Pros: - Compass is surprisingly responsive for being a button compass - Thermometer appears to be only 3 degrees F off - Has a rotating degree plate to set direction of travel - Looks much more expensive than it is

Cons: - Thermometer takes some time to adjust, like other cheapish thermometers. - Compass needs to be balanced to show the direction which is not useful for navigation. - Build quality is cheap.

Other: it does the well Overall, it has many nice functions that can be useful for kids as their next toy.

Pros: I bought this because my current thermometer is a bit small and it is difficult to read. The thermometer is easier to read. You got to hold the device level for the compass to work.

Cons: The rotating bezel around the compass is stuck, so I can't use it for navigation. Don't plan to anyway This device may be too big to hang from a jacket zipper.

Other: It is cheap enough that you can risk it.

Pros: - Compass is surprisingly responsive for being a button compass
    - Thermometer appears to be only 3 degrees F off
    - Has a rotating degree plate to set direction of travel
    - Looks much more expensive than it is

Cons: - Rotating plate is a "click" lock but for 90 degrees of its range, it spins freely making it likely not to stay put.

Other: Buy this and throw it on your pack.

  • Works, not very accurate

posted by jzmtl on 02:56:16 G6T 17/06/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very cheap, same thing from well known Finnish brand cost 6 times as much, and it works alright too. The compass is actually pretty accurate, I compared it with my $70 pro grade compass and it's pretty much dead on.

Cons: The thermometer display lower than actual temperature, about 5 degrees lower in fact. Not that serious but it seems this is easy to correct at manufacturer, just glue the bulb a bit higher.

Other: Why not, throw it on your pack's zipper pull, and you'll have direction and temperature when you need them.

  • Useful keychain

posted by cowsmoo on 17:34:26 G1T 23/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -Useful compass with scale -Easy to use -Wind chill factor table on the back -Decent quality build (nice feel on plastic) -Small handheld thermometer can be useful when you don't know the temperature -Medium sized keychain -Cheap -Cute as a gift

Cons: -Falls apart after a while -The thermometer and wind chill paper fell out of the plastic casing and the liquid in the thermometer may be dangerous if broken -Thermometer doesn't work very well and isn't accurate much of the time(always seemed to stay at 70 degrees -Doesn't react quickly to changes in temperature -Compass has a hard time finding north (mine switch directions a lot if I shook it) -Easy to get cracks or scratches

Other: Good, cheap keychain. Kids will be amused by it.

  • Novelty keychain

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Reasonably compact and light keychain with interesting features
    - Neat little bezel on the outside of compass
    - Have had it for more than five months and there are no bubbles in the compass liquid so far
    - Wind chill chart could come in handy someday ;)

Cons: - Uncertain about the accuracy of the thermometer
    - Thermometer isn't the easiest to read.
    - Build quality average; rough plastic edges on mine but the keychain attachment is of good quality.
    - Compass a bit slow and has to be perfectly flat

Other: Not a serious navigation/temperature device but better than nothing. At $1.75 you really have nothing to lose by buying it.

  • It Feels (And Is) Cheap

posted by coffeejunky on 07:55:51 G4T 21/04/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -Its good value. -Its a nice idea to combine a compass with a thermometer. -The keyring feels quite strong for a cheap product -There is an adjustable dial around the compass for setting a bearing.

Cons: -I really would not want to depend on either the compass or the thermometer. The compass is unrealiable and has difficulty finding magnetic north. The thermometer is fairly accurate (give or take five degrees) - Consider it just as a novelty product.
-The compass part arrived with a hairline crack in it, wasn't worth a support ticket.
-The construction is cheap and basic. The compass is supeglued on and the thermometer is held in place by a piece of card at the back of the keyring.

Other: At this price its worth it for its novely value, but don't expect it to be very useful.

Pros: I bought this for my nephew, who is 8 years old. He uses it to do experiments from a science book I gave him. The best part of buying this item is it is a three for one deal. Many of the experiments in his book requires a compass and a thermometer, so this worked well for my pocketbook. The key chain is a plus because he can take it with him and not lose it. He loves it.

    Cons: None

Other: This is my first purchase and I am looking forward to purchasing more items from this company. Thanks-a-million DealExtreme.

Pros: A nice quality compass and thermometer. It could be used for traveling trips and such. On the back, there is a wind chill factor chart, with shows the temperature felt on your skin.

Cons: The keychain is quite big and doesn't fit well with other keychains/keys.

The compass is a bit twitchy and gets stuck sometimes. You might have to tap it a few times to get the correct direction.

Other: A nice, efficient, cheap keychain. Buy it!
