Pros: -Solid Metal -Good looking long antenna -Long power chord even if its USA pins I could bend them careful for AUS/NZ Socket

Cons: -Didnt fit on one router a older wireless G syslink one.. the antenna where thicker screw design however it fit nicely the newer D-link dir-825 -Although it added 1 bar to most things to what i was getting anyhow the samsung tv was getting a nice 4 bars other end of house and laptop windows 7 with 5 bars the cheap Chinese tablet with bad wifi antenna got a slight boost but was still only max 1-2 bars where the laptop in same location was 4 bars. now we are talking about 10-12 meters from antenna booster that passes through glass door and one brick wall and 2 plaster boards with wooden framing. outside ip camera about the same where also getting 4-5 bars and 30-43MB speed according to the router status. I think its done something

Other: Maybe worth buying a different router that offers 1000mw on 2 antennas but this seems good work around on a existing router but this seems to get a wee boost to signal strength and maybe a slight range gain on good antenna receiver gear. maybe ideal for a big paddock where your miles away might get 1-2 bars and maybe ip cameras around the property also replace the bottom antenna on router which got in way of usb socket and cables so some benefit there as well NOTE! I also disabled the dual band for 5ghz (dir-825) since wasnt sure if it work or cause damage when the unit only boosts 2.4ghz range. wasnt sure if it pass through the other freqs. which I doubt.

Pros: This device can make your WiFi dreams come true. It has substantially higher output power than what can be bought locally in so-called "developed countries" - police states.
The device boosted the signal in the most distant room from the router by 15 dB. It went from 2 bars randomly dropping to 4 bars, rock solid connection.
I am using it with a D-link DIR-825 B. This router has bad strength out of the box - 15dBm. This is even less than what would be a maximum permitted output. The amplifier converts it to an almighty beast that finally covers the whole house.
It comes with a 5dB antenna with a R-SMA plug. The amplifier itself has a SMA female connector to connect to the AP and a R-SMA male connector to connect to the antenna. The body of the amplifier is solid cast aluminum alloy. This is needed for cooling and shielding.
The pigtail provided was needed in my case and I can't imagine any common configuration where it wouldn't.

Cons: It won't work well with multi-antenna network cards. The card cannot lock onto the plug that is being boosted, it randomly switches to the weaker ports and the connection fails. I had this problem with Intel adapters, others may work better.
If you absolutely must use an amplifier with such a card, buy as many units as there is ports and connect them all.

Other: Order it in advance to be prepared.

    Pros: ENG:
Increases signal strenght betwen 5 an 10 dB
    Comes with a little pigtail
    Do not get much hot
    ES:
Aumenta la potencia de la señal entre 5 y 10 dB
    Viene con un pequeño latiguillo
    No se calienta demasiado

    Cons: ENG:
Maybe a greater RX gain would be better
    ES:
Quizá una mayor ganancia de recepción sería mejor

    Other: ENG:
If you couln't connect with a greater antenna, just buy this amplifier and surf the web!
    ES:
Si no puedes conectarte con una antena mejor, compra este amplificador y navega!

Pros: I had the problem that I couldn't establish a connection between my laptop and access point (asusdeluxe wl-500g) in some rooms (very thick stone walls). This little amplifier gives enough oomph to have a reception even in the remotest corner of the flat.

    Cons: None so far.

Other: It increased the signal level enough so I don't loose connection anymore.

  • It does what it says

Pros: Pros: * Cheap * Uses a Standard connector * Actually works. Before connecting I got ~55dBm. After connecting I got ~48dBm. The closer to 0, the better. * It's small. * OS independent. * Comes with a short pigtail that isn't really needed - but I guess that's a good thing.

Cons: Cons: * Not useful unless you mount it somewhere. You won't want to carry this around with your laptop (especially since it only works with wifi cards that have external antenna adapters). * It needs to be plugged in when in use. This is the case with all wifi amplifiers, so not really a con I guess.

Other: It does what it says. And the price is very good. I'd say that if you've any interest in Wireless tech, or if you are having connectivity issues, buy this. Alternatively, you could buy a better antenna. I'd compare price/performance, depending on the price of this vs. an antenna.
