  • If you want to have liquid fuel stove - buy this one

posted by zazinet on 01:07:41 G1T 06/01/2014 certificated customer

Pros: Build quality - good enough. Just a couple of misperfections at stove body came from molding issues. But, anyway, everything works OK. It is very lightweight. Even lighter than my gas stove (Covea made). I did not try it with diesel, but with gasoline it works perfect - gets hot and starts working quickly; the flame is blue and sounds like a roket. I also appreciate that it comes with 1/2 litter fuel bottle. As I use it for motorcycle traveling no need for me to have big 1 litter bottle, small one is much better for me.

Cons: 1) Connection assembly between the pump and fuel stop-** is rather complecated and made of plastic. As I mentioned above, everything works right, but I guess when problems come, they will come from this place. 2) Junction between fuel supply tube and stove tube. It has rather inconvenient angle which doesn't allow you stay tubes connected and you have to disconnect them each time when want compact your stove to your luggage. I guess this does't increase the margin of safety as well.

Other: If your life does not depend on your stove - you travel with friends which have back-up stove or you can find some wood for fire - buy this item and enjoy it.

Pros: Good price and good quality.Work as well as one that costs three times as much.I try to use biodiesel and it seems that seals withstand. For me it worked every time even in adverse weather conditions.Very useful stove

Cons: Nice but a bit noisy.Preheat pipe limit your ability to use different silent caps. For the same reason it is quite inconvenient to remove parts for cleaning.I tried to bend the pipe steel but it's hard may break the weld.It would be ideal if you could find on DX various silent burner caps

    Other: Nice stove

  • 2 weeks in Africa

Pros: decent quality metal construction of stove, small, takes little space, has extra parts and tools for maintenance included. It's a bit hard to say anything objective since this was my first portable stove, but i could cook, boil my water for two weeks with mostly* no problems. I used these 46241 pots together with this stove (the only good thing i can say about them - they are light).

Cons: that metal wire which was meant for cleaning the heating pipe. It jammed and i couldn't take it out so the fuel could't get through. The bag was too small and it was pain in the ass to fit all the stuff inside it. There also was a leakage of gasoline where metal tube connects to stove.

Other: The issue with wire jamming inside the pipe could be might fault, since i might have pushed the tip of the wire inside the pipe by accident. But still it shouldnt be so easy to jam the thing. It wasn't smart of me to take this thing to such a trip without getting to know it better first. This was a good lesson. Next year i'm coming back to continue, but i will take something that could last 5 months usage without such problems.

  • Cheap sturdy stove

    posted by renejose2012 on 03:42:19 G12T 09/12/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very cheap and strongly built. Able to burn unleaded gas, kerosene, butane, and diesel. I use it to boil 10 liters of water and cook rice(with much fiddling and adjustments) almost everyday for a month. I've already dismantled the stove and cleaned the gas generator tube after several weeks of using unleaded gasoline and i found it easy to maintain. The stove burns hot specially with 50/50 gasoline kerosene mix using the #35 jet/nipple. I would suggest using denatured alcohol in priming the stove to minimze soot. A longer time for priming kerosene is recommended. A huge fireball may occur if you shorten the priming time for kerosene so be careful.

Cons: After using the stove for 3 weeks the pump began to leak between the aluminum pump housing and the threaded plastic plug but i was able to repair it by using epoxy on the inner side of the plug. The stove arrived with the burner bell slightly off center. I was able to cure it by removing the bell and gas generator tube/loop assembly and heatin it with a torch and nudging it straight and centered. Off center or not the stove did work fine though.

Other: Cheap, effective, rugged, and useful. Buy one and you will not regret it. A spare flame spreader should also be included in the supplied repair kit.

  • Extremely good value for money

posted by kipsus on 05:02:48 G10T 08/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Rugged, well thought out structure. Includes a nice pouch, a multi-tool and some spare parts. Easy to use, very stable in operation.

Cons: The multi-tool is not very good, does not fit the nuts very well. I would suggest getting a cheap, small wrench for the critical and often used joints. Joints need to be tightened very well - got numerous leaks (and therefore unexpected bursts of flame) due to not tightening hard enough. Depressurizing is messy due to absence of a dedicated valve.

Other: All in all I consider this to be a great value for money as the drawbacks are not that severe and hey, the more expensive western stoves also have quirks, it's not like you automatically get a trouble free stove for 150$.

  • Cool for this price

    posted by g0dless on 03:54:02 G8T 21/08/2012 certificated customer

Pros: All are good. I use it with gas only. without liquid fuel bottle its have a minimal weight. I think it is the best choice for long traveling. One of the reasons to buy this model - the hose. The stove are fixed on the ground. Also you can heat up the bottle to increase the gas evaporation.

Cons: At the end of the hose near ballon the fixing is not good. But it is not fatal - it is for insurance only.

Other: Angain, this is the best choice for travel for this price. I did not find better.

  • great value stove

posted by jrita on 05:49:24 G6T 03/06/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Let me begin by saying this stove is the best i have. Burns gasoline , diesel, kerosene the supplied multitool is adequate Burner has a rugged feel, seems pretty strong, pre-heat tube is strongly attached Wide range of power available, from a defening roar to a subtle flame accepts large diameter cookware

Cons: Roars like an airplane turbine puts a stong hydrocarbon stench everywhere it touches, (bags, hands ) lacks pressure release valve on the pump assembly

Other: definitly a must if you go outdoors in low temperatures or just if you wanna stop spending on ridiculously expensive gas canisters. Some care must be taken when operating

  • Well done outdoor cooking solution

    posted by 4ngry on 02:32:53 G6T 01/06/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Well-done stove and bottle with durable metal pump. Extremely easy ignition (compared even to much more expensive brands) and support. Strong construction allows you to boil even a pail of water. With a special pan, like n-power from primus you can boil 2 litter of snow for 3-5 minutes.

Cons: My one were leaking in the place where pipe connects to stove. Also metal bottle leg were broken during usage, but this is no problem.

Other: It is a perfect buy, I am buying another one for my wife. Also It would be helpful to have possibility to buy fuel pipe additionally, because in a hard usage it gets shortened.

  • good multifuel stove

posted by jrita on 13:49:18 G5T 25/05/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Being a multifuel stove is of particular importance to many outdoorsy people, Tried butane/propane and 95 gas and the burn is powerfull and steady after about a minute of so, with lots of power and control for your outdoor cockin'/snowmeltin' Multitool provided is adequate. Ignition is a breeze, just put some fuel on the priming cup and let it burn for 10 or 20 secs ( lots of soot ) and then open the fuel valve slowly. Stops burning relatively quickly for a multifuel stove after you shut the fuel valve off ( circa 2 minutes )

Cons: Like any other multifuel stove, special care should be taken when using standard gasoline, nevermind tolerating the stench rubbing off on the rest of your gear. This model actually compounds this problem by the lack of a pressure release valve on the fuel pump. To counter-act this, experience with this kind of stove will eventually teach you how much pressure you have to build inside the fuel canister so as to not end your cooking with a lot of pressure still in it ( it makes the cannister very hard to unscrew from the pump and sprays gasoline everywhere ) Sounds like an airplane turbine Manual comes in mandarin

Other: Good value if care is taken operating it and minor hydrocarbon stench is tolerated
