  • All right excellent product.

Excellent product, good price-quality ratio, good packaging, resisted halfway across the world so that came into my hands in Santiago, Chile, good building materials in terms of hardware, software as this works in 90%.
Good experience, now to continue to buy more products, which hopefully llegen faster.
    all good.
  • Quick electric test of 28-LED PCB

    posted by MarcoWink

Compared to small emitters (10W, 20W) on metal board, this one has a much larger area, so cooling is more convenient and less critical wrt thermal conductivity.
All leds appear to have same light intensity, aluminum PCB will make sure temperature is about the same over the board, which is important.
    Price per lumen, convenient.
    - heatsink/PCB is large enough to enable to run the light without additional cooling till about ~5W (0.25A, 20.5V)
    - I made some quick measurements, the PCB appears to have a Rth of about 4K/W. At 10W end temp of PCB was 60 C, at room temperature (not recommended for permanent use), note that in a ceiling fixture environment temperatures will be higher.
    - Note that when temperature of the leds increases, current increases with same voltage, so use a real current source in stead of voltage source to stay save!
    - you could cut (saw) the PCB if you need another voltage!
"2800" lumen for 20 USD is good offer, convenient module.
  • Great Arduino Due-compatible board!

    posted by pcmihnea

I am aware that not buying one of the official boards means not supporting the Arduino project, but unfortunately I'm more limited at how much money I can spend. At 2/3~1/2 of the price of the official one, I get the same(?) performances. So, that's still something. Even though it's $3.10 more than the original source (ElecFreaks), it's more reliable and trust-worthy to buy it from here. It isn't identical to the official one, as stated on their site ("we modified the DC input current from Max 800mA to Max 2A and input voltage from 7-20V to 7-23V."), but those modifications are to be considered more advantageous for the user, being that it's still 100% compatible.
The main advantage of this board over the other Arduino ones is that it is the only one with DAC ports and has a more powerful processor, thus more possibilities of projects!
If you're in need of the most powerful board in the Arduino family as of today, but a bit short-funded, this is the best one so far!
  • Nice looking bedside clock

    posted by Lexxegorov

Nice look. The build quality is rather good. Thermometer seems to provide relevant temperature. The message board can be removed. The clock can be powered not only with 3 AAA batteries but with 5V DC input as well. If powered with DC input the backlight is on all the time.
I bought the clock to put it away from the bed but I wanted still to be able to read the time. I was dissapointed that the clock is not on all the time whilt on batteries. I managed to assemble 5V DC input with USB charger and USB cable with DC connector that have left from external battery. When I tried it at night it turned out, that the message board shines too bright and it is not comfortable to keep it on in the bedroom. I removed the message board but this didn't solve the problem. Finally I stuffed the message board slot with some paper and only then I got the clock working as I desired.
The clock is best suitable as a bedside alarm clock, so the one could easily reach it and switch it on. If the clock is put away it is not readable or shines too bright if powered via DC input.
  • Works great

Great colorsEasy to useGood refresh rateCompactRGB matrix can be disconnected and used separately
Uses all arduino IO pins (actually it doesn't, there are few unused pins still available, one can rewire the shield or use an sensor shield to get them)
This thing is great. Using the Colorduino library, anybody can quickly make this beast shine with colors and pictures. It's fast to work with, easy to setup and once you get into Colorduino library, it's very easy to make some really nice things (the example Plasma code is great).
