  • Very Good Module

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Rather cheap for a Q5, it works well and gives very good light. Good replacement for a P60 host. Accepts voltage from 3,7 to 18V. Very good build quality. Massive reflector, current driver is well designed. Beam temperature is as written, cold, I think it's about 6000K? Very useful for my bike, I'll work on mounting during winter. Photos'll be available on spring.

Cons: The one i got was blinking when I first turned it on, in a 1 sec on/off cycle. I left it on, and within one minute it suddenly started to give a constant light as it was supposed to. It has worked well since.

Other: I can only praise this product.

  • Led q5 da 200 lumen luce bianca ,ordine di 4 bulbi regolari e funzionanti

posted by Polstato on 02:07:01 G2T 23/02/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Very good build quality. Massive reflector, current driver is well designed. Beam temperature is as written, cold, I think it's about 6000K? Very useful for my bike, I'll work on mounting during winter. Photos'll be available on spring :D

Cons: Undefined poles on bottom side. Outter circle is the minus pole (-) and inner (smaller spring) is the plus pole (+). Beware, it's heating up quickly (on full brightness). You'll need heatsink at full current rating.

Other: I can only praise this product.
    Thanks, dealextreme!

  • Excellent Replacement, No Stupid Modes

posted by zerodgz on 07:51:46 G4T 01/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is a mostly direct drop-in replacement for P60 type flashlight lamps. It fits much of the Surefire line including my Surefire G2 and also my Streamlight M3 pistol light. In both cases I had to remove the gold colored spring for proper fitment but the spring is only friction fit and slides right off. This lamp is brighter than all Sin, noticeably brighter even than the P60 type filament bulb that came with my G2. (The P61 type bulb may be brighter, but I don't have one on hand to test.) Battery life is increased noticeably compared to the stock filament bulb and because of its LED roots this lamp is as shock, impact, and vibrationproof as they come. As an added benefit, this replacement costs about a tenth of what Surefire want for their LED upgrade, which offers no better performance. The built in voltage regulation ensures that you will get the most out of your batteries, and enables this lamp to go in just about anything that takes P60 bulbs regardless of number of batteries. Since it can take up to 18v, you can fit it in 4, 5, and 6 cell flashlights as well if you feel like being ridiculous. I tested it with a car battery and some aligator clips; I imagine with such a setup you could run the light for about a month straight on a single charge...

Cons: Removal of the outer spring is necessary to fit this lamp in any flashlight I've tried. Why is the outer spring there? I don't know.

Other: A cheap, effective, bright, simple, and reliable LED upgrade for P60 based flashlights where you're tired of replacing expensive bulbs.

  • Excellent product with one important catch

posted by JunkMeister on 22:23:19 G10T 04/10/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very bright with a colour temperature about the same as sunlight. No blue, just clean white light. Easy to use and easily adapted to 3 D cell Mag lights.

Cons: CATCH: This is not an 18 volt product. It runs just fine on as low as 3.4 volts to about 6 volts. Go much higher than that and it will fry unless it has a massive heat sink. The regulator must be linear because all excess power shows up as heat. Don't even think of trying to run this on automobile voltages.

Other: Good buy in a power led and easy to implement in a project.

Pros: easy drop in I cut the spring down and it fits my g2 great. build quality is good and if I get board with it I can always convert it to a different led.

Cons: over heats after 15 to 20 minuets. I guess that's why S##@fire converted to aluminum heads on there g2LEDs On the flip I found that 18650s don't heat up the LED as much "go figure"

Other: I like the output and if I can get the heat under control I will love it.

  • An economical improvement to the Surefire 6x line

posted by zhangrongbin on 15:10:01 G5T 26/05/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Extremely bright LED light. Much less fragile than the incandescent bulb. The entire assembly drops right in (after removing the outer spring, which pulls right off) and directly replaces the P60 bulb assembly in my Surefire 6p and 6z lights. Light remains usable over the entire life of the batteries. I replaced the bulb in a Surefire 6z with old batteries that would give inconsistent flickering light with the old incandescent bulb, but steady and bright white light with the new LED bulb. Gets the most out of the batteries!

Cons: Pretty hard to find something to complain about. Surefire wants $40 for an LED upgrade bulb, and I doubt it could be worth it when you can buy 4 upgrade bulbs from DX for the same price.

Other: Buy one for every Surefire you own that uses the P60 bulb! You have no reason not to.

  • Very Bright Unit

    posted by Paul30 on 08:32:52 G12T 29/12/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: Wide voltage range.
    Straight replacement for standard drop-in-unit.
Very bright will low power consumption.
    Long life bulb!
Works with CR123A 3.7v Rechargable batteries!

    Cons: None!

Other: My $20 flashlight now performs like one that would cost several times this price, all due to this relatively inexpensive ($12) unit.
I am tempted to mod all of them now ;)

Pros: Bright. Well-built for the price. An unbelievably improvement over the Xenon bulb that used to power my Cabelas XPG.

Cons: None that come to mind.

Other: After two months of practical use, my hat's off to DX. Great product! Note: Readers may also be interested in the R2 single-mode SKU#11836.
