  • good module

Pros: I got it when it was on a good deal. It works as described. It came with the back up coin cell already installed. The chip also include free memory for other usage. Two for a price of one.

Cons: I recently purchased this Arduino RTC device, but do not have documentation included. You'll have to do some research for sample codes and library for your own. The battery is no longer able to recharge for mine.

Other: It's small, it works, price is great(cheaper than other brands with less features), and it's on prime!

  • Good RTC clock

Pros: Very compact design. It keeps the time with enough accuracy for almost all projects you could do with arduino. It also comes with a 32K I2C EEPROM that you can use for your project also!

Cons: It comes without the pins soldered (this may not be a disadvantage) but it comes without any pins, so those have to be procured separate.

Other: Useful in any application where a time base needs to be kept even at main power disconnection.

Pros: * works great * you get a small i2c EEPROM memory as a bonus. You can use this for other applications according to your needs. * rechargeable battery included * great product to learn about i2c, you can easily hook up a logical analyzer to it

Cons: nothing, really... oh, you only need to google yourself for the datasheets.

    Other: recommended!

  • RTC module, what's more to say?

posted by pcmihnea on 15:56:20 G9T 20/09/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: At $3.50 you get a module consisting of a DS1307 RTC IC, a 24C32AN EEPROM chip for extended usage, plus a LIR2032 Lithium-Ion 3.6V battery. The module came with the battery pre-installed (at almost full capacity, considering that it's autonomy is several years), I assume due to it being preset on a certain time, but I disconnected it to solder the pins, so I don't know for sure. It has a place to solder a DS1820 1-wire thermometer (that has a separate pin to control it, not being I2C compliant). It has an "BAT" pin to connect it to your ADC pin in order to measure battery voltage.

Cons: The fact that it lacks pins isn't a disadvantage, depending on your application (you can easily solder straight or 90 degrees pins, or the cables directly). But a great disadvantage is a design flaw - the crystal oscillator case isn't soldered to the board, making the module very unstable, or even useless, so I recommend soldering it before usage.

Other: Useful for projects which require a RTC.

  • Works great on Arduino Mega

Pros: Great RTC. Comes with battery, and is very easy to be added to Arduino project. Also can held temperature sensor (DS18B20), it is not included but you can add it.

Cons: Luck of pinheads. So you have to mount, or to make wire conections.

Other: Very useful product. Not expensive but great help in real time applications. Especially ones where something has to be scheduled over long time period.

Pros: // This code tests the DS1307 Real Time clock on the Arduino board. // The ds1307 works in binary coded decimal or BCD. You can look up // bcd in google if you aren't familior with it. There can output // a square wave, but I don't expose that in this code. See the // ds1307 for it's full capabilities. // DS1307 I2C RTC DS1307 24C32 Real Time Clock Module for Arduino (Works with Official Arduino Boards)

Other: bon produit je n'ai pas encore tester le 24c32 pour bientôt

  • Good working clock with battery

posted by josdamen on 07:17:31 G11T 07/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good quality product. Has good solid soldering. Can be used as clock and for eeprom variable storage. This all via serial interface, only 2 data wires SDA and SCL are needed. Can be directly connected to arduino uno, without extra resitors. For arduino there is special library for this clock chip ds1307. See link http://www.ladyada.net/learn/breakoutplus/ds1307rtc.html for an example.

Cons: The module has two chips , clock and eeprom. I only have used the clock chip. This chip also has small eeprom inside. The two headers are not clear, and neede to be soldered after buying.

Other: Good product. Could be cheaper if eeprom was left out. I do not need this.

Pros: Good quality soldering and pcb. Header is missing but soldering this is not a problem. Clock 1307 works direcly connected to arduino uno. No additional resistors needed. Battery is also working well.

Cons: Two headers purpose not clear, there are two devices on the pcb, clock and eeprom. Eeprom not yet used. Shipping come in esd bag rapped in bubble cover

Other: Good product for good price. Easy connection to arduino uno

posted by catarrh on 12:07:24 G10T 14/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good build quality Woks as supposed

Cons: No pinheads, needs soldering. Does not have pull up resistors, you should add them (2.2k are recommended, but works fine with 1.5k+)

Other: Great product, could only be better with pull up resistors and pinheads in place, to work "out of the box", but it would probably be unnecessary for some people.
