  • Very good small antenna.

posted by smilos on 02:58:08 G2T 04/02/2013 certificated customer

Pros: The antenna is a solid construction. The gain is 13 dB. In practice, it is from 11 - 13 dB. It's worth every penny. Very good for short links up to 1 km. For me, working on the vertical polarization. Because of the relatively small vertical entrance angle can be nice to focus.

Cons: Because no body is very susceptible to weathering. As soon as it gets wet loses signal. Central mount antenna is a little guilty so I had to correct him.

Other: In any case, a good purchase.

Cons: I could not find any missing. it's not used already. sma plug on me because I do not. I could not find any missing. it's not used already. sma plug on me because I do not. If you must use the wifi ago sma plug to find. If there remains in your hand.

Other: good structure. I would like to test. input source can be cut and plug sma

Pros: The packaging is good when it arrived, heavily packaged thus protecting the item from the damage.
the installation is quite simple. though i have to replace the connector.
I had a outrageous gain in signal strength.
my old antenna for my wimax connection is having 80-93% signal on all three signal meters (huawei bm622 modem) but upon installation of this yagi antenna i gained 100% on all three meters, having an rssi reading of -51db!!! wow that is a significant increase!!!
and my speedtest show 1.63 mbps dl rate and 1.0 mbps dl rate from 1.0dl/.53 dl
    ( I have a 1mbps connection)

Cons: Not much aside from the connector is not for my current cabling, but anyways i managed to replace it and the rest is a breeze

Other: Buy this if you need more speed and bandwidth increase(signal strength) specially when you are in remote areas.

  • Works almost as well as advertised, Great buy

Pros: Does the job, and quite well, once you have it aimed properly. Roughly 10-14dbi gain over my stock omni antennas on a Linksys WRT54G Router with Tomato firmware, using a descent quality 4-foot long N to RP-TNC cable. Might be even better results if could hook up direct.

Cons: - Short cable, so you will need an extension to mount it outside if you want the router or whatever it connects to to be indoors. - Very small operating window as far as Aiming, it took some work to get best signal strength, but I think this is design characteristic of this type (Yagi) of antenna.

Other: For $12 and in my case, a $8 cable, This $20 was well worth the purchase for a peek increase of -20dbi, but more like 10-15 dbi real world gain. If you have dismal wireless performance like I did and want a permanent mounted solution, buy this now! WRT54G and other Linksys Products: Just do a search for a N-male to RP-TNC male cable or adapter to make it work for a linksys router. Just make sure the seller is reputable for selling High quality cables, the one I bought from deals only in wireless products, and uses the same cables for their professional installations.

  • not so good

posted by SnakeNET on 14:04:15 G4T 18/04/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: solid, good build, with a way to attach it. Better than some 'ricore' antenna. Ease to point (I have fixed a boussole on it)

Cons: in my model (not the same as pictured), the cable is not good placed. Then, I have less signal than the standard omni. I have to correct it to have a correct result. Browse the web to know how to.

Other: Be aware that this model has a N connector. You probably want a reverse-SMA connector for your card. DX has this model (look for SMA in search bar)

  • Great antenna!

posted by ogofogo on 03:31:34 G3T 23/03/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This santenna is just great! I bought a converter cable from N male to rp-sma so I can attach it to my Gsky wifi adapter which I also bought from here. I have great connections to hundreds(yes hundreds) of wifi hotspots and all this is without direct visibility!; I use it as an indoor antenna and it's not even pointed at the window but at a brick wall :)

Cons: I can't find any cons really. It's just the N female adapter but there's (I think) the same antenna here with rp-sma connector. - The cable is a little bit short but if you use usb wifi adapter with loger cable it is not a problem

Other: Buy it, especially if you have a wifi adapter similar to the gsky one. If you need the rp-sma connector buy the other antenna which is with such connector (Don't try building a connector yourself - signal quality is greatly reduced)

  • Works fine!

posted by idillus on 06:11:03 G1T 14/01/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This antenna works fine! I had a Wifi problem (the signal's strength was too loud), and, after plug in with my Wifi Adapter it goes fine! The gain is not 15 - 18 dBi, the real gain should be around 12 dBi, but it's good

Cons: The only problem I found is I needed to buy an adaptor to work on my wifi adaptor, and using this adaptor, I loose 1 additional dB, but the final reliability is so good. Maybe, it can have an SMA adaptor, so, you don't need to buy a N-Male to SMA adaptor

Other: It's a good way to strength your Wifi signal if you don't receive it

  • Sturdy yagi!

posted by Laakkonen on 09:24:04 G12T 29/12/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Cheap, very sturdy, pretty light, comes with a pole mount (vertical polarization), will stand HEAVY wind load. Easy to aim.

Cons: Better construction might squeeze more decibels.
You will need an adapter for your WLAN device although N is imo better for heavier cable run down from the tower...

Other: Great antenna for links and misc. usage. Not too heavy for portable operation.

  • 12dBi -- a great deal

posted by easycr on 23:56:24 G7T 14/07/2009 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Mine just arrived, and I'm pleasantly surprised. The 15-18dBi rating is likely overstated by the manufacturer, but I got results in the 12dBi range.
I used Netstumbler software and tested this one against a 12dBi Waveguide antenna (cantenna) and a similar 15dBi Yagi antenna. I pointed each antenna toward a "hotspot" about 1Km from my house with good elevation on my side but without clear line-of-site. There are a few small trees, power lines and maybe a billboard blocking line-of-site, but no buildings or other major obstructions.
You can see the Netstumbler results here: http://www.easyclassreunions.com/12dbi_yagi.gif
As you'll see, the DX Yagi performs about the same as the 12dBi cantenna (WiFi-Link brand) but less powerful than a similar 15dBi Yagi (WiFi-Link brand).
My tests were done by holding/pointing each antenna for about a minute each, so if you open the image above, you'll see some slight drops in the signal when I moved my hand slightly. There are also two blank spaces when was changing antennas.
Signal strength? At 12dBi I get 2 bars (out of 5) on my WiFi card. It jumps to 3 bars occasionaly. Signal strenth is "low" but always stable. With the 15dBi Yagi, I get 3 bars and always have a "good," stable connection.

Cons: Not 15-18dBi (but still a great deal)
Several of the black rubber caps fell off during transport, the antennas come in clear plastic bags that are taped shut. So, you just have to pop them back on.

    Other: Buying more now!
