  • a good product.

it is the cheapest Mini 8 x 8 Red LED Display i have found. Other products similar like this costs at least 10 dollars. It is easy to use with your DIY projects with arduino or raspberry pi (or another). It works fine. A good product with a great price.
So you need a lot of wires to plug all the pins, i suggest you, to use a controller like the mcp23017 or something similar like this (with a only mcp23017 you can use both Mini 8 x 8 Red LED Display at the same time).
    none.

Great colorsEasy to useGood refresh rateCompactRGB matrix can be disconnected and used separately
Uses all arduino IO pins (actually it doesn't, there are few unused pins still available, one can rewire the shield or use an sensor shield to get them)
This thing is great. Using the Colorduino library, anybody can quickly make this beast shine with colors and pictures. It's fast to work with, easy to setup and once you get into Colorduino library, it's very easy to make some really nice things (the example Plasma code is great).
  • versatile but no manual

It's functioning as a spectrometer when you power it : 2 buttons for changing color and line-mode, 2 has no apparent effect. The controller is 80C51 compatible, and there is a serial connector, so it's time for hacking !
    It must be powered with 1A, there are several chips on it : a 12C5A32 microcontroller, a DS1302Z serial RTC, a infrared receiver VS1838, 2quartz 30MHz & 32.768kHz, 2 74HC245D bus transceivers, a lithium cell, a PowerOn LED, 1 large 10V 470uF capa, 1 soldered 16pins connector + 2 unsoldered to drive 16x64 displays, 1serial connector (RX/TX), 1 4-pin connector (VCC,DAT,ND,GND).
So I think this will be a good board for hacking. I bought that instead of the bare LED 16x64 screen because of the microcontroller board for only a few more $$.

The watch looks really nice and I shows the time like any watch should. it also tracks the day and month. its very small. if you have small wrists it'll fit you but watch out because its not very adjustable. the plastic looks glossy.
Good watch for the money. it will get people looking at it.
It's A good buy and unique to have without spending lots of money for the real one.

All the LED's work, except for one row. I think this was caused by my experimenting while trying to find the pin layout. The product was probably fine. Luckily I do not need all 8 rows for my project. I intend to use this for a 2 digit display.
    I received a 16pin version.By testing I found that it was connected in the following way:Rows (+): pins 6, 2, 7, 1, 12, 8, 14, 9Cols (-): pins 16, 15, 11, 5, 10, 4, 3, 13The bottom text says:pin--45.72--0.8NL23881A
I would but one of these again if I needed it.
