  • Portable card reader

    Pros: Don't need any extra cable, plugs directly in a USB port. Compatible with most of the memoy cards. It has a red LED light indicating when the card reader is reading/writting.

    Cons: The only thing that I consider a cons is that the USB conentor is made of plastic instead of metal, but it works as well, although plastic is easier to get broken than metal is.

    Other: Always is a good idea to have a multi card reader near, you never know when you can need one. So this is a good buy (low price, great compatibility)

    Pros: Works, SDHC/MMC etc. and the T-Flash/MicroSD slots work. Haven't tested the MS slot, but I'm sure that works too. Inserting an SD card is fairly quick and painless. Good plastic quality

    Cons: MicroSD is hard to insert, you have to push it in fairly hard, and it's difficult to take it out. You have to be very gentle. Would have liked the USB insert itself to be metal (it's plastic), so it looks and feels a bit flimsy. The rest of it is still solid though.

    Other: This is a decent reader. However, if you'll be using it with a MicroSD frequently, then choose another MicroSD reader. Otherwise you might get a bit frustrated with this one.

    Pros: it has 3 slots for cards, i only bought this for micro sd and that works like a charm too. mine is also a writer while the advert only says it is a reader, the only reason i bought this was because in the reviews lot of people said it also writes.

    Cons: it feels a bit cheap the usb is from plastic and not from metal wich is pretty much a standard for usb devices

    Other: get this reader and not one of thos smallest micro sd readers, i bought two of them and they broke within a week

    Pros: It works!
    You can use may different kinds of cards.
    It's fast.
    It's easy to use

    Cons: I have seen faster.
    You can only read 1 card at a time.

    Other: It's a great product, I have lost the cable to connect my camera to the computer, the cable was quite more expensive than this card reader, it doesn't require to have the battery charged in the camera and it reads many other cards formats :D

  • A must-have cheap card reader

    posted by cfsantos on 18:50:38 G8T 21/08/2010 certificated customer

    Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: Very cheap; (for a Brazilian)
    A reasonable quality;
    Reads a lot of formats;
    Very light;
    There's a led that blinks when the card is in use;
    Just plug-and-play on Windows XP;

    Cons: For a "XING-LING" product? Anyone! Since I still have not seen a product like this made in another place of the world, I think this product is in the expected quality level for this kind of thing.

    Other: I think that my English is horrible. I'm sorry. But if you are in doubt to buy this, don't be afraid: buy it and be happy (while the product works...)

    Pros: The perfect cheap card reader. Reads tons of formats, even though all I need is SD and microSD. Small and decent-looking. No issues with write protection or anything in Ubuntu 10.04.

    Cons: Feels pretty cheap, even the USB connector is mostly plastic. Not that it feels super-fragile, just try not to drop it on the floor.

    Other: Satisfies my needs, you're not going to find anything better at this price.

    Pros: - it reads every memory card i put in it - it works with mac os x 10.5 leopard - very lightweight - portable

    Cons: - made of plastic - feels like you can break with one hand - LED light does not blink when it's reading or writing

    Other: - you cannot wrong with this product, specially with the cheap price. it does what it suppose to do: read memory cards.

  • Reads everything but has write protection issues

    posted by chrmnxpnoy on 23:53:39 G3T 05/03/2009 certificated customer

    Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: - It read everything I placed inside of it
    - Works great with SDHC cards

    Cons: This card has a big issue with write protection on my SDHC card. Every time I placed it inside of this card reader and tried to delete files, it would constantly prompt that 'Delete Failed. Write protected disk'. However, when I placed the SDHC card into my camera and used the usb cord, it deletes the files perfectly fine.

    Other: It's great if you want to read and transfer files from it, but if you want to delete and move things into the card, there might be some write-protect issues. Beware!

    Pros: Great little reader. Does what it suppose to do. Does not take up much space at all. Plug it when you need it and unplug when not in use.

    Cons: Heats up easily, so don't keep it plugged in. The plastic case feels a bit flimsy, so do not abuse it. I does stick out quite a bit, so it's an eyesore when plugged in.

    Other: Nice reader if you use it like once a week. Any more than that and it will probably overheat and die on you.

  • Windows XP: plug/unplug 3 times, then works fine

    posted by flavoie on 13:34:40 G2T 10/02/2009 certificated customer

    Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: This card reader was tricky, but i'm really satisfied with it. It works well under Windows XP when you follow this sequence: Insert, Wait for Windows XP to install stuff. Remove. Insert (2), Wait for Windows XP to install stuff. Remove. Insert(3) - now your card reader is good to go.

    Cons: Did not look like it worked at first, but eventually it did work ! (see above) A little bit harder to insert the plastic connector in a USB port, but works well anyways. Does not support CompactFlash - it does not claim to support it either.

    Other: Good size multi-card reader. Good buy.
