  • Cheap Bellows

posted by Saeeka on 16:23:19 G7T 19/07/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -Easy and smooth to adjust
    -mostly metal construction
    -cloth bellows
    -the price

Cons: -inside cloth is cracked, can see metal mesh in behind
    -Plastic tripod mount/feet
-lens tips forward ever so slightly
-Could use EF-S (white square) orientation mark

Other: Its a good bellows for the price. Solid construction. For the price a few flaws are to be expected.

  • Good photo gadget!

Pros: Very good price. Build quality beyond expectations. Versatility is really impressive. It replaces all macro rings I have. All the mechanisms seem to operate without incident, and smoothly.

Cons: Too complicated to operate. It requires advanced knowledge of general photography. For those accustomed to automatic controls, it will be a headache. For me, I'm used to traditional photography, and it was a fantastic challenge but I do not advise anyone less experienced to buying it.

Other: It's cheap so there's not to much to lose. If you real love photography, you must have one of this.

  • Well worth the money

Pros: High quality product, metal mounts. Can either be placed on the table, or attached to a tripod. Everything runs smoothly.

Cons: As the description says: there are no electrical contacts. That means that you cannot use autofocus, image stabilisation or electronic aperture control. However, it is possible to set the aperture value of the attached lens to a specific value before removing it from your camera (use the small button on the side of the lens and hold it while removing the lens).

    Other: Well worth the money

  • Well made for a great price

posted by Quarn on 01:44:40 G8T 03/08/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Well made with metal lens and camera mount, locking pin. Geared rail for extension adjustment and scale on the other rail. Tripod mount underneath. Bellows material is cloth based not cheap plastic.

Cons: No electrical contacts so you will have to set your f-stop with the lens on the camera, hold your DOF preview button to close down the app and remove the lens so it keeps it closed down. Can be hard to focus then due to low light levels.

Other: It is $40 so it is cheap as chips if you want to play with macro photography. Use a flash with a TTL cord close to the item for great light. Far better build quality then I expected for the price. Well worth buying to experiment with.

  • Good for a Canon

posted by zemike on 02:32:08 G5T 27/05/2008 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Looks like I was the first to get those bellows. Well, I intended to use them for my Nikon D200 and the photos show a Nikon mount.
In the package I have received bellows with a different mount. First I thought it was Pentax, but later I found out it was a Canon.
Those bellows fit modern Canon EOS cameras. The build quality is excellent, all movements are smooth, the mounts (front and rear) are flawless.

Cons: No specification on DealExtreme, so it was a lottery.
Those bellows don't allow to control aperture, so be ready to shoot at only open wide apertures. Or buy a lens with manual aperture control (I don't know if such lenses exist for Canon)

Other: I was disappointed because I was looking forward using it on my Nikon.
Anyway, I sold those bellows to a Canonian.
