  • Compact built-in MP3 FM module

posted by bfridman on 03:36:51 G4T 20/04/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Remembers the settings while disconnecting the module from the power (except time), What lets to power up/down by disconnecting power supply. Can be put to Stand-By mode and awaken from it without remote control what lets in the future to turn on/off by remote control

Cons: Doesn't have the connection for RTC (Real Time Clock) back up battery (although it is mentioned in user manual) so the clock need to be readjusted after power disconnection. If the alarm was deactivated, it is reactivated again every time when the module is awaken from Stand-By mode. On the front panel the button "Vol+" is placed at the left side from the "Vol-" button; also the "Prev" button is placed at the right side from the "Next" button what causes to some confusions.

Other: The module can be put to and awaken from the Stand-By mode without remote control by long pressing on "Mode" button on the front panel. The clock and alarm can be adjusted in standby mode. "Mode" button in Stand-By mode turns on and off clock adjustment while "Play/Pause" button turns on/off alarm adjustment. The alarm can be activated and deactivated by long pressing on "Play/Pause" button in Stand-By mode, by while awaking it reactivates again. If the alarm is activated, at the time set in the alarm the module will be turned on. The power voltage shouldn't exceed 4.2 volts otherwise the module in the Aux/SD/USB module will noise and won't accept the commands from remote control.

Pros: Small, useful and handy thing to build your own multi-media box. All I need is FM-radio and mp3 player. I got it all in this device. Nice remote control is a pleasant addition. Also I can connect my PC to Line-In and use this device as an amplifier.

Cons: FM-radio has a lack of bass. (mp3-player and line-in has good enough sound quality) Built-in connectors are not useful, so I had removed them and soldered the wires directly to the board. Buttons are too tight. I'd prefer more soft buttons. Clock is reset if the device is powered off. So I have to create some kind of battery backup to keep the clock working continuously. And one small wishes: a bigger display. My mother has to come close to see the time :(

Other: This device has the functionality exact I was looking for! So I want to say Big Thanks to the engineers who developed and created this device! And thanks to DX for giving me the opportunity to become an owner of it!

Pros: Has almost everything you need to play decent music on some speakers.
I have put this inside some cheap old radio, and now I have a full MP3 player with FM radio for ten bucks !
The front is a sticker, so you can work without it, and when having all in place, screws included, you put the front. It looks as it was always there, like a professional contruction!

Cons: Had to remove the included amplifiers, because even not using them they started to smoke!!
Maybe I connected something wrong, but after removing them, everything was ok, and the line output still produced nice and cripsy sound!

Other: Perfect for a car (maybe sku.90371 that's smaller) or a jeep or a boat.
    I think it's even perfect for a bike !!
This one has a screen (show track number, function, clock, and alarm that I never figured out how it works!), FM radio and AUX IN.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Surprisingly good sound quality! Reads USB stick and SD card fast enough. FM radio is very sensitive, even with a short piece of wire as antenna. Really easy to make a home/portable audio player, after finding out the purpose of the connectors, you just have to find a suitable container, connect a random +5V supply and a pair of speakers.

Cons: Manual only in chinese, i had to find out many functions myself. You can only play/skip mp3's one by one, cannot jump directories (Or I just didn't find it out). You can't store FM frequencies manually, only with auto search (Or can it? Please tell me how...) And auto search seems to find only stereo stations, it omits the mono FM stations, regardless of their signal strength

Other: It's a very practical gadget, you can upgrade your old cassette car radio, build an alarm clock or a cheap micro-"hifi" on your own, etc... Too bad you don't get a proper english manual for it, because i have a feeling that many useful functions remain hidden even if you try pressing buttons randomly.

  • Great value for money, some techspecs inside!

posted by jeroenbreg on 04:54:24 G6T 10/06/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small but useful device, plays FM-radio and MP3's nicely and at good quality. Supports FAT16 & 32, so should work with 8GB or up too (4GB confirmed). Works at 5V (I made it USB powered). Remote control is a nice addition.

Cons: No ID3/file name display (files display as numbers). No shuffle play (despite what specs imply, see "Other thoughts"). Manual is fully in Chinese (but specs posted below are helpful!). No cables or plugs included (you get *exactly* what the pictures say).

Other: Great value for money, does what it says. Good sound quality and basic functionality. Easy to connect if you know what you're doing.
