Works fine with my Ubuntu 12.04 as well as my Windows computers and Mac.Plugged inn and immediately recognized, by all operating systems.connected and used with Cisco, Soekrsi, and and other embedded devices.
I miss the serial-ports on my computers.
If you are looking for a USB to serial this will probably make it work for you. I't worked for me.

excellent cable connectors converters excellent excellent material and long enough cable to use it on any computer or laptop
not if the installation disk can be downloaded or can provide me clear again only the installation disk, not the cable that's fine
everything is fine with the exception of the installation disk that came broken if not to better protect the shipments coming to be transported by the postal service is not damaged or if you can provide us a better website where you can download drivers installation

Works. Desktop Linux works with 0 issues, plug in and go (tested with current Ubuntu 12.04 kernel 3.2.0-30-generic) Embedded Linux (HW:TS7800, kernel 2.6.21) doesn't work. http://tiagovaz.wordpress.com/2008/01/04/using-a-hl-340-usb-serial-adapter-against-2623-linux-kernel/ leads me to believe 2.6.24 is likely to be the earliest kernel that will work without manual work. Windows 7 requires some effort to grab the drivers.

This is the output from lsusb in Linux:Bus 003 Device 002: ID 0403:6001 Future Technology Devices International, Ltd FT232 USB-Serial (UART) ICfor all you people looking for a true FTDI device, get this one since it is one of the cheaper ones at dx.com from what I have found.Sturdy build, solid USB cable
Device has this model number printed on it: HXSP-2108D.We are swamped at work so I did not have time to test if my specific item works, but FTDI is great as you might know.
Get it if you are looking for a device with FTDI chipset.
