Pros: Might be very nice for a home project with your arduino board. The quality is really nice, for the price I couldn't imagine such a nice product. If you need it, buy it. I used it and didn't find it difficult to use.

Cons: Except for the project, I couldn't find many usefulness, maybe when I have many projects I can tell, but till now I think it is not that useful. But it was cheap and it's here, if I need I use.

Other: If you know how to use and for what you should use, purchase it, otherwise, you can purchase it too, it's too cheap!

Pros: Small Hall sensor- needs a powerful magnet. The pìc from DX shows the backside. One red LED shows the magnet detection. If you look at it from the upper side, pinout is: Sensor output LEFT; 5 V VCC center; Ground ( GND) at the right side. LED and it´s R are on the LEFT side. This is NOT the same pinout as in other similar sensor boards.

Cons: No Pinout letters on the PC Board, the ones shown are misleading (S is on the right side where the ground must be connected). S should be where the Signal output is! The magnet must be powerful to give a sharp signal and a Schmitt trigger IC should be connected afterwards to get a clean signal for an Arduino. DX has better Hall sensor boards with Schmitt triggers included.

Other: There is a new Hall Sensor board at DX now- go for this! With Trimmer R and 2 LEDS and signal cleaning.(3.30$). To learn how to connect Hall sensors see the Manual from Melexis.

  • Simple on/off magnetic switch

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Cheap, simple to connect, when in "ON" state little red smd LED diode lights up.

Cons: This one does not provide a voltage output that is proportional to the applied magnetic field(like some other hall effect sensors).

Other: It's cheap and can be used as a switch. I intend to use it for speed detection of rotating objects.
