Pros: Good and versatile charger for the money, obviously does the job, values seem pretty precise- sometimes 120min need to be exceeded for proper charging. pretty small. powerplug makes it easy to use 12V-5A Charger as a powersupply

Cons: User manual in poor English and too short, Charger not intuitive to figure out, is to hard to know how its works, it doesnt came with the adapter, so you can only use for car battery.

    Other: non

Pros: I managed to charge everything I saw around: starting from AA/AAA batteries (using RE magnets) and electric screwdrivers and up to multi-cell laptop battery (certainly, having removed its case cover and giving a personal charge to each 18650 cell. It will probably charge even a car battery (but not mine which is 110Ah for diesel engine and requires a curent equal to 10% of capacity). Shuts off automatically, allows to set a lot of charging parameters.

Cons: Certainly, the very first - is a lack of main power supply. But this charger is intended for outdoor use (I mean for charging batteries of remote controlled copters, planes and cars) from any available power supply with 12V DC. Second cons - is that no thermal sensor is included. And avan no balance plug - you have to DIY that. Third - a fan was already noisy and went to its end in a couple of months. Had to buy another one in local DIY parts shop.

Other: Take that if you know what's this device for. Or take a more advanced model if you are already a profy.

Cons: PLugs for balancing are non standard and proprietary for RC-Battery Packs. Had to improvise and build them from IC-DIL-sockets - works good now.

Other: great for the price, versatility could be gained to universal plugs for balancing....

Pros: Charges most types of batteries. Works OK if you understand what are you doing. Have external thermal sensor. Nice design. Ease to use (menu is OK, Buttons too). Has sound alarm

Cons: Transistor is not thermally connected to case (discharging with more than 2A at 4V (8W) can overheat the transistor and destroy it. Voltage readings differ about 10% from real values. Not included balancing cables. Not included mains adapter. End Voltages for Pb are too high and don't know how to change them. Poor documentation, mostly for pinouts.

Other: If you want cheap and good charger, then buy it. At least you have to add thermal paste betwwen transistor and case, for better reliability use a screw. For use at home you will need mains adapter, which is not included (out 12-18V, 1-5A depending on charging current you will use)

  • Really useful charger

Pros: - Universal charger (the last charger you will probably ever need) - Very useful if you have many types of batteries - Includes thermal sensor - Solid build quality - 50W of charging power - Time, capacity and temperature charging end points

Cons: - User manual in poor English and too short - Charger not intuitive to figure out (bad combo with con N1) - Overcharged my NiMH battery pack so you have to use time/capacity/temp limits

Other: If you need it - buy it. Just remember to buy DC power adaptor for it. I used one from an old IBM laptop - it works flawlessly.

Pros: Charges variable batteries. Shows voltage, controlls the circuit before charging.

Cons: At first it was a little difficult to understand how to operate with it, but after some time you'll understand how to set different charging programms. THE BIGGEST CON is that in PRODUCTION DESCRIPTION was mentioned AC to DC adaptor, but it is not included in the package !!!!! Regarding to the pics there is no adaptor at all. So i had to find myself the adaptor. Connections are not for all types of batteries. It can charge LiPo batteries but no adapter for this type of batteries included so I had to make new connections ...

Other: Be ready to find yourself an adaptor.

  • Would be nice if it came with plugs to make up bal

posted by DonaldM on 07:42:44 G3T 21/03/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Charges most things. I've even charged a car battery with it - albeit somewhat slowly. With a bit of ingenuity making up battery holders it can be persuaded to charge most things though a lower current option for small capacity cells would be nice.

Cons: Manual is confusing and a poor print job - the pictures are hard to make out. Nor does it do a very good job of explaining things. And it would help a lot if I didn't need a magnifying glass to read it at all.
Heat dissipation ought to be better.

Other: Non-working USB port is a pity. Would be nice if it was usable for logging stuff. Not a deal breaker though. Charges things just fine, replaced quite a lot of other chargers.

    Pros: Charge almost anything.
Build quality was better than I expected.

Cons: 5W maximum discharge means it can take very long to discharge a higher voltage pack.
Didn't detect the peak on a brand new NiMH pack I got for my Roomba resulting in overcharging the cells.

Other: Great charger for the price.

posted by Moritz on 03:17:08 G1T 05/01/2009 certificated customer

Pros: It works great, and brought back some batteries to live.
Charges much better than all the other Chargers I own.
    Supports all kind of Batteries.

Cons: Sometimes the auto mode does not stop the charging (perhaps defect battery), so it is important to use the timer and the temperature stop.

Other: As it is also written in the manual, don't let it charge when you are not at home. IT works great, but I don't trust such electrical stuff.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: -The price...can't beat it.
-Charges almost any type of battery.
    -small size.
-comes with lots of different cables.
-It does have data capabilities, if you have the technical ability to get it working.

Cons: -USB port is not a USB port. DO NOT PLUG IT INTO YOUR COMPUTER.
-overall accuracy of the this charger is not very good.
-Balancing not as accurate as it should be, but it is better than not balancing at all.
-lack of an insulator between the bottom of the circuit board and the case could lead to short circuits. The ends of the components are very close to the case.
-as mentioned before, there is a transistor that should be thermally bonded to the case and it is not.

Other: If you need a charger and can't afford a really good one, this one is a good buy.
