  • Cheap and effective

Pros: The best solution for this money.

Cons: Packaging has been opened. The battery cover is not held, it is assumed there is no screw. On the device, there is no indicator of the charging process - just switch.

Other: 11 mAh for $30 - that's a lot, lot cheaper than counterparts Li-Ion batteries. A great solution for long autonomous hikes, geocaching and Ingress game.

Pros: This piece is cheap. Maybe useful. Quality is good enough for it's price. It charges my Kodak PlaySport Camera and my Mp3 Player also works well with it.

Cons: Unfortunately it doesn't charge my android smartphone Motorola XT535 via micro-usb. Maybe not enough stream for it to detect source? I don't know :(

Other: Main target of this buying failed - my phone doesn't charge from it. I guess it's somehow related with it's specific. Other devices work well with it.

Pros: there is an on off switch so that is good and the springs are nice, the usb connector was bent on mine but it was eaisly fixed and now is working and can be used.

Cons: the cover does not snap securely closed so the lid is prone to sliding open occasionally, just keep a rubber band around it to keep it closed

Other: get this if you need portable usb power on the go and depending on your device you can even use rechargeable batteries

  • Useful in case of emergency

Pros: Very useful in case of emergency when you don't have a nearly source of power. For example, in my case, when going outdoors to the mountain using my mobile device as a GPS and running out of battery. This tool saves me of being out of communications in an emergency.

Cons: It is not the same power as a real source of power. I use it with four rechargeable batteries and don't get the same results. Slow charging times and don't get full battery on my mobile device.

Other: It's worth to have one because of it's low price despite it's not perfect. But can help you and save your life in a situation when you need battery on your mobile device to make a call, for example.

Pros: Good size for traveling. Cheap product to charge different electronics with connection to USB.

Cons: Not charging with ordinary alkaline batteries (duracel). I used philips rechargeable batteries 2100 mAh and connect to my HTC Desire smartphone. They just charge it about 40 percent, and then began to rapidly discharge smartphone to 0 percent. I've tried other rechargeable batteries with a capacity of 2500 mAh and the smartphone is loaded only about 4 percent, and then began to discharge my smartphone.

Other: It's only for charging small devices with low capacity.

Pros: I have earlier bought this unit for myself and works fine. The unit works as designed with 4 pcs AA batteries which is the best part of this product. AA batteries are readily available in every shops where battery is sold, both local and overseas. There is a on/off switch at the corner. Initially it didnt work on any devices and I had the impression it was faulty. After I turned it on, all is fine and working well.

Cons: It doesn't charge iPhone 4 when you connect the charging cable to the USB of this battery pack. My brother had an iPhone 3GS and it did not work with it. I guess it just didnt with iPhone.

Other: Rather good battery pack for devices can be connected to USB power.

Pros: Cheap Useful Works as it should

Cons: Build quality, the cover cannot stay in its place. Also, the plastic used is of low quality, so do not expect anything fancy. It lacks an LED so you could tell if it works or not, or to indicate low battery status

Other: Worth the money (if you are not a perfectionist and do not care about the build quality, but functionality)

Pros: Flexible USB cable if enough for everything that can be connected to USB for charging. On/off swith is useful. No complicated circuitry, so it will work for long. No problems of charging or power supplying for any USB devices.

Cons: Bad box cover, can fell off or break easily. Cheap plastic.

Other: If you have some AA cells already, it will be cheaper than more expensive battery packs. Good for its price.

  • Does what it's supposed to do

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Simple device, no complicated circuitry involved but works as expected. It is able to fully charge my Nokia and LG phones without any issues. Doesn't get hot like other 1 or 2 cell chargers due to lack of any boost converter. USB plug is highly convenient because just about any phone can be charged directly with USB cable or with the help of adapter.

Cons: Build quality is terrible. Feels rickety and is certain to break the first time you drop it. Shoddy workmanship even in the interior of the device. I found the cover of this device to be split into three pieces when it arrived but I managed to join it together with Industrial super glue.

Other: Great little accessory for those who frequently treks or hikes.

posted by StoneColdsg on 09:42:50 G10T 02/10/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - It works as advertised
    - Simple construction
    - Takes 4 AA batteries instead of 2
    - Multi purpose, works well with phones and other devices
    - On/off switch is useful when you need to store it away for future use

Cons: I bought 2 of these, but the cable on one was loose and detached. I had to tape the cable down to keep it from being ripped off.

Other: Its useful, would get more if I need it
