  • Good Stable Flashlight/FM and Solar Panel

posted by KillerFliege on 10:33:31 G3T 02/03/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -the sun don't must shine driectly on the solar panel, it loads also if the flashlight is in a room with a window. -hand cranked dynamo is realy stable -speaker is cleary and loud

Cons: -it is difficult to control the FM -don't load mobile phons if it is only the solar panel active, use hand cranked dynamo and mobile phones will be load. -no battery in it

Other: Buy it, and you will be happy with it :)

  • awesome flashlight

    posted by gabbar1 on 13:53:25 G7T 25/07/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: -charges without sunlight, just place it near a lamp or window, and it will charge -good quality constructions -the radio works very good, reception can be tricky in certain locations, but you can always extend the antenna by connecting a longer wire

Cons: it has a odd shape, due to which it is tricky to put it down and make it face the sun for charging, but due to the solar cell being sensitive, it will still charge. With no flat sides, it's always toppling over or spinning about with little movement. solar panel surface easily gets scratched, so be careful.

Other: In case of an emergency this will provide light, listening to radio and charge your cellphone all at the same time. a good emergency radio/flashlight to have at home.

Pros: It's quality is great. All the functionalities work fine, just as explained.
The dinamo crank handle looks very strong.
Although it didn't bring all the necessary cellphone charger, with the USB adapter you can charge almost any recent cellphone.

Cons: It gets really hot when the solar charge is used.
If you want to find a specific radio signal it can be tricky.

Other: It's a very good product. It's quality and all the functions work great. In case of an emergency you can have light, radio and charge your cellphone to play (let's face it, in case of emergency the cellphone lines don't work the best)

  • expensive, but excellent quality and functionality

posted by mongman on 22:53:31 G1T 18/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This item impresses with it's quality. It was more expensive than other similar products here, but I have no regrets on paying more for this. It keeps itself charged up for emergency or ad hoc use just sitting where it is (as long as the panel is facing up!). LED shows when, and how much it is charging

Cons: Unusual shape means it is a little unstable compared to say a flat bottomed object but this is only a minor issue. The buttons for the radio and torch are easily pressed when hand-cranking which doesn't sound like much but it is irritating.

Other: Very useful device have around. Well built and durable.

  • Design flaws but still good Product

    posted by rewardsman101 on 01:26:01 G6T 17/06/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Great price for all the features it offers, solar panel charging or crank handle
Sound from radio comes through clearly
Multiple adapters for charging different devices

Cons: Whilst the build quality looks good I'm worried how the crank handle will stand the test of time, If used correctly (and not in the hands of a 5 year old) it should hold together fine I think.
Design issues are the biggest con, as stated in a previous review it has no flat edges to rest on so which is a pain when trying to position the solar panel or direct the sound when listening to the radio

Other: Despite its flaws I still love it and it provides a wealth of feature at a great price, the big question is whether it will stand the test of time

  • Works OK, Versatile, But Not the Best Design

posted by Festus on 16:07:25 G5T 22/05/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Versatile, compact, light and small. Charge light suggests it's charging even indoors at night when the room lights are on. FM-only radio draws in nearby stations OK. Four LED lights are adequate for close-by personal use and, as a flashlight, fits hand nicely. Several adapters included for most popular brand cellphones. Crank handle ensures power available for phone, radio, light, or anything else that can be plugged in, at any time.

Cons: Shape might fit nicely in the hand or pocket, but too many curves make it difficult to position appropriately for the sun, speaker or flashlight. With no flat sides to rest on, apart from the partially recessed crank handle, it's always toppling over or spinning about in a vehicle. Exposed and convex plastic solar panel surface easily gets scratched.
FM radio uses 'press to scan next station' auto tuning system with no frequency clues at all. May need many presses and intuition to find preferred station. Seems to need a fairly strong signal to stay locked on - annoyingly it locks onto slightly weaker stations OK, then goes silent a minute or so later.
LED lights aren't very powerful, barely lighting a safe path on a dark night unless fully charged, and seem to dim fairly quickly if not charged regularly. Though pocketable, the light 'press on, press off' switch is inappropriate and too exposed. If packed in a bag or placed in a pocket it can very easily be bumped and turned on inadvertently and the battery would be quickly flattened.

Other: Nice features, and probably well constructed, but a very poor design. There are other single function items on the DX product list that when bundled would offer more reliability but the same features than this all-in-one multi-function unit.

  • Very handy item!

posted by dinkodavo on 22:38:46 G3T 08/03/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

    Pros: - Very compact.
    - Easy to use.
    - Charges quickly.
    - Reception on radio is better than anticipated.

Cons: - Handle might break if used roughly.
    - Can't see what radio station your on.
    - Phone charger doesn't have enough adapters (New thin type Nokia, Mini USB and I think it might be Samsung. Needs Sony Ericsson, maybe iPhone etc.)

Other: All in all a very handy item to carry with you on camping trips or at work. You never know when your going to need a torch or radio!

  • 4 in 1 - dynamo + solar + charger + radio + flashl

posted by Goury on 14:09:57 G10T 06/10/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - it works (wow! not every dx item works) - its okay - dynamo flashlight is lot brighter than other dynamo flashlights - its wery lightweight

Cons: - no earphones holes found - thats bad =( - plastic case reflects a lot of solar back to source - no inner battery (just condenser) - its enough to keep flashlight on for few minutes but charging only for 2-3 seconds so u need to crank it permanently and hard - radio is too $^% - just scan and reset buttons. +/- and some programs needed in functionality. little lcd is best.

Other: i wrote some letters here because DX said me i need
