Pros: - Works great, sucks all the solder - The width of 2.5mm works for both small and large sized solder spots that need to be sucked out - The price is reasonable, the 1.5m should last for quite some time if you are not using it constantly

Cons: - Did not work without adding flux - took me some time to figure that out - While the dispenser/case holds the wire well, the -plastic melts easily while the wire is being heated

Other: I really recommend this this product - I don't think there is any other easy way of cleaning the SMT pads of solder and this leaves them flat and shiny

Pros: Braided copper wire. As stated in the description.... that is accurate.

Cons: Just didn't do the job that it is supposed to do. I did say at the beginning I am a novice user in this area. I generally just make do with other methods but thought I would give this stuff a go, but I was sadly disappointed

Other: First time user to wicking solder away from old soldered items. I wasn't impressed. It really didn't do the job. On thinking about this. I would perhaps use a flux on the item and heat it up to prepare the surface for the solder to run into the wick. Shouldn't the item just do that??? Anyway I think that would improve the result. A wire with multiple thin strands and with flux would do better then this item for me.

  • Reasonably good copper solder braid

Pros: o Very cheap price compared to local prices for the same thing!
o Very handy for sucking up solder when desoldering components or just cleaning up a the pins of a surface mount integrated circuit with fine pitch.
o Free planet wide transportation :-)

Cons: o As others have noted, I do not believe that this copper desoldering braid contains ANY flux at all - I've never noticed any and it does not work very well at all until I add my own resin flux to it. Once you add flux, it works almost like magic!

Other: Buy it, get some flux too if you don't have any. It does the job provdied you add your own flux.

  • Very good solder wick

Pros: Very easy to use. The best cost-effective solder wick in my opinion. Not the world's best but very good for its price. I recommend it. Use it for common soldering removal and also for BGA solder cleaning. This is the real deal, not a fake like some ebay sellers sell.

    Cons: No cons.

Other: A very good solder wick for it's price. If you can't afford top of the line solder wick, buy this one, it'll do the job well. It's a lot easier if you use additional flux.

  • Very good for the price

Pros: The best thing about this solder wick is that it is very cheap in comparison to well known brands of solder wick, the build quality is also pretty decent as I expected.

Cons: Although it says it contains flux I have noticed it does not suck up solder too well, perhaps it is my soldering iron but it seems to be flux free to me or at least a rather inactive flux.

Other: This is a very good deal, I recommend buying a few and soaking it in a good flux if possible then it is as good as many expensive solder wicks.

Pros: - Made in Japan - It really sucks up solder very well - Very high quality product - Suitable for helping to remove stubborn capacitors on computer motherboards and other surface-mounted components on a circuit board - If used sparingly, it should be able to last you a long time

Cons: - None in my case

    Other: GOOD STUFF!

  • Good quality desoldering wick

    posted by v14d4m1r on 12:50:41 G1T 01/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: For the price, it's very high quality. If you were to pay this much at a retail store, you'd get useless junk. The flux helps a lot.

Cons: It's a little tricky to use effectively, but that's pretty much true of all desoldering tools.

Other: You need a desoldering wick as much as you need solder. Make sure to always have some in your 'arsenal'. This works well.

  • Good desoldering wick

posted by GordonGecco on 15:38:03 G4T 30/04/2010 certificated customer

Pros: Low cost wick that does the job.
    Saturated with no-clean RMA flux.

Cons: There are better brands available (but they also cost more).

Other: Fairly good desoldering wick that will work for most desoldering jobs.

  • Pretty good soldering wick

posted by Otatiaro on 02:48:41 G1T 19/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's a pretty good soldering wick. Not as efficient as pre-tinned wick but very usable.

Cons: When used alone, it's not that good at catching solder because it's only copper. I use it along with some home-made flux (based on colophony violin rosin found here) and then it's far better.

Other: If you need it, this is it. Use solder flux to activate the full power of this solder wick.

    posted by Jule553648 on 12:25:24 G8T 08/08/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Great soldering wick. Very cheap and very useful for desoldering large components from a PCB board. Ti sucks solder very good. It's build quality is very good. Package is great, so it doesnt fly around the table.

Cons: You need to practice a little to use it properly. Then there is no solder point that cannot be removed!
    No other cons here.

Other: Good soldering wick for every solderer. You can't work without it.
