  • Very good

Pros: It has the same capabilities of the original one but this one is more affordable. Tested ethernet with no problem, it worked out of the box with the official Ethernet library Still have not tested the SD card reader The Ethernet and SD connectors seem of good quality.

Cons: The pins were a bit bended and I had to straigthen and align them before I could attach it to the arduino. But finally it worked fine.

Other: Just remember than the SD card reader and the Ethernet port can't be used at the very same time (but yes in the same project) And is very recomendable to disable the one you are not using at the time for avoiding interferences.

  • Works as original

Pros: This Ethernet shield is fully compatible with the Arduino Uno at a fraction of the price of the original shield. You don't support the Arduino guys with this one, but theirs is too expensive compared to this one. Works as advertised.

Cons: QC as to be expected good enough. Parts are not completely aligned, but with some fiddling and bending it makes a snug fit on the Arduino. Color is not the same as the original, but matches the arduino clone sold om some chinese sites.

Other: For experimenting and testing, this is the perfect Ethernet shield, supported out of the box by the Arduino IDE. Good quality, excellent price !

  • Out of the box

Pros: This is a good product for a good price! It just works out of the box. I have been working with it for few months and it still works really good. It was a great addition to my hobby project of an atmospheric data logger with MySQL server.

Cons: The quality could be a little better. In my Arduino Uno it fitted very well, but on my Arduino Mega 2560 it was a little hard to plug it in.

Other: Great product for hobby or professional use.

  • Good price and good product

Pros: Support for Arduino very well. I bought an Arduino Uno from DX and they worked well together. The pins fits nicely. Dont need to solder anything. Easy to find tutorials and documents for this chip. The price is good for a housemade project.

Cons: The pins were somewhat crooked. But nothing to worry because its easy to put on they right way again.

Other: A good product with good price, perfect for starters.

Pros: It worked perfectly. I had to search on the Internet how to use it, but I had no trouble finding several articles on its use.

Cons: At first I was using libraries a beta version of Arduino software. because of this, neither ethernet nor the memory card worked, I was enough to change the software in use (version 1.0.5) and everything started to work properly.

Other: Overall very good item, I recommend buying.

  • Best price for ethernet shield

posted by chrl on 09:08:21 G6T 24/06/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It's very cheap and affordable. Good quality of manufacture. Easy to install.

Cons: 1) There is no MAC - had to generate it manually 2) When connected to ethernet switch, if there is too much noise on the wires (i had 5 devices connected) - the shield starts working slow. Delays up to 60-80 seconds when responding usual http-query to inner webserver. 3) It takes 10-13 pins for it's own needs, so you won't use them for another needs.

Other: Best buy for this price - you won't regret that.

Pros: very good quality, easy to use also for beginners, good SW support on www.arduino.cc pages and nice tutorials with lots of examples

Cons: Nothing to report except some pins were slightly bent but were easily corrected.

Other: Having lan/wan connectivity on any arduino project really broadens the possibilities of any project. It is a must have for any arduino hobbist or projectist.

  • Best arduino shield ever!

posted by Alver on 20:46:33 G5T 09/05/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Plug and play; I was expecting some hassle to get it working but it turns out to be "almost" a no-brainer. Example sketches from arduino IDE compiled and executed perfectly. Even the TF slot worked well too.

Cons: None at all. I was expecting PoE but to be honest I don´t even have a switch supporting PoE, so it´s irrelevant.

Other: There are infinite possibilities when you connect arduino to the internet, if you have an interest in developing to this platform this shield is a must have.

  • Really handy and cheap

    posted by davet76 on 06:51:29 G4T 18/04/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Gives you access to output from Arduino to the net Cheap compared to others - have seen these fr over $20 Basically just duplicates the pins on the arduino when you mount it on to the top of the Arduinio board

Cons: You will need to be careful when pushing it on to get all the pins lined up exactly perfectly - this took a little bit of time to get right, since then I havent removed it though

Other: Great value, better than anywhere else I have seen
