  • Perfect backtracking companion

Pros: Dirt cheap adapter. works out of the box in backTrack Worked out of the box.

Cons: Has hung on me a few times. Mac was a big hazzle, not recomended. The drivers was not good

Other: If you like to use it with BT it's perfect. Mac, a big no-no, only thing that's crashed my mac. Windows, seemed to work out of the box in Win 7 64 bit, no further sest though

    Pros: Cheap, works very good.
Bought 4 off them allready for my friends
no complaint or what so ever.
Linux recognized the device whit no problem.
Driver installation worked ok if you are not afraid off opening folders with chinese name's

Cons: Installation of the driver can be hard, if you are a average user. the folders are in chinees names written.
The performance using Linux is better than using windows.

Other: Great product, does exactly as advertised.

  • Fantastic little gadget

posted by sebaseba on 15:25:44 G5T 16/05/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - It has a RF faraday cage inside
    - Good small antenna
    - RTL8187 chipset, which has a very good sensitivity not just power
    - USB cable included
    - RP-SMA connector

Cons: - A bit more expensive than the competitors
    - It doesn't support 5 GHz (802.11a) even though RTL8187 should in theory support it

Other: Compared to others is a bit more expensive, but it has a metal cage inside, which others lack. So you can hold it in your hand, if you have an external antenna on a longer cable, and you won't affect the signal, but that's easily solvable on the cheap ones, you just wrap it in aluminum foil and make sure the outer part of the RP-SMA connector is touching it.

  • Better than internal

posted by Cicaro on 00:09:27 G4T 09/04/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Easy to use, installs itself, at least under Ubuntu. - Light weight - Better reception than the internal wifi on my laptop

Cons: - Plastic casing seems quite fragile - No carrying pouch, would probably use it more often if it came with a leather case. - Not as strong signal as it claims to be. I struggled to find the wifi with it when I'm going outside the house even if I'm just at the other side of the outside wall. Can see my network a long distance away but can't connect

Other: - To replace an internal its good value, however its not worth the money if you buying it for going out in the garden, even with a good router the sender in it seems to be a little week. - May be possible to tweak up if you are good with drivers and can change things in it?

  • Works, but build quality of mine is not good

posted by cadocado on 07:13:10 G3T 24/03/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This is a little device that is perfect for what it is: USB goes in at one end, wifi comes out the other end. It supports detachable antennas, it comes with a pretty good antenna already, and it works out of the box in Linux. Also it comes with Backtrack in Vmware. What more can you want?

Cons: What I certainly wanted was a better build quality. The device is good, the antenna is good, but the manufacturer skimped on the usb connector. When I pick up or move the device, it looses the USB connection and then reconnects to my computer. It was too loose. I had to fix it by bending the metal. It works now but it shouldn't have been like this. Price: Compared to wifi-N sticks for $10 - $11, I think it could be cheaper.

    Other: Great network scanning tool.

    Pros: Very powerful.
Supports BT4 right from a box with all great features!
BIG plus for that it has a good antenna connector, wire it up with a powerful antenna....

Cons: I bought 2 ones, another of those was broken, HAD to solder missing part to the board. There was big scratch also on the board where part was supposed to be.
But i didn't mind, but someone could!

Other: Works with BT-goods right from a box, powerful. What else you could ask for this price!

Pros: Excellent reception, it detects all the available wireless network in the area. Work with all types of security protocols. No need for installing the cd. Plug and play. Works perfect with linux. Works with backtrack.

Cons: The usb cable could be a bit longer but other than that no cons.

Other: I got two sets and i use them at my country house for free internet!!! I sure recommend it!

  • Probably best WiFi adapter on DX

posted by VladLV on 12:58:26 G12T 27/12/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Very high sensitivity and transmit power - Stable connection, no disconnects even with weak signal - Good build quality. Feels sturdy enough - Included antenna is good, but I'm waiting to see how it works with sku.37185 - Included DVD contains both Backtrack 3 and 4 and drivers for most operating systems, including Win7 x64

    Cons: None!

Other: If You are in doubt and look for high-power USB WiFi adapter for security research or free wifi network acess, this is the best You can get! Have tested only with b/g networks so far. It shows also some n networks, but was unable to connect them because I don't know the password yet.
