  • very nice module

Pros: I am very glad I bought this module. has two outputs: one is an analog output, which gives the sound level. for me it's around 50 when I don't make noise. when I clap, it's about 150 and when I shout directly into it it goes all the way to 1023. the other output is digital and goes HIGH when a treshold is reached. you can set this treshold physically buy turning the screw on the top.

    Cons: none that I know.

Other: buy it, you won't regret it.

  • Didnt really do what i wanted

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Easy enough to wire up Adjustable using the little screw on top Good value for money

Cons: The output is a bit wierd - at the time of a loud noise it registered funny but doesnt seem to pick up low noises at all - get it up and running and view the serial monitor then adjust the screw and check the output

Other: Good value for money - got it for AU$2.80 which is nothing

  • Arduino Microphone Sound Detection Sensor Module - Red

    posted by fabio1964 on 04:51:12 G2T 15/02/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Verry cheap sond detection module for arduino projects with adjustable Gain for the mic to AO ratio at first i got almost no reaktion on the AO unles i made very high noices. But after som testing og trial an error type i found out that the gain was adjusteble.

Cons: The sensitivity of a very bad below which even come up with deal. It does not measure the level of noise, it is designed to measure the level of Thunder. (Note: sensitivity of twisted in all directions). Or I got a defective sample.

    Other: ok

  • basic sound detector

posted by ScottJ on 00:29:39 G1T 04/01/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: it works at digital on/off sound detector, and it's cheap. The 100K variable resistor is used to set threshold for 393 comparator chip. So the input sensitivity is adjustable.

Cons: not amplified, so it's not very sensitive. At the greatest sensitivity, I was able to detect my hands clapping up to 2 meters. Also can detect tapping on table (with sensor laying on table). No low pass filter (no capacitor) so output is very noisy/spurious. The A0 analog output doesn't seem useful at all.

Other: it's cheap and easy to play with but has very limited use. I'm glad I bought one, but I will not buy any more.

  • Good digital, Bad Analog

posted by SwapFile on 22:32:27 G11T 30/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Good at detecting noise above and below a level. LM393 comparator onboard.

Cons: The analog output is not amplified at all. To use it, you need to pair it with a pre-amp.

Other: Great for detecting noise above a certain level. Not useful for hooking to an analog input without more components.

Cons: No user manual, and none to be found online. Or at least i couldn't :-)

Other: Works perfectly as an analog VU meter nice build qualety and wery cheap

Pros: It's very cheap. Appearance is very good. Just plug it and you will get data, its just a Thunder level meter.

Cons: The sensitivity of a very bad below which even come up with deal. It does not measure the level of noise, it is designed to measure the level of Thunder. (Note: sensitivity of twisted in all directions). Or I got a defective sample.

Other: Nothing else to say, its very cheap but it works bad. I do not advise to buy this product.

  • it works

    posted by judas3000 on 08:55:22 G8T 20/08/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: it works as expected audio meter + threshold sensor 1 pin for input voltage 1 pin for analog audio level reading 1 pin that is only on if the adjustable threshold is reached 1 pin ground

Cons: i had to do some digging to figure out how to adjust the threshold. you see the blue box with brass "knob", you can turn it up/down 12 times around to adjust the threshold

Other: it's just what it is, nothing more, nothing less

  • Very good sound sensor

posted by luqux on 07:08:21 G7T 16/07/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Just plug it and you will get data, its just a sound level meter, It has 2 data pins, one always sending 5v, or i simply just dont know whats that pin for. >The other pin, sends 0 to 5v when u talk or scream or smash it to something.

Cons: not so far, it seams that the screw resistor is endless, but dont want to try, it seams it will break.

Other: nothing else to say, its very cheap and it works well.nothing else to say, its very cheap and it works well.
