I was concerned about the size, but it is ok.

Cons: Don't expect to have a very different result. Additional 5dBi of gain over the original antenna usually doesn't make a great amount of difference to reception. My expectation was bigger than the final result. Same range coverage maybe with a little difference.

Other: I don't recommend. Maybe you can buy because it is really cheap and you will have a very small difference in results.

  • A worthwhile upgrade to a classic router

posted by portner on 22:31:37 G3T 30/03/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Item appears to be genuine item and seems to give the rated gain. Easy to install. Much cheaper than buying the same item in the retail channel.

Cons: It's an insignificant point, but 5dBi of gain over the stock antennae usually doesn't make a great amount of difference to reception. It's unlikely to make areas where there is no signal usable. (Hey, I had to put something in this field…) The antennae holder seems superfluous.

Other: If you're not getting five bars of reception from your current set up, buy it.

  • Good product!

posted by KrisEz on 02:43:33 G2T 03/02/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I think these might actually be Linksys built antennas! They fit my WRT-54G and they make a noticable difference to the range. They probably work best with DD-WRT firmware as you can really take advantage of the increased output power. The elbow joins snap to 90 and 180 degrees and the pivots are firm.

Cons: The antenna joiner, even though its completely unnescecarry, is very flimsy.

Other: If you are still flogging some old linksys gear for whatever reason, these are an awesome find, and a mere fraction of the price that you would expect to pay elsewhere.
