  • Great product!

Pros: Great build quality and works great and easy when you know the controller is a "ST7920". I used it for my energy node to display the values from my wireless sensor nodes. SPI (serial) worked great, on the internet there is a lot of information about this product!

Cons: The only problem I had is that the screen should run on 3.3 volt (between 2,7 and 5,5v according to the specs). When I run the screen on 3.3V the brightness is to light to have a good view. I'll tried a POT (10K) to fix this but I had no success. Now the processor is running on 3.3v and the screen at 5v. That works great!

    Other: None.

Pros: This is cheapest GLCD that i found.

Cons: Product is missing datasheet. There is no clear mart witch display chip or interface is used. Mine just have mark 12864B which is not very helpful.

    Other: I recommend this product

  • Good one and perfect price

Pros: With help of the very helpful Tipps in the DX Forum for this product it was very easy to set up and run it using the U8glib for Arduino.

    Cons: none so far

Other: Easy to use product with perfect result for my needs. Good to handle with an Arduino UNO in SPI mode. This will save a lot of cables and it is still fast enough. I used PINs 10,11,13 to get it running. But I found no speed improvements using this hw MOSI Pins insted of Software SPI.

  • Nice LCD display

posted by Renoir on 17:13:58 G2T 12/02/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Very nice clear display. Nice blue backlight, and relatively easy to get going with some tips. Ideal for my small project and seems like it is solidly built.

Cons: No instructions, so novices would need some help to get going - not quite a plug and play, but fairly close.

Other: Excellent value display - would buy more.

  • VERY NICE !!!

    posted by Seb26g on 16:12:00 G12T 30/12/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - VERY VERY VERY VERY CHEAP (the cheapest GLCD screen I ever saw) - working fine for more than 5 months without any problem, - adjustable screen brightness , - powerful blue/white contrast, - totally compatible with Arduino (even Arduino nano) - connects through SPI interface = needs only 3 connectors (+VCC, GND, brightness, etc.) - easy to use with Arduino “U8glib” library (available on the Internet), which do not require a lot of coding knowledge, - it is also easy to convert images into code to be shown on the screen (using the software “U8GlibCreator” for instance)

    Cons: NONE AT ALL !!!

Other: If you are buying or are already possessing an Arduino board, add this item to you order, you will always find a way to use it !

  • Easy to use, but can't find a parallel library for it

    posted by bmilne81 on 20:18:19 G11T 21/11/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Very easy to use in I2C Screen quality is excellent Construction is very good

Cons: Can't find a good explanation of how to use it in 8 bit parallel mode, so I don't know how fast the refresh rate is and thus I can't really determine how well it would function for heavy graphic displays. Other than that it's absolutely perfect.

Other: For 13 bones, you can't beat it.

  • Excellent, low cost display

posted by slePP on 19:20:16 G10T 15/10/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This display can operate in SPI mode, which is a huge benefit when you need the fewest pin count. The backlight is nice and bright and the contrast is adjustable on the back with a pot. Works out of the box with Arduino u8glib.

Cons: The backlight needs to be wired separately from the display inputs, and there seems to be no documentation on the current or voltage required for the backlight. The backlight isn't adjustable on the board.

Other: The resolution is good at 128x64, the price is good, and the display speed is decent enough for updating outputs/data many times per second. There is a little LCD lag, but it isn't a problem unless you're trying to do high speed graphics.
