Pros: Takes 2xAA. Seems to last longer than those that take 3xAAA. As a wider coverage but still have good brightness in the center. Simple on/off switch.

Cons: One of the plastic tip on the door/hinge broke off 6 months ago, but surprisingly the door/hinge still managed to close shut with friction. And finally, the other plastic tip broke off last week, now there is nothing to hold the batteries in place. I could probably rubber-band it together when I need to use it again. Sometime the switch gets jammed. But with a quick tap, it will click in place.

Other: If you are concerned with the build quality and don't mind using 3xAAA, look into this one. http://www.dealextreme.com/p/1-1-1w-white-led-red-3-mode-led-headlamp-3-aaa-12924

Pros: Very bright. Has both spot and wide beam at the same time - that's handy.
    Simple on-off botton.
    Takes 2 AA batteries.

Cons: You need a tool to open the battery compartment, and, sadly, the latch looks like something that will break easily - just a plastic tab that you bend (carefully) to open the compartment.

Other: Nice lamp, probably worth the seven dollars, depending on how long it lasts. But would be worth more with a better designed latch...

Pros: A nice LED headlamp for a good price. Uses 2 AA batteries. The lights are pretty bright. A very useful item, easy to carry around when you need your hands free.

Cons: It came broken. The base was smashed off of the headband. I could fix it, using my old headlamp, but if occasions like this bother you too much, i suggest asking DX for extra wrap when you order something so easily breakable.

Other: Quality of the plastic could be better and harder to break, but all in all, it's a good headlamp - cheap and bright.

  • Good For Close Work

Pros: Decent light for close work. Fairly wide beam.

Cons: Straps are not real comfortable on my head. Light feels heavy with the batteries in front with the light. Switch does not work with batteries installed, you have to remove the battery cover to work the switch.

Other: Light quality is decent for close work only, not much use beyond arms length. I can use the light at work as a mechanic, but would not buy another.

Pros: good and cheap. the 1W lamp is quite bright, better than 6 normal led's. gives a good uniform illumination.

Cons: build quality is bad. replacing the batteries is a challenge - one can break it very easy and make it useless. women and children could not replace the batteries (not joking) :) the elastics will fit only on a child's head - so NOT FOR ADULTS (unless you are small-headed), or you extend (or replace) them yourself. the LED on mine did not come centered, the lence came in scratched

    Other: good buy

  • Great for the money

Pros: Great headlamp for the price. Bright when batteries are new. fits smaller heads well and is not too unbalanced. For the money you can't beat it.

Cons: Plastic is a little cheap. The hinge on the battery cover doesn't look like it will last many years. My switch sticks a little from time to time. Bright LED dims after a few minutes of constant use. Either not properly heat sinked or there is a lack of DC-DC inverter inside (driven straight from batt output).

Other: For $7 you absolutely cannot beat this. It has totally paid for itself in the first week of ownership. I use it all the time with rechargable NIMHs AAs. It is great. Even though some of the build quality is suspect, and it dims slightly quite quickly, its stilll a great deal.

  • Great headlamp

Pros: Great price!! BRIGHT!! 1 watt LED and uses 2 AA batteries. Is not weighted too heavy to the front and has a usefull angle adjustment.

Cons: Build quality a little cheap, but still better than price would suggest. Plastics are a little cheap and can see them breaking and cracking with overuse or carelessness. Use carefully and should last a long time. Not sure if it is water proof, but does have seals on battery compartment.

Other: Can't beat the price for what you get. Super bright and already paid for itself with its usefullness in first few weeks.

  • One of the better headlamps

posted by kotare on 23:36:13 G5T 18/05/2010 certificated customer

Pros: I have had several headlamps, and this is one of the better ones, especially at the price. Takes AA batteries, better than AAA, as they last longer. Simple on/off switch. And NO flashing mode. Just on or off. The flashing mode in the other I have owned drive me bananas.

    Cons: Cant think of any.

Other: Buy it, you wont be disappointed.

  • Working fine!

    posted by DesertEagle50AE on 08:09:50 G3T 18/03/2010 certificated customer

Pros: This is a very cheap an very bright headlight! Just put in 2 AA Batteries and switch it on! The LED is bricht...I would say about 90 Lumen, maybe more.

Cons: The rubber bands for the head are a little bit short, but I can wear it although I have a big head. The lamp smells a bit funny, when you take it out of the box. I hope the smell will be gone after a few months.

Other: Works fine! Buy it - you won't find any cheaper ones!

  • Nice Headlamp

posted by tralewolf on 17:17:02 G9T 12/09/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very bright spot - Good amount of spill - Uses cheap and easy to find 2 AA batteries - Seems to be water resistant, maybe even dunkable. - Rubber click switch is stiff and deep enough so that it won't turn on in your bag but is still easy to activate. - Good runtime, 2xAA has more capacity than 3xAAA

Cons: - Very hard to open the battery compartment. I can do it with my finger but some people may have to use a tool. - Battery latch is small and because it is so stiff it looks to be prone to breaking. - Switch feels a little wobbly. - Overall construction is cheap feeling. - The balance is too front heavy as is the case for all headlamps of this type.

Other: Overall this is a very nice headlamp
