Pros: GPS and track log. 2in1 devices. GPS receiver plus track recorder. Very fast setup Easy to use It works with TomTom nicely

Cons: Needs Jailbreak iPad to instal RoqyBT4, because Standard BT stack is not able to connect it. The software installation for track log reader could be improved, but it works Everything works fine after all

Other: Good. Dual use. Very reliable. Cheap. Very fast to get satellites

  • Great success with TomTom/Navigon on iPad

Pros: - Small size. - Quick to acquire GPS lock. - Bluetooth connects quickly. - Bluetooth pairs fine with a jail-broken iPad running iOS4.2.1 and RoqyBT4. - Most cost-effective GPS device I could find that works with RoqyBT4. - Great price for what it does.

Cons: None that have impacted me. It's done exactly what I want it to.

Other: This device has met my requirements just perfectly. I bought a Wi-fi only iPad, not expecting to ever need an iPad with GPS. Then I bought a 10m converted bus/motorhome. Doh! I have so much dash and window space that it would be a shame to have to use the tiny screen of my iPhone for navigation instead of the huge iPad screen. Mounted in a windshield suction mount (sku 44371), and coupled to this GPS via Bluetooth using RoqyBT4, the iPad makes an awesome navigation device. My usage procedure: - Turn on GPS Receiver. - Start RoqyBT4 on iPad (Bluetooth & Location-Services already enabled on iPad). - Wait about 10 seconds for RoqyBT4 to acquire link with GPS Receiver. - Start TomTom/Navigon/etc..

  • Excellent gadget for phone and laptop use

posted by georgistz on 03:38:05 G2T 12/02/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Small and light, good battery life.
Nice logging feature, works even if not connected to a phone or anything - just has to be in the "on" position.
Quick cold start and reacquisition - just a few second after turning it on and has s position lock.
Works perfectly with my phone (SE K550i) and laptop.
Can be used as a standalone "black box" to track where someone/thing has been all day.

Cons: Charger port is not Micro-USB (as with any newer phone), so to charge it, you have to carry its cable (which plugs in any USB charger or port, so still convenient).
Extremely slow first position lock - took about 40-60 minutes when first started out of the box.
    No battery status indication.
Uses USB just for charging, the data connection is through bluetooth only.

Other: Excellent little thing, exactly what I wanted.

Pros: This device is awesome at what it does - acts as GPS receiver and track logger. Great reception after it fixes to satellites, even indoors. Short charging time, but can work for hours, also uses same charger as my nokia phones (specifically, I have E63 - no problems with Google Maps or Sygic Mobile).

Cons: I spent perhaps a week browsing every forum to get software working. One included with disc does not work on any of my computers (freezes after startup) - only managed to work with it this way - delete last entry in program configuration file, where I think is last folder specified, next time you run the program it will give error, but stragely enough it will not freeze.

Other: Great device for the price, and good functionality too. My only complain - that you have to be very patient with software, and actually have lots of free time and knowledge to get any results.

  • Works great with PDAs

posted by lejige on 10:28:03 G7T 26/07/2010 certificated customer

Pros: This is a great little GPS gadget that works well with my PDAs. I've tested it with an HP iPaq, an HTC Touch running Garmin Mobile XT and MapKing. Bluetooth connects in an instant and GPS takes only a few seconds to catch sattelites. I've also tried it with laptops running Garmin Mobile PC and nRoute and the bundled software GPS Track Tagger. Track Tagger is ok if you manage to connect it. It will show your tracks on google maps and it's pretty accurate.
I used a new version of Bluesoleil as I already had it in my laptops and it works great. Windows' native bluetooth stack also works but less configurable.

Cons: Connection with laptops is a bit flaky. In Win7, I had to set Garmin Mobile PC and Track Tagger to run as admin for it to connect via bluetooth. In XP, it's a bit hit and miss since there is no per program admin setting.
I wish there was a software with more features than reading and saving tracks like exporting to other formats such as GPX which Garmin mapsource understands. A third party software, GPSBabel, can do this for you however.
The device also does not come with a carrying case or a loop to hang on to.

Other: Overall, it's a nice purchase for me. I'll be getting another one.

  • Cheap and good

Pros: I use this GPS receiver with my Nokia E63 (Symbian OS) for car navigation and like GPS data logger for my bike trips. Some main experiences:
    - work fine with Nokia Maps and Sygic Mcguider
    - position is fixed in 60 second
    - google maps works fine too (but there is no voice navigation in Europe)
    - saved GPS logs are in KMl format (Google Earth can open it)
    - BT is automatically ON after start- then you can connect your mobile phone etc. After 5 minut withount BT conection bluetooth is automatically turn off and only data logger is active (power save)
    - GPS log work great in my pocket :-)
    - small and light machine

Cons: - plastic body seems cheap :-(
    - there is only bluetooth conection (no USB)
    - there is no case included
    - GPS Track Tagger is not very friendly software- there is no direct export function etc.

Other: Good machine with nice price. It work like GPS receiver with my phone and like GPS data logger too. But body material and included software are not very good.

    Pros: Very fast shipping !
Pretty good built quality, works very well, in so much places,
Works perfect well in my Nokia 5530!
Works whit all Original Nokias accessories.
    Battery lasts much.

Cons: Whit nokia maps, it dont show where is "radar"
I think there is no other cons.
if you have a Notebook/ PDA / Cellphone whit bluetooth BUY IT !.

Other: Works like any other GPS system, i like it so much.

  • Good value, but you might need additional software

    posted by core2010 on 17:52:55 G6T 13/06/2010

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: It logs data
You can use it as bluetooth receiver
    Relatively compact and light
Apparently it uses a standard Nokia battery so you can get spares
It's the cheapest logger here on DX

Cons: NOT waterproof at all (mine is now broken)
Does not output in GPX format, and the KML output is latitude/longitude ONLY (.dat logs does contain other info though)
You need to use multiple software to make any use of your logs (GeoVisu + GPX Editor 1.0232 for GPX logs; the included software to configure settings and clear tracks)
Bluetooth is the ONLY interface (USB is for charging only, not transferring data)

Other: It's a good deal for what it does, but expect to get your hands a little dirty trying to figure out how to correctly use the data logs. GeoVisu is free and seems to work fine. Read the forums below; you'll find alot of useful information.
Also, keep in mind that you NEED bluetooth on your computer/device because USB is for powering only. Get the sku.11866 it works fine.
Finally, if you're going to take this on any outdoor trips, be sure to put is in a ziplock bag or otherwise waterproof case, because once it's soaked in water it's done. Mine got wet on a bike tour and now the bluetooth doesn't work anymore, which makes it useless.

  • Quite good gps-tracker

posted by tsuppa on 01:39:49 G3T 23/03/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This device is great comparing other devices available in same price level.

Cons: No battery charge level indicator, but it's not problem if you charge it after every use. Plastic seems quite fragile.

Other: Buy better battery sku.32404 With sku.32404 battery lasts about 20-22 hours without Bluetooth connection. Works perfectly with sku.11866 bt-dongle. Code for pairing pc and gps is 0000 BT connection is available about 5minutes after turning device on. It turns off automatically. Data recording starts automatically when you turn the device on. Included software is GPS Track Tagger. You need this software to adjust GPS configuration settings (logging time etc). Its also possible to disable data logging and clear all recorded tracks. Quick guide for included GPS Track Tagger software: First adjust correct com-port [ Tools->options ] according to Bluetooth configuration Then [ File->Read Track ] Route data is stored under program installation folder \Data\ You can import/read this data to Google earth program.
