  • Best Product for the Price

    posted by lloydxxx007 on 10:24:21 G12T 03/12/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Supports upto 7.1 speaker configuration Virtual Speaker Placing with virtual 7.1 Very lightweight and portable Windows 7 64 Bit support and drivers auto detected Strong metal casing which is not not available in any other card

Cons: A little distortion at very low noise Not actual surround for 4.1 speakers Installation using the Driver CD provided is a bit tricky as the actual drivers are not present

Other: The best product for the offered price, a highly recommended product!!!

  • Just works and has independent channels

    posted by dsonck92 on 07:57:29 G11T 13/11/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It just works with linux. Has independent output channels so you can use it with jack to output different audio streams on different outputs.

Cons: Although it would be 7.1 as advertised, it can be clearly seen that it's just a 5.1 audio card. The chip however does support 7.1 audio and linux sees it as such but the two extra outputs are not available.

Other: Whether you want an external audiocard that supports 5.1 audio for a media center or you want an audiocard that supports 6 independent channels, this card is definitively the card to buy.

  • Inexpensive way to add 5.1 output to a laptop

posted by Grijan on 08:52:35 G5T 23/05/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Really good price. Actual 5.1 output (not 7.1 as stated). Virtual 7.1, probably by mixdown to 5.1 (not tested). Reasonable build quality. Easy to disassemble if you need just the board to place it inside other equipment. Both Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 64-bit SP1 recognized it without installing drivers, and set up it as a 5.1 device.

Cons: It is not real 7.1, but 5.1 (it can be tell from the pictures: it only has three output jacks, where 7.1 needs four jacks, the fourth usually gray colored).

Other: Cheap, easy to install, easy to use, simple but durable construction. Really good.

  • A good external sound card and works very well.

posted by MaxFox on 11:30:50 G4T 21/04/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This sound card works fine, I was surprised with how it works very good. Works fine in Ubuntu and Windows 7 systems. The well plate is constructed and safe use. My TV could not send the sound to my 5.1 Home Theater but with this card I can send 5.1 sound from my computer to my home theater while assito my movies on TV.

Cons: Until today I never had any problem with this video card external. Already possou her more than three years.

Other: I recommend this product to everyone and friends

  • Better than I expected...

    posted by rafig93 on 04:07:02 G3T 23/03/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: *Smaller than it seems, i was very surprise by it...it fits on one half of my hand. *fairly easy to use, I use windows 8 and its plug n' play. it is recognizes as an external USB sound card. *The metal housing around it is in good build quality.

Cons: *It could be cheaper. *the other plastic part are not that good of building quality. *it too me some wiggling in both the USB end and the 3.5'' end to get it to work.

Other: if you want a good external sound card you shuld buy it, I know I would buy it again, it's a great product.

  • Minor audio quality issues, but good buy!

posted by jstroy on 18:02:46 G3T 10/03/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: From two channels to 7.1 channel configurations, this CMI106-based audio adapter offers good sound quality over USB 2.0. If you use all the analog audio input features, you can access up to six output channels, one microphone input, and two line-in channels (5.1 surround sound output configuration). There are two digital SPDIF ports, one for input and one for output. There is no whistling/buzzing noise on this product, unlike SKU #9723. The product was engineered with good electrical isolation. This device offers loop-back recording of audio, something which SKU #9723 did not.

Cons: The mini-USB port on the device suffers from poor build quality. The included USB cable fits loosely on the USB port, so any perturbations of the cable can easily disconnect the audio device. Additionally, on a system with high levels of high-latency interrupts (such as with high disk activity), this device may produce clicking/popping noises. If there are any on-board buffers, they aren't large enough.

Other: This CMI106 USB audio device is great!

  • Does what's supposed to do, including spdif passthrough

posted by iltavilli on 04:08:40 G12T 25/12/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Does what's supposed to do. Can do DD and DTS spdif passthrough at least with the latest drivers. Works fine with Windows 7 and Windows 8. Package includes driver CD and Usb Cable Good build quality.

Cons: Finding newer drivers from the internet was a bit difficult. The CD with the product doesn't contain the latest drivers.

Other: Good product for the price, even thought there might be other CM106 based products available even cheaper.

  • Just what I was looking for

posted by Hermanator on 08:56:04 G1T 04/01/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: *Ships fast
*Easy to use software included (I'll upload a screenshot)
*Does the job perfectly, after installed, just plug and play for connecting different speakers to arrange your own surround sound
*Good quality on the usb cable

Cons: *A little short usb cable, but it was more than enough for me
*For some reason, it do not work with different usb cables than the one following (?)
*Not 7.1 surround sound through the 3.5mm output, but it doesn't matter really xD

Other: Recomended for everyone, mostly for laptop users like me! The sound quality is superb, no lag or delays. It just works every day! I've bought two of these, and I'm very satisfied with them. A little expencive but very useful

Cons: I not fond any cons

Other: Good device and sound quality. I recommend use it for good sound quality.

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Easy to install drivers
    - Lots of features included in the drivers' software
    - Perfectly working
    - Really good sound quality (I`ve tested it through the optical output only)
    - The cheapest one 5.1 with optical out and USB interface

Cons: - The connectors are moving a little bit, but not a big deal (They`re moving with the whole board so it`s okay)

Other: I`m really happy with this one.
I`ve recently bought a new notebook, and the integrated sound card was horrible... This one is really much better!
