  • Good price, works great!

Pros: They are really cheap and work like a charm. Easy to use with the arduino platform, just download NewPing library. The range is good i have measured 300cm so im happy with the product. Also fast shipment.

Cons: No cons really they are just as advertised and work great. Not really a big issue but the price could be 50c cheaper. However considering the fact that there are no shipment costs i don't really have a problem with this

Other: Great value for your money, i would definately recommend these modules!

  • Incredibly well priced

Pros: This module is surprisingly sensitive (you'll need to calibrate it, but it works well afterward) for its price and has a much smaller minimum sensing distance than most sensors I've seen in the <$30USD range.

Cons: The return signal to your microcontroller or other device is a pulse duration, rather than a I2C or SPI or other standard digital protocol. As a result, using this is a bit more system intensive than some of the more expensive modules, so be ware of trying to fit this in to devices with precision timing requirements or other needs.

Other: Like any ultrasonic range sensor, it has its limitations, but it is by a wide margin the cheapest module of this quality level. I'd highly recommend it for hobby or educational use.

  • Suits my needs perfectly well!

Pros: Nice price! Works perfect for my work, but it may not suit everybody. The distance I'm measuring is maximum 50 cm. Lot's of info available online on how to hook up to Arduino, just google HC-SR04.

Cons: No cons for me, but if you want a longer range which is really stable, you might want to look for another option.

Other: Go for it, it's a winner!

  • A good ultrasonic sensor for distances under 51cm.

posted by tyranusaai on 12:43:09 G11T 08/11/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Labeled IO. Nice pins to conect to a protoboard. Works fine. Nice aesthetic, loos like eyes wich is perfect for little home made robots.

Cons: A little big. Its not the standar Sensor you will find in most toturials arround the internet but, there is a library to use it you can download. Works perfect between 3 and 51cm, but in less than 3cm, the measurring has noise.

Other: An ultrasonic sensor for distances under 51cm. I will buy it again.

  • cheap and reliable sensor

posted by MachoSmurf on 02:02:40 G11T 01/11/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: High build quality, cheap, lots of tutorials online when you search Google for HC-SR04

Cons: Reliable measurements only up to 70cm, sporadic measurements up to 250cm. This in contrary to what the description says

Other: Great and cheap sensor, couldn't find this kind of sensor anywhere else for this kind of price! if you don't have to accurately measure more than 70cm, BUY IT!

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Cheap, works, but it isn't perfect at all. Esae of use.

Cons: First of all: The datasheet (chineese) says: it can measure 20mm-4500mm. In real life (at least the two that I purchased) measuring ~50mm-1000mm. It's not my program, or hardware, it's the sensor itself, I measured it with scope. I'm disappointed...

Other: I would gladly have paid more for sensors, that meets my expectations(and datasheet), and could be used in the application.

Pros: It is a great ultrasonic sensor to measure distance. It works with Arduino and it is simple to programm. The product came in perfect conditions and it is working fine!

Cons: This model doesn't gives you a constantly distance when you are measuring distances more than half meter. With short distances it works perfectly

Other: It is something really nice to study. You send a signal and count the time until you receive your signal back, so you have the distance the module are from the "things". That is awesome!

  • Good distance measuring item

posted by Turboanimal on 15:38:46 G10T 13/10/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is my first distance measuring item. I hesitated between a IR module and this one, based on ultra-sound technology. This ultrasonic sensor is quite easy to use, for example to estimated a distance between your device and a wall or another object. You can also use it to detect the presence of an object in front of the device. I tested it from 30cm to about 2m. Great accuracy

Cons: I ordered 2 modules. One of them had two pin-connectors were creased. I had to realign them with a clamp.

Other: A great distance measuring device. Quite easy to use (with doc founded on the web).

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: first of all, it's soooo cheap. also, as soon as you finally get it working (which might take some time) it actually gives pretty good detail. I can read from 10cm to 300cm, or something like that. I've placed mine on a servo so I can use it on my robot to look around.

Cons: no manual, and the internet will offer the wrong help at first. you should use the NEWPING library. I repeat... other libraries didn't work for me, but the newping did. find it, use it, don't try to figure it out yourself.

Other: get this, get the newping library, have some fun.

  • Amazing sensor

    posted by bruno320 on 12:45:26 G8T 12/08/2013 certificated customer

Pros: - Well soldered - The quality is incredible - It works as the expected - Very useful for projects envolving robots - Low price

Cons: No cons, it is better than expected

Other: If you are considering making robots or someting that needs to detect someone's presence, that sensor will be a perfect purchase. You can control it with the arduino and use the collected data to turn on leds, motors, buzzers, to make graphics s x t and so on.
