    • Excellent alternative for a GorillaPod for a DSRL

posted by leozawa on 14:32:43 G9T 22/09/2013 certificated customer

Pros: This is my second tripod I bought here and its an excellent alternative for a GorillaPod for a DSRL camera. Excellent materials and good quality. I use it for my camera and for an external flash. I can use them everywhere. Very good design

Cons: When you use it moving too much the legs, it tend to get not too rough. Be careful when you put your camera, specially if you are weareing a big lens on it. Check for stabilization of the legs. Open them widely.

Other: Good material, good handgrip and flexible. Ideal for trips and to carry always in the bag

    • Decent substitute to an expensive Gorilla Pod

posted by dalamscius on 07:06:24 G7T 03/07/2013 certificated customer

Involvement Level: Expert (understands the inner workings)

Pros: Bought this as a mini traveling tripod for when I go on vacation or other trips. Compared to the GorillaPod, it's much much cheaper and performs at essentially the same level. The grey gripping parts hold on to things quite well and it can hold my camera sufficiently (Canon 550D T2i) with a pretty heavy flash on the front (18-135)

Cons: The legs are a bit harder to swivel than the GorillaPod but after you learn how they work you can manipulate them pretty well. Based on how it feels I don't think it will last through heavy use so if you plan on using it very frequently you may want to try something else.

Other: If you want a small traveling Tripod that can get most of the jobs done, then pick this one up.

Other: Me ha sorprendido gratamente. Es una buena compra. Completamente recomendable a este precio.Ok

    • Good product for the price for big cameras

Pros: - It seems solid for big cameras. - Legs are very flexibles, you can move them as you want. - The finishings look good. - Universal attachment.

Cons: - Only for big cameras. If you have a compact, don't buy it, it's too big, there is other smaller. - For the moment nothing, but can be over time it might be less strong.

Other: For the price, it is a good product, but don't expect high quality!!!

Pros: Cheaper than the brand-name alternative.

Cons: Lower build quality than a real GorillaPod. Sturdy enough. I suppose the ball joints could move a little smoother, but it doesn't really matter to me.

Other: I can highly recommend a flexible tripod for photography. Not sure if I would get the real GorillaPod at three times the price, since the build quality of this tripod is suitable for my needs.

Pros: - The best pro of this "gorillapod" is the adapter that comes with it - Price is Ok for the quality

Cons: -Does not stands with a bit heeavy lens or camera. - It may slip on a not so rough surface. - I wouldn't mount this to a tree or anyting far from the floor.

Other: I think I would buy this again for the price, but I don't think I would recommend this to a friend who wants a gorillapod

Pros: Meets specifications, works well, easy to use, supports weight (at min 2kg), given with a screw converted (but not needed for normal cameras), cheap price...

Cons: Plastic is not as good as top quality gorillapods (but they are 4-5 times more expensive), no magnets in the feets. No nice package for gift

Other: I reordered 3 other ones for underater strobes and for my other cameras - I strongly recommend

    • Not for any SLR without modification

Pros: It holds my Nikon horizontally with 18-250 mm lens fully extended. It comes with a 1/4 to 3/8 adapter for swivel head too, luckily (see below). It grabs in whatever arrangement you want.

Cons: The plate that contacts the camera is teflon like plastic, very slippy. Even a mid size point-and-shot will lost grip in vertical position. Without a swivel head, it is hard to adjust the angle you want by just twisting the legs while the are gripping on something. The teflon like plastic appears to the three ball shape tips. Again, it is slippy! I replaced the plastic plate with a piece of rubber and installed a descent swivel head to it using the provided 3/8 adapter. It works great in any angle with my above mentioned gears.

Other: There`s some smaller model with swivel head attached. They should be good for smaller cameras. You need to buy a swivel head according to your camera`s weight for this one. If you treat the flex joints nicely, it should last a long while.

    • Pretty good for it's price

Pros: Price, of course. I local store all I bought broke in a month o usage. This one (actually two of them) serves me more than a year already. It folds good, has not slippery ends, so it holds 500 gr. camera well even on vertical bars. Another 1 kilo camera is pretty hard to settle in some unusual place. But it's not a magic item, so it's ok.

Cons: White ending of it's sections break easily. The screw in the middle is not fixed well in one end, so it rotates easily, not allowing to fix camera tightly.

Other: Removable head would add some $$ to it's price, but it would be more useful.
