  • Excellent pocket emulator

posted by mocozera on 17:15:30 G7T 24/07/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Best thing I've bought for playing old games. It runs a several kind of consoles, video, mp3, etc. Battery is very good, I can play more than 8 hours straight. I bought in 2010 and it stills in excellent conditions today (2013).

Cons: The power key could be better. My power key doesn't work anymore. But I use a little trick to suppress it. To on: press reset To off: configure your dingoo to go off after 5-10 idle minutes. It's a little expensive, but worth it.

Other: It's a little expensive, but it worth.

  • Good 8-bit emu fun, and Genesis/MD too!

posted by GeminiDomino on 10:12:19 G8T 21/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Impressive battery life. The built-in NES and Gameboy A emulators are quite good. I was even able to play through the old landmines like Crystalis and Castlevania III with only minor audio/video glitches. With Dingux installed, the Genesis emulator also works great. Nice bonus functionality like FM radio and ebook reader. It actually has a D-pad and buttons! None of this touchscreen, no-haptic-response nonsense. They're solid, responsive, sturdy.

Cons: The stock menu is hard to navigate, with games gathered under "3D Game" and "Interesting Game" headers, which seem to arbitrarily divide the emulators. Dingux improves on this a little bit, but introduces it's own navigation foibles. Uses the hard-to-find "Mini SD" flash memory instead of either of the more common "SD" or "Micro-SD", so that it's cheaper to get a MicroSD card and a Micro-to-Mini adapter. Dingux appears to be a dead project. The site hasn't been updated with new information in over a year. Neither the stock SNES emulator nor Snes9x in Dingux are very impressive, performance-wise.

Other: For classic gaming on the go, it's small, it lasts awhile, and it's got a nice form factor. Perhaps it's a little pricy for what it is, but I've gotten a lot of joy out of it nonetheless.

  • Good deal for the Retro-gamer!

posted by SvettBulle on 15:10:55 G8T 13/08/2012 certificated customer

Pros: *Has the size of a game-boy micro, and its easy to bring it anywhere you want. *Plays "most" of the emulators good. *The build Quality feels very nice for the price. *The RCA cable is a nice feature, maybe a bit short, however. *The battery-time is very good.

Cons: *Those "3D games" sux's, dont buy it cuz of them. *Crashes appears, but not very often. *Snes & Sega emulators are mostly unplayable, nes and gba works great! *RCA-cable is to short, i am sitting on the floor while using it. Its not conveniently.

Other: If you are a Retro-gamer. This is a GREAT DEAL.

Pros: Good construction. It surprise me, because it is a chinese product.
    Many emulators
You can change the OS to dingux, without uninstall the original firmware
    Battery life is very good.

Cons: Some native emulators are not so good(but you can use the ones in dingux).

Other: Very good product. It surprises me at all. This will bring to you many hours of fun and nostalgy.

  • GOOD but not GREAT

Pros: Can play videos and be a MP3 PLAYER, has high quality sound. Has good emulation potential if you manually upgrade. Playing a wide variety of game formats. Good built quality, small and compact and a superb battery life of 8 hours.

Cons: There are some here who say this is an excellent GBA emulator. I disagree, the contrast setting for the GBA emulatored games is way too high. It is so bright you cannot see fine detail in some games. Mario Advance is terrible, there is one tennis game that I cannot even see the ball because the contrast setting is too high, it is way too bright. This greatly impacts the enjoyment in some of the games and makes some games unplayable. I have adjusted the contrast setting for the machine to the lowest level but the problem still persists.
The D-pad is not precise enough to play fighting games well, CP2 emulation is not perfect as some have said, frame skip, distorted sound. NeoGeo game emulation is not perfect either, while very good some distorted sound as well. MUST upgrade system to get an acceptable performance in SEGA, SUPERNINTENDO and SOME CP2 GAMES. Must also edit CP2 and NEO GEO games into another FORMAT so machine can recognize them. Again not an easy task for a novice. By advice is get the ROM torrent for these games were the conversion is already done. NOW A NOVICE WOULD SAY: “ROM,... TORRENT???!! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT! If you are one of these people, don't buy the system. Upgrading the system is not be an easy task for someone who is not good technically. If you have trouble programing a VCR OR DVD RECORDER, forget it.

Other: A good buy, but only for a technically competent who knows how to upgrade to a better operating system. GBA emulator is flawed, TOO BRIGHT, cannot change settings to adjust this. For GBA games I recommend the designer clone sold here:

Pros: Good Product, the dingoo is great for rom emulation.
the battery is strong, up to 8 hours!
for playing music is also good, but the music must be good ripped.
The dingoo itself is very light but strong, i did buy it with the Protective Silicone Case for Dingoo A320 (SKU 23032/20217). SKU 39425

Cons: the Screen scratchs fast. its no gorilla glass more like the gameboy classic and color.

Other: I dont know if i will buy it again, the product is great but i have also now a good tablet and you can play most games on the tablet too.

Pros: This is really the ultimate handheld for classic games. You can play pretty much anything on it.

Cons: The only thing I didn't like is the d-pad. It's impossible to play street fighter with it.
I will try to solve this problem with this:

Other: Don't think twice, buy it!
The price is really low for such an excellent gadget!

    - The default emulators work really nice with 90% of the games
    - Play videos
    - Works very nice as a radio. The signal reception is very good
    - Loud sound
    - Works nice on TV
    - MicroSD input and 4GB internal memory

    Cons: - None, really!

Other: I have PSP 3000, but still use my Dingoo. The battery is very nice and in some situations I prefer the Dingoo.

  • Fantastic emulation device

Pros: Good build quality, have some very good emulators like the NES and CPS1 ones. Buttons works very well (they are a bit small for my big hands, but I had no problems playing games with it). The price is the better part. I know you can buy a PSP, unlock it and use as a portable emulator, but it will be WAY more expensive than this.

Cons: Native emulators are not all good, the SNES one is a bit slow and the Genesis one acts very weird. You NEED to install Dingux to increase it's usefulnes to an acceptable level, the process is easy enough but it's a shame you receive the device in a less than workable condition.

Other: Very good value for your money and lot's of fun for all classic console games lovers out there, never stay bored at a bank line again.

Pros: Awesome little gadget. Runs right out of the box. 7 days is a great game (almost like a Stephen King novel).
Got Dingux running in about half hour. There are great guides to do it right away!. Using Toddler's pack 0.35, got Hexen, Doom and Heretic working. Still fighting to run Duke32 and Quakux. Can play any snes, gb, gbc, gba rom using Snes9x and gnuboy.
Battery runs out in 7 hours and charges from my pc in half. Can be charged using any USB device charger like an Iphone charger.

Cons: The headphone plug is in the wrong place. It's unconfortable to use headphones while playing, especialy for people with big hands. Also, the miniSD format is hard to find this days. It could be great it if was SD or microSD. The default snes emulator sucks badly. I really sugest to install dingux as soon as you can to realy use this device

Other: It's awesome to play good oldies on such an compact device.
