  • Happy with these lights

posted by ausGT on 15:58:29 G1T 31/01/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: The lights are very bright, and with a controller can be adjusted to obtain a good variety of strong colour. Lights can handle undercurrent but flickering is detectable. I ran these lights with 12v 500mA for many months. Used with controller http://www.dealextreme.com/p/remote-controller-control-box-for-rgb-led-light-strip-12-24v-105207 the lights can be remote controlled and set easily to preferred colour, or pulsating light show.

Cons: Not many cons that I can think of. I put 16v 1A into one of them by accident and blew 4 of the leds, but the strip is still working (minus those 4 leds)

Other: I bought the lights for use as a night light behind my childrens bed, and for that purpose, they have been fantastic. Their friends think the lights are so cool, and the kids get to negotiate a different colour every night, lucky them.......

  • Nice bright LED strip

posted by Slugsie on 08:56:02 G1T 24/01/2012 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Nice bright LEDs. Easy to control from an Arduino through some transistors. Individual LEDs are nice and bright.

Cons: Connecting wires a far too short, and the plastic mount has a very pronounced bow in the middle (over 1cm out of line). Lighting all colours at full intensity does not produce a clean white light but is quite clearly a mix of red green and blue lights.

    Other: Handy for small projects.

  • Bright RGB Ledstrip

    posted by trickster2011 on 09:58:25 G1T 13/01/2011 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: - Cheap RGB ledstrip - No Ledcontroller needed, directy to 12V - semi-waterproof sealed - Hardplasic cover - Very Bright Good for building Moodlight. Good for Club lightning

Cons: - Red Less stronger than Green And Blue - Wires do not match color ( not a big Con) - Wires not very long, it's about 5cm - 3 separate Leds for red green and blue, 1 multiled has better colormixing

Other: ships very quickly Very Cheap and very bright Ledstip it's the cheapest ledstrip i have found in the entire internet

Pros: Great acrylic cast around the LED's, this makes the strip solid. Spread of the light is quit good for a small LED strip

Cons: Casing looks to be under a little tension, it's a little curved. Little short wiring, wiring could be a bit longer or with a connector.

Other: Great LED strip for my solar light setup. Not yet in final place but it's great to build a lighting setup that isn't very expensive on purchase and doesn't cost anything in use :)

  • Great Light Strip

posted by babylonfive on 11:59:19 G2T 27/02/2010 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: This strip is well sealed and tough. I love the mix of colors and the red is a deep-red, not like some other strips and RGBs. The panel is fun to use - I created a camping light. Since the array is fairly long, it doesn't cast many shadows. The efficiency is fairly low, compared to very high-brightness lights, but also would make great accent lights.

Cons: Note the thickness of this compared to the little strips and tubes. This is thick and heavy enough that using it on cars should be considered carefully - it's stiff and won't bend like the strips.

Other: Like it a lot and enjoy it during camping. Doesn't use a lot of power - I give it a 4 out of 5 for sure

Pros: Cheap, bright for a RGB-strip, cutable every 3x3LED-Group (see other)

Cons: Its 45cm, not 50cm - The red LEDs are way darker than green and blue (see below) - the epoxy of mine was cracked but it does not affect the functionality and looks more like a fault of the transport company

Other: Great product if you plan to build something with changing colors

  • Great Color, Very Bright

    posted by npd89 on 02:11:51 G12T 16/12/2009 certificated customer

Pros: Very bright light, really solid construction. These things are really awesome.

Cons: The red light is quite a bit dimmer than the red and blue. I'd even go so far as to say it's about half as bright, so to get a true white color, you'll have to turn the intensity of the blue and green way down.

Other: Buy a few, you won't regret it, and the price can't be beat.

  • Bright and Cheap Price

posted by alexengland on 21:56:42 G10T 01/10/2009 certificated customer

Pros: This LED strip is quite bright. From DealExtreme these are way cheaper than anywhere in Australia. Cheapest I could find was around $40 for a even shorter one. Easy to wire up since all current limiting resistors are already soldered in. Epoxy is really nice and smooth. Runs on 12 volts, good for cars.

Cons: The green and blue colours are a little brighter than the red. I fixed this by putting a 330 Ohm resistor between the green wire and ground and another between the blue wire and ground.

Other: Cool, you should get it even if your not sure. Way cheaper than everwhere else!

Pros: The strip looks very nice. It has a smooth epoxy covering the resistors and the LEDs. I have only ordered one and it came undamaged. I plan on ordering a few more soon. The green and the blue LEDs are brighter than the red. I just put a 330 ohm resistor in series with the green and one in series with the blue and the light emitted seems to be about the same now. This is way cheaper than buying one from any retail shops near me. I called one place and i was looking at $40AUD+.

Cons: The only con was the different brightness of the colours. I fixed that pretty easily so Its not a con anymore.

    Other: Awesome buy it now.
