Pros: It's solid, has a great weigh, I bought a umbrella and a yongnuo flash, works great!

Cons: The little piece in the end, below the black piece arrived broke, it´s very delicate, I fixed it with a super glue and now there no problem, but supposed than no have to happen, it's something new.

    Other: I recommend it

Pros: What you can't see from the photo is that the bottom unscrews to become a tripod-mount (or small thread) to large tripod thread converter, with the resulting hole allowing mounting of this item on a large tripod thread. On the other end, the top two rings unscrew, allowing you to use the black flash holder on a tripod, or use the exposed thread to mount a compact camera. In effect, this allows you to turn a lightstand into a very tall tripod suitable for use with a compact camera - ideal for getting a video camera up high.

Cons: You'll want more than one - I've got two and will probably order a few more. For the intended use, the main problem is that the whole thing isn't terribly sturdy (although metal construction), and that the flash is mounted well above the central axis of any umbrella.

Other: Worth getting if you want to mount flash or compact cameras with more control, plus there's always the umbrella thing.

  • Cheap, but Quality a Little Wanting...

    posted by Tw15t3r on 06:58:45 G4T 02/04/2013 certificated customer

Pros: It's pretty cheap, and does the job. The square thing you see below is basically an adaptor. With it, this bracket mounts on a standard tripod or lightstand. Without it, it's a much bigger hole and (I think) it mounts on to the bigger lightstands or something.

Cons: The build quality isn't very good. The ball joint is difficult to move around even after loosening the screw (haven't tried applying lubricant), but you can get the hang of it. The threading isn't completely straight. After mounting, it ended up looking slightly slanted. Thankfully it's a ball-joint. The umbrella screw is small, so it will dent the umbrella handle even though you try not to put alot of pressure on it.

Other: This bracket is very usable if you're on a budget, and it gets the job done. It just doesn't feel that good.

  • It does what it suppose to.

Pros: This cheap little thing does what it suppose to: it hold Your speedlight and an umbrella. It can be mounted on standard studio light, OR, on YOUR CAMERA TRIPOD! which is nice. It goes 360 degrees around, so no way You will not be able to turn everything just the way You like it.

Cons: The metal is aluminum, and it is very lite. It does not make You trust it (it's sturdiness). All the screws are also aluminum. Looks like it could be broken if not used carefully. When I put my speedlight on it, the position where I got best and toughest screw-on was a little bit off towards opening for umbrella so I had to turn the head of my speedlight so it faces the umbrella. This is not too bad, though. Anyway, good thing is: it is so cheap, that You do not get to complain much. Also, You can buy all bunch of it and use it and toss it as You work :{)

Other: This is one of those things: it does what it suppose to - and more! , but it is not of highest quality. But when You see this unbelievable price, it becomes actually much more then You paid for. So, buy it!

  • Won't work on a standard light stand

posted by idrewthis on 06:18:37 G2T 01/02/2013 certificated customer

Pros: Good little unit for the budget-conscious photog. It does pretty much what it says it's supposed to.

Cons: The mistake I made was in thinking the tripod thread could be removed and that this bracket could be mounted on a standard 5/8 spigot light stand. It can't. This is only for tripod thread mounting. Also, when it's all screwed together snugly, direction of the flash shoe is not on the same axis as the umbrella, which means you either have to fiddle with the way the shoe is connected, or have a flash that swivels.

Other: Cheap and effective but make sure it's the mount you need.

    Other: Compren 2!!!!

  • Used it to mount other devices to my SLR

posted by HDextreme on 19:58:06 G12T 28/12/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: I used this product to mount my Panasonic TA-1 HD Camcorder to the top of my Canon 450D SLR. When I used my camcorder. I flipped it up and when I wasn't using it, I filled it down... My SLR didn't have a video recording function, hence the need for this product.

Cons: The cleat on this product does not have a locking nut, so whatever it mounts to, must have a way to lock it into place. This item had a tendency to fall out of my camera's hot shoe.

Other: Good product for what I used it for.

Pros: Very usefull item. Cheap priced. Allows the connection of both umbrella and flash on the tripod for softer light. Has a rotateble head and adjustable pins. Made of metal and plastic.

    Cons: Didn't find any cons.

Other: It's an easy of use product that lets you connect an umbrella and a flash to your tripod. By using this combination you can achieve softer and more beautifull lighting effect and get better photos. Good value.

  • does the job

posted by eljonas on 13:53:23 G10T 02/10/2012 certificated customer

Pros: This is a flash shoe to flash shoe with an umbrella screw. The best use of this one is to use the tripod to flash and flash to tripod parts separately. All the parts can be used separately so it can be used to angle say a compact camera too.

Cons: The screws must be fastened using a pliar or similar tool. Be careful not to mount anything too heavy using this stand bracet umbrella holder.

Other: It is a good backup but I would not use this as an everyday tool for photography, not even for amateur use.

  • Good support for flash ...

posted by FerBenitez on 06:20:54 G8T 14/08/2012 certificated customer

Pros: - Good materials, completely disassembled, which I facilitated the placement of a rover that would otherwise have been impossible. - The screws allow adjustments give appropriate guidance to the flash and umbrella.

Cons: - Perhaps in the first instance the ability to be as "collapsible" and adaptable complicated to arrange the items in the correct orientation.

Other: - Good product for entering the world of photography and the use of flash, maybe find one at a time of higher quality.
