Pros: I was looking for ? new host for my blue laser and chose this one. Nice small size for 18650 lithium cell. Fully dismountable. When got it - realized that this is exactly what I needed. Laser head was inserted through the aluminum sleeve for better heat dissipation.

Cons: Can be a little bit cheaper.

Other: Nice popular host for lasers and custom flashlights. Recomended to bay.

  • Best flashlight for DIY projects

Pros: - You can find parts to build on this flashlight everywhere, it's one of the most common. - Its also easy to find build tutorials for this piece. - You can switch tailcaps color easilly and your flashlights will be different. Buy them here at DX also. - It comes with the driver pill, just put a 17mm round driver on it and you are ready to go. - Can be used to build lasers, buy a driver here from DX and a heatsink for an aixiz module from various sites on the internet and you are done. - If you use a 17mm buck driver just add two 16340 (cr123) Lithium batteries here from DX (7,4v), they will fit perfectly in. You can also use other driver (AMC based) and use one 18650 (4,2v).

Cons: - Is a little bit small, not much heatsinking. - The o-rings usually dont survive many screwing and unscrewing of the parts (buy some more here at DX) - Maybe it could be cheaper

Other: You can get all of the equipment to build on this c6 from here: - driver boards (17mm) - lithium batteries - tail caps - LEDs - o'rings

Pros: I've built a few lights with these now and am using one for a laser. These are great versatile hosts..you can put all kinds of drivers and emitters in them, and a lot of people even make heatsinks and laser drivers to fit these making them easy for anything! Not the greatest host for heat dissipation on lasers, but still a very nice cheap host.

Cons: None that I can think of! Great host.

Other: I'm not sure what else to write. I just need 500 words! I'm not sure what else to write. I just need 500 words! I'm not sure what else to write. I just need 500 words! • Great little flashlight

posted by LASERgenGibelli on 08:46:21 G12T 05/12/2012 certificated customer

Pros: It's a great and beautiful flashlight, great for your DIY projects since you don't have to waste money buying the led and driver board that you won't use on your project. I used it to build a 1,2W 445nm blue laser pointer and it works great. It has a great quality, all in aluminium. Any 17mm driver board will fit its pill.

Cons: It's a little bit too small and makes poor heatsinking.

Other: One of the cheapest flashlights available, don't forget to try it out!

Pros: These are very nice! I actually purchased an Aurora c6 light before i ever ordered these, and these showed up with the same body. The pictures show an all black host, but the two that i received both said Aurora on one side and Cree on the other. Check out the Aurora c6 18650 light to see what it will look like. Other than that, these are great quality! Not a scratch or blemish on any of them. They are threaded nice and even nicer than the aurora c6 light that I had previously purchased.

Cons: The lights say aurora on it, which could be a con if you wanted a blank host, but i think it looks good and am happy with it!

Other: buy these! They are a great deal and very nice hosts. I bought mine to turn into a laser torch, but I also have a c6 host flashlight. I love these things! and they are much smaller than the picture looks. Definitely a great little compact 18650 host!

  • great host for laser

Pros: good metal host for flashlights and DIY lasers :) i specifically bought it for my red laser diode I made my own custom heat sink that fits perfectly in this host easy to disassemble and assemble it takes 1*18650 or 2*CR123A or similiar batteries the tailcap is good and sturdy it can take much abuse

Cons: the included heatsink is pretty thin for a good heat dissipation so this one is a goner ... build your own and you won't miss ;) no other cons :)

Other: cheap and valuable item for all of us DIY guys and girls :):D

  • Awsome DIY host

Pros: Awsome anodizing finish, inner construction easy to understand and (re)modify to suit your needs, usage of driver pill makes great new options for laser building, very solid contacts, tilcap clicky switch can take a lot of abuse, easily changeable caps.

Cons: None I can think of.

Other: I've installed P7 emitter into one, that draws 2.3 A, and clicky switch still hasn't melted. A lot of my laser builds also are in this host which is awsome for that kind of usage.
    Great host, great price, awsome.

  • great flashlight (style) host for DIY

posted by lightquantum on 12:15:54 G6T 01/06/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -good build quality -feels solid, heavy and expensive in the hand -glass lens -not one cheap plastic part -metal reflector

Cons: -hard to solder a case connection to the pill with regular soldering iron, needs a few tricks to do that -cr123a batteries (DX) shake a bit, but contact / conductivity to spring I hotglued in place is good.

Other: for $10,90 , you get an expensive looking and feeling host for nice diy projects.

Pros: Good casing for 2 cr123 / one 18650 projects. Compact, Stands on tail, optics can be totally removed. Good quality.

Cons: Very cree XRE orientated. One had a tail joint which got extended from factory screwing of the cap. Grease and careful remount while holding it in place made it shrink back to functional.

Other: To DIY or not to DIY ?

Pros: I realy like the size of this housing, also the shape is nice, fits great in to anyones hand. The threads are well tapped and the seals are ok. Clicky seems to work as it is suposed to and is sealled nicely. Reflector provides an excelent throw and a nice dot.

Cons: Installing the driver pill isn't great. It takes a small, fragile, ring that has to be pushed in to the fitting. If the size of the driver is a bit different as the design was made for you'll have a hard time to load it.

Other: if you need a smal host and have a lathe or just the right innerparts this one is awsome...
