  • Definitely a good buy for a G2

    posted by antoinea101 on 18:12:50 G2T 13/02/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very bright - Really cheap compared to the surefire alternative - Fits without any play in my G2

Cons: - The outer spring made it impossible to fit in my G2, but it was fixed in 2 seconds and without any tools. - Maybe it is too bright for some applications (reading, ...)

Other: If you own a G2 and your P60 is dead, definitely buy this instead.

  • Good bulb for cordless work lights

posted by avenuej on 13:28:09 G1T 13/01/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Can be used with voltages up to 18V so its a good option for Cordless work lights. Fit my Porter Cable work light with only minor modifications. After the mod it almost looks like it was made that way. Much much brighter than the original bulb. DX replaced the bad one.

Cons: 1st one was DOA. I knocked off 1-star on quality since the first one was bad. Otherwise I'd give it 5 stars.

Other: Probably going to order another one.

  • Saves me lots of $$$

posted by DellSuperman on 03:14:33 G2T 11/02/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Cheap & potentially saving me alot more from buying the original ones.
    - The battery is able to last longer than with the original bulb.
    - Able to use 3.7v CR123a batteries.
    - Good light throw.

Cons: - Bulb won't work with the spring.

Other: If you have a old 6P filament bulb surefire & its busted, this is your life saver... I almost threw away the body of my G2 & i suddenly stumbled upon this.
Thank goodness I didn't throw it away.
I actually bought 1 more as spare & also quite tempted to look for 2nd hand old bodies to modify.

Pros: Works like a champ! Strong and firm light! I used it to my UK4 underwater flashlight and the light as well as the spread circle around the main beam are amazing. At pitch dark its like a Jedi sword!

Cons: None that i can think of so far!

Other: At that price just buy it and also buy one for spare!

  • Used with a gun light

posted by AndMok on 02:27:20 G7T 27/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Much better than the original bulb of sku 00976 Super Fire 14V Wf501D CR123A With Gun Mount Easy, just what i needed for gun light has only one mode Works fine with one or two 18650 batteries Did not broke after firing on AKA SAIGA 12 kal It is one of the best ways to see the quality with my flashlight above it has perfect focus for hunting, (12 kal) no need to aim at all at night, just light the animal and pull the trigger

    Cons: still not found any

Other: Sertanly i will buy something brighter but i believe that it will not be as economical as this sku perfect for gun light (real not a paintball then hunting)

  • Great drop-in

    posted by pinetree89 on 20:36:48 G4T 11/04/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: An excellent well made drop-in. Despite it being superseded by the XP-G, XM-L and other emitters, let's face it, the small die size of the XR-E emitter makes for great throw in a light. My unit arrived and was packaged very well. The emitter appeared to be centered very well in the reflector. It's also very economical.

Cons: The XR-E has the metal ring around the outside of the emitter. This makes for the infamous "Cree Ring", a darkening around the hotspot, although I've found that unless you're staring at a white wall you really don't notice it.

Other: Older technology, but works great, and a great price too. Simple with just on mode.

  • Good thing!

    posted by Lego74 on 08:56:54 G2T 24/02/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Postal packaging was good, the damage to the module is not received. The light is very bright, surprisingly good given the low power consumption. White light, no blue or yellow. When powered from 4.5V corps almost never hot.

Cons: When connected to a power source, it was found that the electronic unit is not working ... LED had to be connected directly to 3x1.5V AA batteries. Still works fine, more than six months.

Other: An excellent choice for someone who already has a ready-made body under this type of Cree R2 LED Module to replace the old module, or for those who would remake the building itself for this module. Response (intensity) / (input power) is very good! Set of 3 1.5V AA was enough for me for a whole summer!

  • Bright, tight spot, good range of voltage input

posted by stevenlparry on 19:28:51 G11T 27/11/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Bright, Cheap, and accepts a wide range of voltage input, so can be used in a variety of applications. Produces a fairly tight spot with a large halo of usable light. Only on and off without annoying modes. 2/3 the price of an XPG R5. Doesn't generate too much heat although the pill does get warm.

Cons: Not as bright or efficient as an XPG R5. There are quite a few rings and artifacts in the beam pattern with the included reflector, with a dark ring around the central spot, but none of this is really noticeable except when you are shining it onto a plain painted wall.

Other: Bargain for the money. I might get more for other applications. I think they could make good 12v interior lighting without the reflectors, although the colour temperature is very cool and blue.

  • great replacement for surefire!

posted by Culverjoe on 23:19:26 G10T 01/10/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: *nice tight spot
    *accepts 3-18V, ANY battery configuration!
    *never burns out
    * twice the battery life, and four times the light output of surefire P60
    *ONE MODE!
    *1/3 cheaper than R5

Cons: *must remove the outer spring to fit into a surefire (HUGE con, I know)
*not quite as bright as an R5, but MUCH cheaper

Other: MUST have upgrade for a surefire, unless you upgrade to an R5 or P7 or MC-E.

  • I love this product!

posted by gcbryan on 06:35:49 G5T 13/05/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I love this drop-in! It's the highest more efficient version (R2) of this led (XR-E), it's being sold for a good price, and it's in the right size (P60) not to mention it's a single mode version so no strobes to deal with. What's not to like!

Cons: There are no cons for this product as far as I'm concerned.

Other: For throw there is nothing better than a XR-E R2.
