  • Feels nice, but does not work properly

posted by datost on 19:21:53 G2T 23/02/2014 certificated customer

Pros: The first impression after unpacking is nice. The rubber grip feels good, the button feel is nice, the wheels are a bit noisier to those on camera, but the feel is nice.

Cons: Already the first day the grip failed on working. The front wheel and the shutter button did not work. I reinstalled the grip, and it worked again. But already the next day there was the same problem. I have tried to reinstall it several times with no success. Only a very few times I have managed to take pictures with the shutter button on the grip. Really annoying. In addition the rubber is not perfectly glued, resulting in a "bad-quality-noise" when holding the camera with the grip. Not important, just irritating.

Other: If you only want extra battery capacity and a better grip for your hands this battery grip may be just fine. But if you, as me, are in need of all the buttons on the grip, I would consider another model. It is quite confusing not being able to take the pictures you want.

  • Battery Grip for Nikon D7000

Pros: Very good price, decent quality, solid piece of gear.

Cons: I have an issue with the grip. It seems to drain the batteries overnight. I have searched online and some grips seem to do this. Not sure if this is a defect or what???

Other: Cheap, extend your shooting time, beware of drained batteries...

  • Good product from Travor. Excelent alternative to Nikon original grip.

Pros: This thing is really more then I expected. It feels good in hands, makes my d7000 much, much more comfortable to hold (and I am guy with very big and wide hands). Also, rubbery feel on grips actually feels BETTER then on my camera (in sense of being comfortable to hold it). Don't know how much TIME it will look and feel good though (it feels like rubber on lens-rings). Good news also is - all contacts are good quality. Al functions work flawlessly.

Cons: Only one. It is small issue, but I gave the quality 4 stars solely because of it: joystick (and shooter button also) does feel a little loose. Not in a way it looks like it will brake, but like, they tried to make it easier to press and control, and now it is a little too easy to control :) (it is easy to, for example, instead move joystick left, You 'catch' movement upward ... )

Other: I recommend this to all because of it's quality and, let's face it: we have very small cameras, and no matter how big Your hands are, battery grip will give it stability and comfort. This battery grip IS VERY GOOD. And for such a small price ...:)

Pros: good quality for this price, feels good, rubber gives a good grip. You can run the camera only on one battery only in the battery pack, you dont have to leave a battery in the camera. This way you dont have to remove the grip to remove the camera battery. If you need extra power you can buy the sku 66095 3200mAh Battery Pack for Nikon MB-D11 / STD-ND7000

Cons: less build quality than original, but.. what do you expect for 1/5 of price so not really a con if you attach it to camera it feels like you want to over turn to attach, to make sure its correctly attached, something might break in this process if you dont look out..

Other: super deal, feels good, works fine

  • Great replacement for NIKON original

posted by paanvst on 01:46:20 G11T 28/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This battery grip has a very good build quality. Thanks to the different build materials it looks like the original. The grip works as expected with focusing on button half-pressed. The shutter button also has a lock to avoid shooting by mistake. Two Wheels for settings, and a small joystick with the same functions as on the camera. Assignable AE-L button.

Cons: The build quality is very good, but not excellent. Some very small loose object can be Heard falling around inside the grip. The Controls (button, Wheels, joystick) does not feel as accurate as on the camera.

Other: Great replacement for the NIKON original grip at a much lower price.

Pros: Great build, great price. Makes your camera much more comfortable to hold, at least if you got big hands like I have. The ability to use AA batteries if your out of battery power and got no charging possibilities out in the fields.

Cons: My camera shows "Err" message when the AA batteries are out of power. Removing the AA batteries from the slot solves that problem.

Other: Great product at a great price, strongly recommended.

Pros: This Battery Grip is excellet because looks like the original. Is really easy to keep into my Nikon D7000 and the shockets to AAA Battery and Original Nikon D7000 Battery are really cool. Im so happy with this item. The aux buttons works perfectly.

Cons: Until today i have no cons with this item. Really nice, easy and usefull. I think that i´m not going to have cons :)

Other: If you want a Battery Grip cheap, buy this one. Is absolutely cool and perfect. No cons. Fit perfectly, looks like the original even the color changes. Awesome, believe me.

Pros: Very well engineered, top marks for build quality and finish. Externally every detail matches the original; apart from the branding you really cannot tell the difference. The BP-D11 fits perfectly on the D7000 camera, both mechanically and functionally. The camera instantly recognizes the battery grip (as if it were an original MD-D11) as soon as you connect it. All the function buttons work flawlessly. It really is a useful asset for the D7000. I especially value the extra battery capacity it can provide, as the camera’s own battery can get drained quite fast when using VR (OS) lenses. Having two battery trays for either EN-EL15 or AA-size batteries is great as well. I recommend using low self-discharge NiMH AA batteries; they may cost a little bit more than standard NiMH’s but will not let you down when you need them.

Cons: Some of the buttons/controllers lack the sophisticated “feel” of those on the camera itself, thus revealing that they are probably of a somewhat cheaper construction. This especially applies to the front control wheel, whereas the rear control wheel is much better.
I had one issue where the camera reported a general error before shutting down completely. I could only fix this by removing the battery pack. It turned out to be caused by the AA-batteries being totally empty and, although being programmed to do so, the camera failing to switch to the (fully charged) camera battery. After doing some research I conclude that this is probably a camera firmware bug, as it has also occurred to OEM MB-D11 owners. Hence it is probably not attributed to the BP-D11.
In the AA-battery drawer, I found that a sharp, burry edge in the lower two battery recesses caused damage to the battery sleeves. I posted a picture to explain exactly what I mean. You can break this sharp edge with a knife or with sanding paper; this solves the problem.

Other: At less than one fifth of the price of the OEM product (MB-D11), this thing really is amazing value! It is definitely not some cheapo ripoff. Highly recommended.
