  • Nice Altimeter

Pros: -You don´t need supply it with external 3V3, you can use only and directly your 5V , because has a voltage regulator to convert 5V to 3V3(BMP085 work with 3V6 max!!!) -inclued a good temperature sensor -very small

Cons: The I2C bus will work low volts level, but it"s isn"t too bad because works good, even has others I2C devices supplied with 5V I connected it wit DHT 22, and 20x4 I2C displays at same time , at same I2C bus and no problem at all.

    Other: Nothing more

  • Great price and handy multi-voltage feature

Pros: This appears to be the real deal: works as expected for a BMP085 chip. This is the best price that I've seen for a BMP085 breakout board. The support for 3.3v is a very important for the increasingly common 3.3v platforms like the Raspberry Pi. 5v support also works without problems. The 2 mounting holes are also a nice design touch that is often not included on breakout boards.

    Cons: None

Other: Good quality board at an excellent price.

  • Great Barometric Sensor module with fair price

posted by insi on 22:31:00 G5T 26/05/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -It has a great range in measuring the barometric pressure (from 300 to 1100 hPa, according to the datasheet, what would be equivalent of a range from -500m to 9000m above sea level) and for bonus, you get temperature and altitude measurement as well (the last with a little math-workahound done by code) . -It makes a well-known and well-documented pressure sensor (Bosch's BMP085) very easy and cheap to use with your microcontroller. You just solder the pins (included with the product) to the holes in the PCB and you are good to go. - It has the option of using the BMP085 with a 5V supply. That's not the default voltage for this sensor and some older modules didn't include this option. This one does! -It has two screw holes to fix it in your final destination -All of this in this tiny I2C Module that, for most of the applications, will only use 2 wires/pins to communicate with your microcontroller (apart the 3V3 and the GND pin, of course).

Cons: - This Sensor has some complex internal math that seems a little complicated to hand-code yourself. So if buy it, it's easier to use with the Adafruit-BMP085-Library. If you want to skip the hard part and go all the way to the fun/hacking one, this is the right way ! - BMP085 is a IC2 sensor, and that makes it, when using arduino UNO, for example, limited to two specific ports of your Analog Inputs (A4 and A5). If your are planning to use it with other analogs sensors in an already existing project, you'd have to manage your sensors around the other pins or look for alternate solutions.

Other: Buy it if you need to measure Barometric or Atmospheric pressure! Great deal!

  • Good sensor at low Price

posted by xplit on 11:43:28 G5T 19/05/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good product, easy to use. I just connect to Arduino Mega, load the program http://bildr.org/2011/01/tmp102-arduino/ and in less than 5 mins i had my altimeter/pressure/temp sensor working. You can find a lot of information on internet of Bosch BMP085 sensor.

Cons: It's really difficult to find cons just be careful soldering the pins to the PcB, with a little experience and Soldering Paste it should be easy. It could be shipped with some protection

Other: Good sensor at low price (60% cheaper) nothing more to say

  • Accurate pressure and temperature for your arduino

    posted by RBMK9000 on 14:08:54 G1T 03/01/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: It works with arduino straight from the box. You can connect it straight to it, because it has pull ups, which pulls arduino's weak internal resistors down to 3,3V, but you can use some mosfets or zeners, if you want to be on a safe side.

Cons: no level converter, so watch your i2c bus closely.

Other: unsoldered pins are good feature, i used angled pins.

  • Tiny successful barometric sensor

posted by kirovclass on 02:41:28 G12T 04/12/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Tiny board with very successful Bosch BMP085. The sensor is very... sensitive to pressure variations. Considering that it's targeted to prototype hobbyist it's good to get it delivered with the connector not yet soldered (somebody may e.g. just solder directly sensor wires)

Cons: Can't see much fault in such a simple sensor. Perhaps if it would be shipped with even some tiny protection cage/grid (even plastic one), just to avoid the accidental direct hits onto the sensor itself.

Other: Nice package holding a temperature + pressure sensors together. So far it's the cheapest option for pressure sensors
